Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop the adversity quotient-based and media-assisted model of mathematics teaching. The stages follow Plomp Model that involves (1) preliminary study, (2) designing (planning), (3) realization/ construction, (4) test, evaluation and revision, (5) implementation. Stages 1 through 3 were held in 2017, stages 4 and 5 completed in 2018 and 2019. Through the preliminary study, designing, and realization/construction, the researchers were able to construct the model in five components: syntax, social system, reaction principles, supporting system, and instructional and nurturing effect. The syntax of this model covers: introduction of learning objectives, motivating, the presentation of prerequisite material and the discussion structured task, student categorization based on adversity quotient, group discussion, group presentation, concluding the discussion, evaluation, and assigning structured-tasks individually and in groups.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of number sense of grade VII students at SMPN Model Terpadu Madani Palu in solving number problems. This type of research is qualitative research. The subject of this study were three students in grade VII CI-2 at Model Terpadu Madani Palu in the even semester of the 2020/2021. Three students selected as research subject consisted of a student with high math abilities, a student with medium math abilities and a student low math abilities. Data were collected by means of test and interview methods. The result of this study indicate that: (1) Profile of number sense of student with high mathematics ability is: (a) Representing fractions with pictures, (b) Use pictorial representations, (c) Using estimates and fraction properties to make a comparisons, (d) Using the assosiative property, (e) Understand the relationship between the problem’s context and the operation required. (2) Profile of number sense of student with moderate mathematics ability is: (a) Understand the concept of addition and substraction of fraction, (b) Using fraction properties to make a comparisons. (3) Profile of number sense of student with low mathematics ability is: (a) Able to convert fractions to decimal numbers and vice versa, (b) Understand the concept of addition and substraction of decimal numbers.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep siswa perlu untuk diprofilkan agar guru dapat mengetahui gambaran dari pemahaman konsep matematika yang dimiliki siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh deskripsi atau gambaran mengenai pemahaman konsep siswa kelas X MAN 2 Kota Palu dalam menyelesaikan persamaan logaritma ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpul melalui tugas tertulis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pemahaman konsep KT dalam menyatakan ulang konsep persamaan logaritma yaitu numerus dan basis yang memuat variabel dengan basis bisa tidak memuat variabel, mengidentifikasi contoh yaitu numerusnya yang memiliki variabel dan bukan contoh yaitu numerus tidak memuat variabel, mengklasifikasi objek-objek menurut sifat-sifat tertentu sesuai dengan konsep yaitu basis > 0 dan ≠ 1, sifat penjumlahan logaritma dan alog a = 1, serta menyelesaikannya secara algoritma; Pemahaman konsep KS dalam menyatakan ulang konsep yaitu basis dan numerusnya memuat variabel, mengidentifikasi contoh yaitu numerusnya memuat variabel dan bukan contoh yaitu numerus tidak memuat variabel, mengklasifikasi objek-objek menurut sifat-sifat tertentu sesuai dengan konsep yaitu alog a = 1 namun tidak menyelesaikannya secara algoritma; Pemahaman konsep KR dalam mengidentifikasi contoh persamaan logaritma yaitu numerus dan basis yang terdapat variabel.Students' understanding of concepts needs to be profiled so that teachers can know the picture of the understanding of mathematical concepts that students have. This study aims to obtain a description or description of the understanding of the concepts of class X MAN 2 Palu City students in solving logarithmic equations in terms of mathematical ability. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data is collected through written assignments and interviews. The results of this study show the understanding of the KT concept in restating the concept of logarithmic equations, namely numerus and bases that contain variables on the basis that they cannot contain variables, identifying examples, namely numerus that has variables and not examples, namely numerus does not contain variables, classifying objects according to certain properties according to the concept, namely bases > 0 and ≠ 1, logarithmic summation properties and alog a = 1,  as well as solving it algorithmically; Understanding the concept of KS in restating the concept, namely the base and numerus contain variables, identifying examples, namely numerus contains variables and not examples, namely numerus does not contain variables, classifies objects according to certain properties according to the concept of alog a = 1 but does not solve it algorithmically; Understanding the concept of KR in identifying examples of logarithmic equations, namely numerus and the basis on which there are variables.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memprofilkan berpikir kritis siswa yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang dan rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA konten change and relationship di kelas VIII MTsN 2 Kota Palu. