Abstract

Postpartum depression is a serious issue affecting mothers after childbirth and can harm both maternal mental health and child development. Hormonal declines postpartum increase vulnerability, often compounded by high stress and limited social support—especially from husbands. This study reviews nine articles from the past five years to examine how husband support maintains postpartum maternal mental health. Database searches with strict inclusion criteria and mixed-method analyses were conducted. Findings show that strong husband support—physical, emotional, and informational—reduces postpartum depression risk by more than twofold. Spousal relationship quality, maternal age, and socioeconomic conditions also influence outcomes, while insufficient husband support can affect fathers’ mental health. This study underscores the need for educating and engaging husbands during the postpartum period. These findings inform inclusive maternal mental health policies and programs, including: adoption and enforcement of routine EPDS screening as standard care (aligned with WHO recommendations and Indonesia’s Permenkes No. 21/2021 on maternal mental health services); strengthening family-centered services that actively involve husbands (partner-inclusive antenatal/postnatal classes, structured father education, couple counseling); culturally sensitive supports across socioeconomic contexts; and clear referral pathways from primary care to specialized services to ensure timely, equitable treatment for all mothers and families.

Abstract

Background: Percentage of exclusive breastfeeding in Jogja is low at 40.24 % , while the national target is 80 % . Many factors influence the success of exclusive breastfeeding, such as knowlwdge skills and techniques in breasfeeding and husband support. Efforts to increase the percentage is to provide breastfeeding counseling to couples. Husband’s support leads to successful breastfeeding techniques.Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of breastfeeding on couples counseling to the knowledge, support, and technical skills as well as the correlation of the couples knowledge of breastfeeding in a group of couples.Method: This research is a quasi experiment that assesses “ Effect of Breastfeeding Counseling In A married couple on Knowledge, skills technical Support to Breastfeeding In Public Health Centers of Yogyakarta “, by pretest-posttest control group. Sampling with consecutive sampling techniques in health centers Jetis, Tegalrejo, and Mergangsan, samples are husband and postpartum primiparous mothers who breastfeed their babies which is 60, randomization techniques are used to divide the block into a treatment group and a control group of 30 samples each. Knowledge variables were measured with questionnaires before and after counseling. The variable of husband support in the questionnaire after counseling, while the variable of breastfeeding skills is observed with breasfeeding the checklist before and after counseling. Analysis of the data uses the Wilcoxon, Man Whitney and Spearman Rank.Result: The results showed the score of knowledge and skills in a group of couples and groups prior to the intervention itself not significant (p> 0.05). The median value of knowledge for couples groups is 56.2, skills is 27, 27. The median value of the group itself to the knowledge is 55,0 27.27. The results of the knowledge, and skills after the intervention showed significant differences (p< 0.05). Couples groups is knowledge median value is 92.5, the value of the skills is 100, while the value of the group’s own knowledge 88,7 and skills is 72.72. Median value of knowledge on husband support to couples is (88,8), higher than own group median value (72.2), there is a significant difference (p < 0.05) . There is a husband and wife correlation knowledge which is significant (p <0.05)Conclusion: There is an effect of breastfeeding on couples counseling to the increase of knowledge, support, and technical skills of breastfeeding in Yogyakarta city health centers. Knowledge, support, and technical skills about breastfeeding in a group of couples is higher than the group itself. Husband’s good knowledge can increase wife’s knowledge about proper breastfeeding techniques.Keywords: Breastfeeding counseling, knowledge, support and skills

Abstract

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) is a rare and aggressive soft tissue malignancy, accounting for less than 1% of all soft tissue sarcomas. It is characterized by a high risk of metastasis and local recurrence, with diagnosis dependent on histopathological and immunohistochemical findings. This case report presents a rare instance of UPS and highlights the diagnostic complexity associated with its atypical presentation. A 48-year-old woman presented with pruritic, erythematous lesions on the forehead and a longstanding, hyperpigmented lesion on the left cheek. The forehead and ear lesions were unresponsive to topical treatments. Physical examination revealed multiple hyperpigmented macules and nodules with sanguine crusts. Histopathological examination showed a connective tissue stroma infiltrated by polymorphic cells, including lymphocytes, histiocytes, and plasma cells. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed focal positivity for CD31, CD34, CD68, and Ki-67, with negativity for CK, CD45, CD117, and Chromogranin. These findings were consistent with UPS. Radiologic imaging suggested pulmonary metastasis, and a secondary bacterial infection was identified. The patient was started on mupirocin for the secondary infection. Due to suspected pulmonary metastasis, surgical excision and radiotherapy were not pursued, and she began doxorubicin-based chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the patient passed away during the second cycle of chemotherapy. UPS is a rare and aggressive sarcoma that presents diagnostic challenges. Despite treatment, the prognosis remains poor due to its metastatic potential and limited response to conventional therapies. Abstract

Maternal and neonatal tetanus remains a significant public health issue, particularly in areas with limited healthcare access. Tetanus Toxoid (TT) immunization plays a vital role in preventing this condition, but vaccination coverage among prospective brides remains low in many regions. This scoping review aims to map existing evidence on the influence of health education on the perceptions of prospective brides regarding Tetanus Toxoid (TT) immunization. Using the PRISMA-ScR framework, literature searches were conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus, yielding 896 records, of which 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. Thematic synthesis identified three dominant themes: the role of health education in improving knowledge, the influence of individual and social perceptions on vaccination intentions, and the gap between knowledge acquisition and actual immunization compliance. The findings highlight that educational interventions such as counseling, booklets, and digital materials consistently improve knowledge and attitudes, yet these improvements do not always translate into completion of TT doses. Barriers related to service availability, administrative inconsistencies, and socio-cultural factors continue to hinder uptake. Strengthening communication skills among health workers and improving service integration between health facilities and marriage administration offices are essential to enhance adherence to TT immunization before marriage.
