Abstract

Sanitation facilities are a fundamental element that contributes to creating a healthy, comfortable, and productive learning environment in higher education institutions. This study aims to describe the availability of sanitation facilities in the Office Administration Management Study Program, analyze the factors that influence their condition, and explore the perspectives of the academic community regarding their quality and usefulness. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants of this study consisted of students, lecturers, administrative staff, and facility managers. The findings reveal that sanitation facilities such as toilets, sinks, and trash bins remain inadequate in terms of quantity, physical condition, and distribution within the campus area. Several key challenges were identified, including limited financial resources, suboptimal management practices, low awareness and discipline among users, and the absence of clear and strict institutional policies related to sanitation standards. The academic community generally perceives that the available sanitation facilities do not meet the expected standards of comfort and hygiene, which may negatively affect the quality of learning experiences and academic activities. This study highlights the importance of strategic planning, adequate budget allocation, and supportive institutional policies in improving the quality of sanitation facilities. The implications of the study are expected to provide valuable input for higher education managers in formulating policies and planning facilities that are more responsive to the needs of the academic community, thereby supporting effective, professional, and sustainable educational governance.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out among the members of the Sakinah Tailors' social gathering in the Kampung Bali sub-district of Sungai Serut, Bengkulu City. The members of the Sakinah Tailors' social gathering have the potential to grow because the members or partners already have sewing skills or their own sewing businesses. This is a supporting factor in developing a cooperative. However, they are constrained by limited knowledge about the procedures for forming a cooperative, capital, and how to prepare cooperative financial reports. So far, the members of the Penjahit Sakinah sewing circle have been carrying out savings and loan activities, but the administrators still carry out savings and loan activities in a conventional manner, so they want to form a sharia savings and loan cooperative. Therefore, the Community Service Team from the Faculty of Economics and Business wants to conduct socialization and assistance activities for the formation of a sharia-based savings and loan cooperative. The method used is through direct socialization and assistance activities using the Excel application, followed by posting, adjusting journals, and reporting activities.

Abstract

Harendong fruit (Melastoma affine D. Don) is empirically used by the community in the Mount Ciremai National Park as an anti-diarrheal medicine. Based on the results of research conducted by Safitri, et al, it is known that the extract of raw harendong fruit contains flavonoid and phenolic compound. Phenolic compound that is commonly found in fruit is tannin. Additionally, based on the literature, tannin has been proven to be useful as anti-diarrheal while flavonoid is useful as anti-bacterial. This study aims at determining the activity of harendong fruit extract syrup as anti-diarrheal in mice (Mus musculus L.). The research method in this study is carried out by giving oleum ricini as an anti-diarrheal inducer compared to positive control (loperamid HCl 11 mg / kg bw suspension) and negative control (Na CMC suspension). The harendong fruit lyophilisate syrup is made with different concentrations, namely 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%. Evaluation of the anti-diarrheal effect includes consistency of slimy / watery stools, soft and normal stools (including water absorption diameter, time of occurrence of diarrhea and stool weight), frequency of diarrhea and duration of diarrhea. The results of the test for the antidiarrheal effect of harendong fruit lyophilisate syrup at a dose of 0.5% has a weaker effect in suppressing the occurrence of diarrhea than the positive control. Then, harendong fruit lyophilisate syrup at a dose of 1% shows almost the same antidiarrheal effect compared to the positive control, while harendong fruit lyophilisate syrup with a dose of 1.5% has a stronger effect in suppressing the occurrence of diarrhea than the positive control.

Abstract

Alkaline water is water with a higher pH level than normal drinking water, it has a pH between 7-9.5 and it also has antioxidant activity. Aloe vera (Aloe vera) contains nutrients, vitamins and minerals that can function as natural antioxidants, such as vitamins C, vitamins A, magnesium, and zinc. Fresh aloe vera is less acceptable and preferred because of its taste, so it is necessary to process A. vera into a more durable and acceptable product. This study aims at determining the best and acceptable A. vera alkaline drink formula through product stability testing, including organoleptic, pH measurement, microbiological test. Then, the selected formula is analysed for antioxidant activity using DPPH, while nutritional content testing including fat content, protein content, and carbohydrate content. The result of the stability test of alkaline A. vera drink with concentrations of F1 (10%), F2 (20%), and F3 (30%) after accelerated storage conditions at 5oC and 35oC organoleptically did not change, and ulfilled the requirements under the Minister of Health Regulation of the Food and Drug Administration number 13 of 2019, but the pH decreased because of oxidation reaction of phenolic compounds from A. vera gel which produced aloetic acid and chrysophanic acid. The hedonic test, a result of the selected formula was F3 (30%) had a strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 9.952%, fat content 0.09%, protein content 0.16% and carbohydrate content 57.02%.