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah 3 orang siswa kelas VIII MTsN 2 Kota Palu yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Berpikir kritis siswa yang berkemampuan matematika tinggi dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA konten change and relationship yaitu merencanakan dan melakukan eksperimen dengan investigasi yang baik, berpikiran terbuka dan memperhatikan alternatif lain untuk menyelesaikan soal, mendefinisikan istilah dengan cara yang sesuai konteksnya, menarik kesimpulan dari penyelesaian soal secara lisan dan tertulis, menjalin interaksi dengan orang lain serta mengevaluasi hasil pekerjaannya. (2) Berpikir kritis siswa yang berkemampuan matematika sedang dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA konten change and relationship yaitu mengembangkan dan mempertahankan tindakan dalam menyelesaikan soal dengan menggunakan rumus, berpikiran terbuka dan memperhatikan alternatif lain untuk menyelesaikan soal, menarik kesimpulan dari penyelesaian soal secara lisan, serta mengevaluasi hasil pekerjaannya. (3) Berpikir kritis siswa yang berkemampuan matematika rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA konten change and relationship yaitu mengembangkan dan mempertahankan tindakan dalam menyelesaikan soal dengan menggunakan rumus serta mengevaluasi hasil pekerjaannya.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain a profile solving linear systems of equations of two variables at SMAN 1 Sindue terms of high emotional intelligence. This research is a qualitative research. The research subject is obtained from tests of emotional equotient. The subjects used in this study wasone studentistaken out of grade X students who have high emotional equotient (SEQT). The results of the study at this stage of understanding the problem, (1) SEQT able to write and mention the known and asked, identify the unknown with the sentence statement and asked the interrogative sentence or order,provide examples of known and asked to use their own words, have confidence high and quiet in understanding the problem; (2) SEQT plan calmly problem solving using elimination and substitution; (3) SEQT implement planned seriously and not in a hurry using of elimination and substitution with a relatively short time; (4) SEQT check all the answers that made carefully. After getting the final results and validate the answers then believe that their results are correct, have high self-confidence, more calm and able to adapt to the social environment.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the profil of students’ problem solving of one variable linear equations of the climber students’ in the grade VII of SMP Negeri 3 Palu. The research subject was gained by adversity response profile questionnaire to classify the type of student that type of adversity quotient climber, camper, and a quitter. Subjects used in this research only one student type of climber. The results of this research shows that: (1) understand the problem, students climber unyielding so as to identify and propose things that are known and questioned on the issue, (2) make a plan, students climber motivate yourself and not easily satisfied so as to propose a contingency plan that will be done to solve the problem, (3) carrying out the plan, students climber always trying and not give up so as to implement the plan as planned and the results obtained are correct, and (4) looking back, students climber is not so just believe in the truth of the results obtained, so the retest by linking it known denfan results.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh deskripsi penerapan model pembelajaran langsung untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa tentang materi operasi pada bentuk akar di kelas X MIA 7 SMA Negeri 4 Palu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang rancangannya mengacu pada desain penelitian Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yakni (1) perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan tindakan, (3) observasi dan (4) refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran langsung yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa tentang materi operasi pada bentuk akar mengikuti fase-fase: yaitu (1) menyampaikan tujuan dan mempersiapkan peserta didik, (2) presentasi dan demonstrasi, (3) membimbing pelatihan (4) mengecek pemahaman dan memberikan umpan balik dan (5) memberikan kesempatan untuk pelatihan lanjutan dan penerapan. Kata kunci: pembelajaran langsung, hasil belajar, operasi pada bentuk akar Abstract: The objective of this research is to obtain the description about the application of direct learning outcomes on operation of root in class X MIA 7 SMA Negeri 4 Palu. This research is classroom action research. The design of this research refers to Kemmis’ and Mc. Taggart’s research design that is (1) planning (2) action (3) observation (4) reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The result of this research indicating that the application of direct learning can improve student’s learning outcomes operation of root by following yhe phases, those are (1) conveying the learning objective and preparing the students, (2) presentation and demonstration, (3) guiding the exercise, (4) check the understanding and giving feed back, (5) giving opportunity for advance training and implementation. Key words: direct learning, learning outcomes, operation of root.
