Abstract

Abstract: Obesity is one of the global health problem which is often found. Indonesia is a developing country with high incident of obesity. Adolescents are the age group with high levels of obesity risk. The increasing of obesity followed by increasing co-morbidity the potential to be disease in a later time. Obesity increasing the risk of high blood pressure. Hypertension in adolescents already many found. Hypertension in adolescents is problem because it can be continued in adults. one important factor which play a role in obesity is physical activity. Objective: This research to determine the relationship of obesity with blood pressure and physical activity in adolescents in Bitung. Methodology: This study was observational analytic cross sectional design. Results: There were 60 subjekts as the subject of study that meets the inclusions kriteria which have been measured. Consisted of 21 boys and 39 girls. Of 60 obese adolescents are 34 adolescents with high blood pressure, 26 adolescent with normal blood pressure, 52 adolescent with moderate physical activity, 8 adolescents with low physical activity, there is no a significant relationship with blood pressure (Chi Square Test p=0,120), and there is no a significant relationship with physical activity (Chi Square Test: p=0,486. Conclusion: There is no a relationship between obesity with blood pressure and physical activity in adolescents in Bitung.Keywords: obesity, blood pressure and physical activity.Abstrak: Obesitas merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan dunia yang semakin sering ditemukan. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara berkembang dengan tingkat obesitas yang tinggi. Remaja merupakan kelompok umur dengan tingkat risiko obesitas yang tinggi. Peningkatan obesitas disertai dengan peningkatan ko-morbiditas yang berpotensi menjadi penyakit degeneratif di kemudian hari. Obesitas meningkatkan resiko terjadinya penyakit tekanan darah tinggi. Hipertensi pada remaja sudah banyak ditemukan. Hipertensi pada remaja merupakan suatu masalah karena dapat berlanjut hingga usia dewasa. Salah satu faktor penting yang berperan pada obesitas adalah aktivitas fisik. Obesitas. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan obesitas dengan tekanan darah dan aktivitas fisik pada remaja di kota Bitung. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik. Hasil: Terdapat 60 subjek yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi yang telah diukur. Terdiri dari 39 perempuan dan 21 laki-laki dan 39 perempuan. Dari 60 remaja obes tersebut, 34 remaja dengan tekanan darah tinggi, 26 remaja dengan tekanan darah normal, 52 dengan aktivitas fisik sedang, 8 dengan aktivitas fisik rendah, tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna dengan tekanan darah (Uji Chi Square : p=0,120), dan dengan aktivitas fisik (Uji Chi Square : p=0,486). Simpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara obesitas dengan tekanan darah dan aktivitas fisik pada remaja di kota Bitung.Kata kunci: obesitas, tekanan darah, aktivitas fisik

