Abstract

The essential consideration is whether hermeneutics as an alternative approach can provide a dialogue between the texts and reality. This is library research, in which the data sources obtained through various written works, both in the form of books and journals. The study is descriptive qualitative that provides a clear picture and systematic about the methodology of Islamic legal thought Fazlur Rahman understandings.  To synchronize his background with interpretations, then used a normative theological approach, namely an approach that emphasizes form religious symbols originating from the Quran and sunnah text. The double movement hermeneutic theory is his effort in dialoguing between text and context. He appreciates history and adapts developments in every space and time. He tried to do a two-way movement. First, moving from the context of reality to the historical context of texts. Second, moving from the context of historical facts to the context of contemporary reality. Errors in interpreting text often occur due to the separation between the text from its context. In these circumstances, the double movement theory finds its relevance in making the Quran capable of dialogue with every dynamic that occurs. In this way, the text is always alive and as if it was revealed at this time. It contributes to the development of a paradigm of religious moderation. The double movement has strong historical roots in the science of the Quran, including asbab al-nuzul, makkiyah-madaniyah, and nasikh-mansukh.

Abstract

Pendidikan nasional dinilai gagal membentuk karakter dan integritas yang baik. Para sarjana yang mengemban amanah publik telah banyak yang kehilangankepercayaan akibat korupsi dan manipulasi. Pendidikan sejatinya mampumembentuk karakter melalui penanaman nilai-nilai agama dan kearifan lokal.Pertama, pengawasan melekat dengan pendekatan agama yaitu pemberdayaannilai-nilai agama dalam rangka pencegahan dini terhadap korupsi danmanipulasi. Kedua, pemberdayaan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal, dalam konteksinibudaya Bugis yang relevan dengan ajaran Islam.Kearifan budaya dan ajaranIslam mengajarkan kebenaran universal berupa kejujuran dan integritas sertanilai-nilai kebenaran dan kebaikan lainnya. Pendidikan karaktermelaluiinternalisasi nilai-nilai utama pada keseluruhan aktivitas pendidikan, meliputiperencenaan, proses, dan evaluasi. Integrasi aspek kognitif, afektif, danpsikomotorik pada seluruh proses pendidikan dapat membentuk kecerdasanmajemuk. Integrasi nilai-nilai universal agama dan keluhuran nilai-nilai budayabertujuan untuk melahirkan pemimpin yang “berkarakter” dan masyarakat yangdamai.

Abstract

From a sociohistorical-anthropological perspective, the existence of an elite class with a class of people is known in the Qur’an. This research elaborates the verses of the Qur’an about elite society in social order. The existence of an elite society and its role in human civilization is the main concern in this study. Through the thematic interpretation method, typology and the role of elite society are explained. The terms prophet, apostle, malik, and al-mala’ refer to the elite. Prophets and messengers are elite groups based on revelation, malik based on political power relations. The term al-mala’ is part of an elite society divided into three groups, namely al-mala’, which opposes the apostles, al-mala’, which does not oppose the da’wah of the apostles, and al-mala’ which has a hypocritical character. Da’wah and education carry the regeneration mission for the birth of new elites who are partners in the benefit. As for the opponents of da’wah and the elite who are hypocritical in character, they must be anticipated so as not to cause chaos, crisis, and crime.

Abstract

The classical reading methods which are literal textual as an intellectual response from Muslims scholars to socialcultural dynamic which related to their life at that time. The urgency to understand the Qur’an in a holistic manner was needed in addressing the problems of life, in addition to the development of the qur’anic study necessitates the alignment between scientific research, interpretation of the Qur’an, universal benefit and the value of wisdom in the same breath with weltanschauung of al-Qur’an. Implementation of such commentary tradition in the context of local wisdom is not intended to limit the meaning of the Qur’an text, but rather on the dialectic between interpretation, cultural and readers that can not be separated. This article tries to convey Bugis-Makassar cultural values as an example of how to implement the relevant moral ideas in accordance with the teachings of the Qur’an.

Abstract

Calling al-Tirmidhī as mutasāhil is controversial both amongst classical and contemporary Muslim scholars. Some other scholars call him mutashaddid. Such an accusation to him is due to some factors. First, the difference of his Makhtūtat and his al-Jāmi‘ about particular status of ḥadīth. Second, scholars misunderstand about technical terms used by al-Tirmidhī in his work of al-Jāmi‘. Third, al-Tirmidhī elevates the status of ḥadīth ḍa‘īf into ḥasan because of support from other riwāyah of it. Moreover, he also justifīes ḥadīth ḥasan, if supported by other riwāyah, as ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ although this ḥadīth does not reach the status of valid. Forth, the title as tasāhul or tashaddud falls in the field of ijtihād, which may vary from one scholar to another. This means that the title of tasāhul or tashaddud ascribed to al-Tirmidhī may be accepted by some scholars while rejected by others.

