Abstract

Piroxicam has the potential to cause side effects, especially in the liver, so that it can causes cell damage and impair the function and work of the liver organs. One way to minimize liver cell damage is by giving black cumin (Nigella sativa). This study aims to analyze the effect of black cumin (Nigella sativa) extract on the level of liver cell damage in rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by Piroxicam. This study used 80 male rats and divided into 3 groups, namely negative control (K-), Piroxicam non-extract (P-) and Piroxicam plus extract (P +). Black cumin extract is given orally at a dose of 2 gr/kgBW; 3 gr/kgBW; 4 gr/kgBW; 5 gr/kgBW and 6 gr/kgBW, while the Piroxicam dosage given is 1 g/kgBW and 3 g/kgBW. The liver cell damage was done by observing the microscopic image. The results showed that the more doses of Piroxicam were given, the higher the level of cell damage. Along with increasing the dose of black cumin extract, the cell damage is reduced.

Abstract

Radiotherapy is cancer therapy using radiation. One of the tools used for radiotherapy is the Linac. Using Linac also can have a detrimental effect on radiation workers, patients, and the public. The reaction can cause activation around the room to become radioactive. Therefore, radiation protection is needed. This research aimed to measure environmental radiation exposure as a radiation protection effort around the Linac bunker. This research uses a quantitative method by collecting data directly on the area around the Linac bunker, with a distance of ± 30 cm from the bunker wall, using the STEP OD-02 Detector. The average Linac operation is 2000 hours/year, while the safe dose limit used is 1/2 dose Limit from Nuclear Power Monitoring Agency. Based on measurements of environmental radiation exposure, there are eight areas classified as safe and four other regions experiencing radiation leakage, including Doors with a radiation exposure difference of 0.078 Sv/hour; West Field (0.074 Sv/hour); TPS Room (0.302 Sv/hour); and Meeting Rooms (0.199 Sv/hour), but still within the safe limit of radiation dose. The environmental radiation exposure around the Linac Radiotherapy bunker is safe.

Abstract

The use of handphone is increasing, making handphone users have to focus more on the side effects of using handphone on health. Handphone is included in the category of electromagnetic waves. Exposure to electromagnetic fields can affect human health, especially the hematological profile. This type of research is observational research with a descriptive approach. Hemoglobin, erythrocyte, leukocyte and thrombocyte levels were obtained from the results of blood checks in the laboratory. The results showed that exposure to handphone radiation caused a decrease in hemoglobin levels up to 11%, an increase in erythrocyte levels up to 13%, an increase in leukocyte levels up to 14%, and an increase in thrombocyte levels up to 35%.Handphone radiation triggersoxidative stress caused by formation of ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species).

Abstract

The low level of numeracy literacy in Indonesia causes human resources to be uncompetitive. To solve these problems, through the Kampus Mengajar Program Batch 5, students develop programs that are implemented during their assignment at SD Negeri 12 Kabila. The purpose of this activity is to find out the role of Kampus Mengajar students Batch 5 in increasing students' numeracy literacy. The method used in this activity is descriptive method. The results of the activity show that the Kampus Mengajar Program Batch 5 is very influential in realizing an increase in numeracy literacy in students. Students as agents of change also play an important role in increasing enthusiasm, learning motivation and student learning outcomes as well as creating fun and enjoyable learning media.

Abstract

Noise is a sound that is not desired because it is not in accordance with the context of activity, space, and time so it can cause disturbances to comfort and even human health. Twoof the basic ingredients of a silencer are husk and bran. This research aimed to determine the effect and model of the relationship of the density of the sample mixture of husks and bran on acoustic waves' reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient. The method used in this research is experimental, using a mixture of husk and bran samples whose density consists of 5 variations. The results showed that the husk and bran mixture's sample density strongly affected the reflection coefficient (r = 0.947 to r = 0.966) and the transmission coefficient (r = -0.962 to r = -0.999). These resultsshow that the greater the sample density of the husk and bran mixture, the greater the absorption intensity fraction produced. Statistically, the level of influence is indicated by the correlation coefficient, whose value is around r = 0.95 to r = 0.99. Based on the results, the reflection and transmission coefficients are influenced by the density of the mixture of husk and bran samples.

Abstract

This study aims to visualize the temperature distribution on metal plates by solving elliptic differential equations using the help of the Microsoft Excel program. Many physics problems have limited analytic solutions so a numerical solution is needed. One of them is about the temperature distribution on a homogeneous metal plate in a steady-state conditionThe equation of heat flow in steady-state conditions is an elliptic partial differential equation (PDE). By solving this equation, we will have a numerical model of the plate that can be a mesh with a certain temperature point. Each point has been known to calculate the temperature value. The temperature value influenced. The Temperature value influenced borders on the plate and the presence of heat generation. The edge of the plate can be a constant temperature, a convection zone with the outside air, or an isolated edge. This model is then processed using Microsoft Excel with the iteration calculation until the temperature distribution value is obtained. The results obtained a graphical visualization of temperature distribution on the plate.

Abstract

The increasing need for electrical energy due to technological growth requires using sustainable alternative energy sources. One potential energy source is solar energy, which can be converted into electricity through a thermoelectric generator (TEG). This study aims to design an optimal TEG configuration in converting heat from zinc roofs into electricity and to analyze the effect of variations in the shape of zinc roofs on the electrical power generated. The method used is an experiment with variations in the type of zinc roof, e.g. plate, wave, and box, and the TEG circuit configuration, e.g series and parallel. Measurements were made on the temperature, voltage, current, and electrical power generated, both with and without supercapacitors as energy storage. The results showed that zinc plates with a parallel configuration produced the highest electrical power of 0.01372 W, compared to zinc boxes and wave zinc. The parallel configuration proved to be more efficient than the series configuration. In addition, using supercapacitors also increases the electrical power generated and allows for greater energy storage.

Abstract

Lake Limboto in Gorontalo is an essential ecosystem for local communities, particularly fishermen, yet fish-pond activities have increased sedimentation and accelerated the lake's degradation. Effective conservation efforts require sediment-characterization analysis, including vertical sediment profiles in pond areas, which has been limited by the lack of appropriate drilling techniques. This study aims to evaluate a vertical sediment-sampling technique in fish-pond zones using a survey method and shallow drilling with an XY-1A spindle-type drilling machine at depths of 1–15 meters. The results indicate that drilling stability is strongly influenced by the structural integrity of the machine's support base, particularly due to water currents and waves in the lake. This drilling technique is recommended for sediment sampling in Lake Limboto, especially in pond areas, and contributes to the advancement of sediment-drilling methods in similar aquatic environments.