Abstract

Abstract: Arsenic, a toxic element to the body, is commonly found in mining waste. Buyat is known as a mining location (especially gold mine) which dumps mining waste in the form of tailings into the sea through the Buyat River. A mine should process the degradation of waste from a very toxic form into a less toxic form before disposing the waste into the sea. However, this process is often overlooked by artisanal miner because it consumes considerable production cost. Waste containing toxic arsenic gradually accumulates into sediments in the ocean, so bacteria in the environment begin to develop a mechanism of resistance to arsenic. This study was aimed to determine the types of arsenic-resistant bacteria isolated from sediment at Buyat estuary using conventional bacterial identification methods, including morpho-logical, physiological, and biochemical tests. Nine bacterial isolates were treated with arsenic stress at 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 80 ppm, 100 ppm, 300 ppm, 500 ppm, and 1000 ppm. The results showed several bacteria that could grow even in conditions containing as much as 1000 ppm of arsenic, namely Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Aeromonas, Clostridium, Bacillus, Hafnia, and Escherichia. Conclusion: In the sediment of Buyat estuary we found seven genera of bacteria, as follows: Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Aeromonas, Clostridium, Bacillus, Hafnia and Escherichia.Keywords: Arsenic-resistant bacteria, Buyat River, sediment, As2O3Abstrak: Arsen ialah salah satu jenis unsur yang bersifat toksik bagi tubuh dan merupakan salah satu hasil limbah pertambangan. Buyat merupakan salah satu lokasi pertambangan (terutama tambang emas) yang membuang limbah pertambangannya berupa tailings ke laut. Limbah tersebut dialirkan melalui Sungai Buyat. Pertambangan yang resmi harus melakukan proses degradasi arsen dari yang sangat toksik menjadi kurang toksik terlebih dahulu sebelum membuang limbah ke laut, namun proses ini sering diabaikan oleh pertambangan rakyat karena memakan biaya produksi yang cukup besar. Limbah yang mengandung arsen toksik lama-kelamaan terakumulasi menjadi sedimen di laut, sehingga bakteri di lingkungan tersebut mulai mengembangkan mekanisme resistensi terhadap arsen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis bakteri resisten arsen yang diisolasi dari sedimen di muara Sungai Buyat menggunakan metode identifikasi bakteri konvensional. Terdapat 9 isolat bakteri yang diberi perlakuan stres arsen pada 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 80 ppm, 100 ppm, 300 ppm, 500 ppm, dan 1000 ppm. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan beberapa jenis bakteri yang dapat bertumbuh bahkan pada kondisi mengandung arsen sebanyak 1000 ppm, yaitu genus Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Aeromonas, Clostridium, Bacillus, Hafnia, dan Escherichia. Simpulan: Pada sedimen tanah di muara Sungai Buyat diidentifikasi tujuh genus bakteri, yaitu Klebsiella, Staphylococcus, Aeromonas, Clostridium, Bacillus, Hafnia, dan Escherichia.Kata kunci: bakteri resisten arsen, Sungai Buyat, sedimen, As2O3

Abstract

Abstract: Mercury (Hg) is a type of metal that is commonly found in nature and scattered in the rocks, ore mines, soil, water, and air as inorganic and organic compounds. Mercury is dangerous to our health because it can be methylized into methyl mercury (MeHg), which is toxic to human body. The detoxification of mercury can be done by using microorganisms that are resistant to mercury. One of the microorganisms that arre resistant to mercury is bacteria. This study was aimed to identify the types of bacteria in soil sediments at Buyat bay that were resistant to mercury. This was a descriptive exploratory study with a cross-sectional design. The results showed that bacterial colonies could still grow in culture medias of 5, 10, and 20 ppm of phenyl mercury. Identification of the bacteria resulted in Streptococcus sp, Pseudomonas sp, Bacillus sp, Echerchia Sp, and Klebsiella sp. In conclusion, at Buyat bay, there were five species bacteria that were resistant to 5, 10 and 20 ppm concentrations of mer-cury, namely, Streptococcus sp, Pseudomonas sp, Bacillus sp, Echerchia Sp, and Klebsiella sp.Keywords: bacteria, mercury resistance, soil sediments Abstrak: Merkuri (Hg) ialah salah satu jenis logam yang banyak ditemukan di alam dan tersebar dalam batu-batuan, biji tambang, tanah, air dan udara sebagai senyawa anorganik dan organik. Merkuri merupakan senyawa yang berbahaya karena dapat bermetilisasi menjadi metil merkuri (MeHg) yang bersifat toksik bagi tubuh manusia. Upaya detoksifikasi merkuri dapat dilakukan antara lain menggunakan mikroorganisme yang resisten terhadap merkuri. Salah satu mikroorganisme yang tahan terhadap merkuri ialah bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis bakteri resistensi merkuri yang terdapat pada sedimen tanah di perairan pantai Buyat. Jenis penelitian ialah deskriptif eksploratif. Hasil penelitian menda-patkan bahwa masing-masing konsentrasi fenil merkuri hingga 20 ppm menunjukkan adanya pertumbuhan koloni bakteri, yaitu Streptococcus sp, Pseudomonas sp, bacillus sp, Escherichia Sp, dan Klebsiella sp. Simpulan penelitian ini ialah di pesisir laut Buyat terdapat lima jenis spesies bakteria yang resisten terhadap merkuri, yaitu Streptococcus sp, Pseudomonas sp, bacillus sp, Escherichia sp, dan Klebsiella spKata kunci: bakteri, resistensi merkuri, sedimen tanah