Abstract

The Islamic law and its existence can not be separated from the socio- historical factors surrounding the scholars of  fiqh in producing islamic law. Variety of  environmental and socio-political context contributed significantly in shaping patterns of Islamic legal thought. In fact, judging from the relationship between the political (power) with the occurance of laws there are a number of  correralion indicators. It is likely a madhhab develop because of  political support. When a madhhab ruling the other madhhab highly susceptible to hard resistance. Indeed, ideally fiqh should be able to provide answers to a variety of  empirical facts on the various issues. And, fiqh in Indonesia should not simply adopt the products of  classical period only, but need to develop and articulate the contemporary context based on the empirical facts. Internal understanding of the diversity of Indonesian Muslims is also a consideration in producing fiqh other than social facts. With the principle of  unity in things agreed, and tolerant of things that are not agreed upon, particularly with regard to the furu’iyat. Fiqh as a product of thought influenced by the socio-historical conditions of  society should not be seen as absolute. Now, need to show that penetrates all aspects of jurisprudence and responded critically on contemporary issues that continue to vary and evolve.

Abstract

This study based on postulate that both maslahat and primary texts of Islam are never contaradicting essentially, where holy text is guidance for humankind for goodness of world and hereafter. Based on ‘maslahat approach’, appear idea of eco-fiqh to respond several envoronmental problems. This article aims to study about eco-fiqh which is based on maslahat approach (benefit) and analysis about environmental impact (amdal). To realize benefit of development, regulation of analysis about environmental impact must be obeyed, because it is supported by Islamic principle that “preventing the adverse effects is more prioritized than taking advantages”. Eco-fiqh guides a principle that prevention of environmental adverse effects for longer time than to take economic benefit for shorter time. Preserving the environment is prophetic doctrine and also a mainstream of Islamic doctrine which sometimes ignored. Preserving the environment is not only ‘tahsiniyat’ or ‘hajiyat’, or “dharuriyat’. Idea of eco-fiqh is an effort to put environmental conservation as mainstream of Islamic doctrine. Therefore, it brings about eco-piety beside spritual and social piety.

Abstract

This article investigates the relevance of values of Bugis culture dan Muslim Scholars' views in Bugis Quranic exegesis by MUI of South Sulawesi. This research uses a content analysis approach to the Bugis Quranic exegesis. Bugis Muslims scholars' views about women's rights (opportunity) to be public leaders, iddah, and inheritance distribution are relevant to core values of Bugis culture and local wisdom of Bugis people. To be public leaders, women never mind as long as they fulfill qualitative and functional criteria. In household affairs, a married couple is a partnership where both have responded to do together. 'Iddah stress to religious principle and culture of siri' (self-respect), paccing (purity), asitinajang (fairness).  Inheritance distribution does relate to the right and responsibility to realize equality and justice. Muslim scholars' of Bugis have the expertise to deliver values of Bugis culture, and explanatory is not only explicitly, but also implicitly and inherently. The Quran and local wisdom are two values integrated into giving solutions to people. Therefore, the integration between local wisdom relevant to the teachings of Islam (the Koran) undertaken by the ulama will undoubtedly be more effective.

Abstract

The education process often produces a dichotomy between moral, intellectual, and spiritual aspects, even though education can make all these aspects simultaneously and in balance. This article is an analytical study of the meaning of verse 11 of Surah al-Mujadilah regarding education that integrates moral, intellectual, and spiritual competencies. Data are tracked and collected from the interpretation of the ulama through books of tafsir, the preachers' explanations, and relevant articles. The analysis was carried out by applying the approach to the sciences of the Koran, the science of interpretation, and educational theory. The understanding of verse 11 surah al-Mujadilah is distorted because of the limited interpreters' competence personally and intellectually and the selection of an inappropriate method of interpretation. The neglect of the moral urgency in education has led to a moral crisis among intellectuals and educated people. The ethical problem is not only happening to ordinary people but also intellectuals. As a result, modern humans who are synonymous with scientific progress are moving towards moral destruction. If morals are broken, it has a destructive impact on the whole.Keywords: Critical Analysis of Education, Intellectual Education, Moral Education

Abstract

This study is motivated by two things, namely Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, and the population of Indonesia has a high cultural diversity. This qualitative research applies a content analysis and semantic approach to analyze the texts and documents. Conceptually, proper education can shape character through the inculcation of religious values and local wisdom. At the same time, wise expressions in the Bugis advice are analyzed with a content analysis approach. The results of the analysis show two main points. First, character building starts from the human side. The Qur'an shows that character building must start from the inner dimension of the human being. It is indicated by the word 'anfus' in the Quran. Second, the central values of Bugis' local wisdom align with the universal values of the Quran, namely coaching that touches the inner dimension in the form of ideas, beliefs, and awareness of the importance of these noble values in attitudes and behavior. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh dua hal yaitu Indonesia sebagai negara dengan penduduk muslim terbesar di dunia, dan penduduk Indonesia yang memiliki keragaman budaya yang tinggi. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis isi dan semantik untuk menganalisis teks dan dokumen. Secara konseptual, pendidikan yang tepat dapat membentuk karakter melalui penanaman nilai-nilai agama dan kearifan lokal. Sementara itu, ungkapan bijak dalam petuah Bugis dianalisis dengan pendekatan analisis isi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan dua poin utama. Pertama, pembentukan karakter dimulai dari sisi kemanusiaan. Al-Qur'an menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan karakter harus dimulai dari dimensi batin manusia. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan kata 'anfus' dalam Al-Qur'an. Kedua, nilai-nilai sentral kearifan lokal Bugis selaras dengan nilai-nilai universal al-Qur'an, yaitu pembinaan yang menyentuh dimensi batin berupa gagasan, keyakinan, dan kesadaran akan pentingnya nilai-nilai luhur tersebut dalam sikap dan perilaku.