Abstract

Abstract: Hypercholesterolemia is a risk factor for coronary heart diseases. Obesity is also a risk factor of hypercholesterolemia. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia in obese adolescents in Tondano. This was a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. Population was students of SMK Tondano from grade one to grade three aged 13 to 18 years. Samples were obtained by using simple random sampling. Weight, height, and cholesterol level were measured. There were 54 samples of obese students: 43 females (80%) and 11 males (20%). Of the 54 samples, 6 samples had elevated levels of cholesterol: 5 females (84%) and 1 male (16%). Conclusion: Obese females were more likely to have elevated levels of cholesterol compared to obese males.Keywords: adolescents, obesity, cholesterolAbstrak: Hiperkolesterolemia merupakan salah satu faktor resiko penyebab terjadinya penyakit jantung koroner. Obesitas merupakan salah satu faktor resiko penyebab hiperkolesterolemia.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui prevalensi hiperkolesterolemia pada remaja obes di Kota Tondano. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan potong lintang. Populasi ialah siswa SMK Negeri Kota Tondano dari kelas satu sampai kelas tiga yang berumur 13 sampai 18 tahun. Sampel diperoleh dengan teknik simple random sampling. Dilakukan pengukuran berat badan, tinggi badan dan pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol. Didapatkan 54 sampel siswa obes terdiri dari 43 siswi (80%) dan 11 siswa (20%). Dari 54 sampel yang diteliti, 6 sampel yang mengalami peningkatan kadar kolesterol yaitu 5 orang siswi (84%) dan 1 orang siswa (16%). Simpulan: Remaja perempuan yang obes lebih banyak mengalami peningkatan kadar kolesterol dibandingkan dengan remaja laki-laki yang obes.Kata kunci: remaja, obesitas, kolesterol

Abstract

ABSTRACTTembelekan leaves (Lantana camara L.) contains flavonoids that possess antipyretic activityto inhibit prostaglandin. The aim of this study was toexamine the effect of ethanolic extractfrom tembelekan leaves as antipyreticon white male rats strain Wistar induced with DPT-Hb.This study is arandomized complete experimental design. Tested animals were 15 white malewistar rats, weighing 130-180g. Test ed animals were divided into 5 groups : negative group(CMC suspension 2.5ml), positive group (paracetamol), and treatment group of tembelekanleaves extract 720mg/kgBB, 1080mg/kgBB and 1440mg/kgBB. Temperature measurementswere conducted before the rats induced with DPT-Hb, 1 hour after administered with DPTeanalyzed by ANOVA and LSD (Least significant different). Abstract

Betel nut (Areca catechu) known as folks medicine that possess anthelmintic activity.Anthelmintic were used to reduce or eliminate the worm in human or animal body. The aimsof this research were to find out anthelmintic activity of ethanol extract of betel nut againstAscaris lumbricoides and Ascaridia galli, and to determine efective concentration of ethanolextract of betel nut as an anthelmintic. This assay using ethanol extracts of betel nut withconcentration of 10%, 20%, and 30%. Mortality and paralysis percent of worms observedevery hour for 12 hours. Obtained data were analyzed by ANOVA. Regression analysis wasconducted to determine PC50 and LC50. The result show that ethanol extract of betel nutpossess an in vitro anthelmintic against Ascaris lumbricoides and Ascaridia galli. Abstract

ABSTRACT The cooperleaf herb (Acalypha indica L.) is a plant which is used as a traditional medicine. The cooperleaf herb leave is a part of the plant to use for decreasing the blood sugar level. The aimed of this research is to know the giving effect of the cooperleaf herb leave ethanol extract to the blood sugar level of strain wistar white male mice which is inducted by sucrose. Fifteen strain wistar white male mice are divided into five treatment groups namely negative control group, positive control group, the group of the cooperleaf herb leave extract with doses 3,15 g extract/ kg body weight, 6,3 g extract/ kg body weight, and 12,6 g extract/ kg body weight. The data obtained from the examination  by sucrose and at 15, 30, 60, 120 minutes after gave treatment. The data are analyzed by using One Way ANOVA and to be continued with LSD test for seeing the differentiation between the treatments. The result of this research show the cooperleaf herb leave ethanol extract with with doses 3,15 g extract/ kg body weight, 6,3 g extract/ kg body weight, and 12,6 g extract/ kg body weight have the effect to decrease the blood sugar level of strain wistar white male mice.

Abstract

ABSTRACTTlethong mushroom (Psilocybe cubensis) contains psilocybin that potential as antidepressant.The aim of this research was to examine the effect of Tlethong extract as antidepressant onwhite male wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Antidepressant test were evaluate on white malewistar which divided into 5 groups. The first group were administered with aquadest asnegative control, Second group were administered with amitriptilin as positive control, thirdgroup were administered with Tlethong extract with dose 500 mg/KgBB, 625 mg/KgBB and750 mg/KgBB then tail suspension test were conducted. Immobility time dengan metodeforced swim test. Obtained data were analyzed by one way ANOVA. Abstract

ABSTRACTHepatitis B is a disease caused by the virus called hepatitis B wich characterized by aninflammation that occurs in organs such as the liver. The transmission of Hepatitis B is higherthan the transmission of the HIV virus. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics anduse of the drug in hepatitis B patients in the Government Hospital in Manado. This researchis a descriptive study based on retrospective data collection for 2 years survey from January2011 to December 2012. The respondent of this research involve of 70 patients with HepatitisB medical record. The results showed that based on group age, responden with age group 46-65 has the highest percentage by 31 patients (44.3%), based on gender, males have thehighest percentage of total of 47 patients (67.1%), based on the duration of treatment, thehighest percentage is shown by the patient with 1 day threatment as 21 patients (30%). Basedon therapeutic treatment this research divided it into 2 kind of threatment. The first us singleagent therapy Hepamax consist of 27 patients (38.6%) The second therapy is combinationbetween Hepamax and Curcuma wich consist of 9 patients (12.9%). Swartz) is one of the plants which has the antibacterial properties from the zingiberaceae family. Empirically it can treat various diseases such as chest pain, throat inflammation, stomach inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes and skin diseases. White galangal rhizome contains flavonoids, tannins, quinones and terpenoids. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of white galangal rhizome extract (Alpinia galanga L. Swartz) and test its inhibition against the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria which are resistant to ceftriaxone antibiotics. The white galangal rhizome was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent and antibacterial activity was tested using the disc and well method with a concentration difference of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 12.5%. The results showed that white galangal rhizome extract (Alpinia galanga L. Swartz) had antibacterial activity against the bacterium Klebsiella pneumoniae and could inhibit the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria. On the disc method for concentrations of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 12.5%, the inhibitors were categorized as medium. Whereas in the well method for concentrations of 100% and 75%, the inhibitors were categorized as strong, for concentrations of 50%, 25%, and 12.5%, which have a medium category.Keywords: White Galangal Rhizome (Alpinia galanga L. Secara empiris dapat mengobati berbagai penyakit seperti nyeri dada, radang tenggorokkan, radang lambung, rematik, diabetes dan penyakit kulit. Rimpang Lengkuas putih mengandung senyawa flavonoid, tanin, kuinon dan terpenoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak rimpang Lengkuas putih (Alpinia galanga L. Swartz) dan menguji daya hambatnya terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri klebsiella pneumoniae yang resisten terhadap antibiotik seftriakson. Rimpang Lengkuas putih diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dan dilakukan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dengan menggunakan metode cakram dan sumuran dengan perbedaan konsentrasi 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% dan 12,5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak rimpang Lengkuas putih (Alpinia galanga L. Swartz) memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae dan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae. Pada metode cakram untuk konsentrasi 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% dan 12,5% memiliki daya hambat yang dikategorikan sedang. Sedangkan pada metode sumuran untuk konsentrasi 100% dan 75% memiliki daya hambat yang dikategorikan kuat, untuk kosentrasi 50%, 25%, dan 12,5% memiliki daya hambat yang dikategorikan sedang.
