Abstract

Reading comprehension is a topic vastly studied in the field of language learning. With the rapid development of digital technology, more focus on digital tools regarding reading comprehension is deemed necessary to find the best tool to aid its improvement. This study aimed to discover how the wordwall.net website affected seventh-grade students' reading comprehension in a descriptive text learning topic at SMP Al Amanah South Tangerang. The current quantitative study used a pre-experimental design. Twenty-eight students of class VII C were the sample for this investigation. The pre and post-tests serve as data-collecting tools. Using the t-test formula, the researcher examines how student test scores differ both before and after the treatment is applied. The paired sample t-test table shows the t count is 10.726, and the critical t at the significant level (p) = 0.05 is 1.703. Considering these results, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is conceded. A significant effect of using the wordwall.net website for reading comprehension in grade 7 at SMP Al-Amanah has been found. The study shows that wordwall.net and other similar sites can be very helpful in making learning more fun and interactive, leading to better grades for students.

Abstract

Abstract

This study looks into the most common errors made by students in first grade at SMA 70 when writing narratives, particularly when using the simple past tense. To look into and analyze the mistakes made by the students, the study uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Samples of first-grade student' narrative writing were used to gather data. The investigation found that 67% of all errors were caused by misformation through analysis. These grammatical mistakes reveal a lack of knowledge and expertise in employing the proper forms of the simple past tense. The results of this study provide information about the precise areas in which students have difficulty when writing narratives, particularly when it comes to verb tense. By being aware of these typical mistakes, teachers can create specific instructional strategies to aid students in developing their narrative writing abilities and advancing their command of the simple past tense.

Abstract

PT Philips Industries Batam is a company engaged in the manufacturing sector. One of the production processes carried out at PT Philips Industries Batam is the molding process. In the industrial world, the molding process has several types of defects that can affect product quality. The highest number of defects was identified to find the root cause using the Pareto and Fishbone diagram. This research aims to identify the factors causing the defect. Parameters on the Haitian MA 1200 machine were identified to determine the cause of the flow mark defect, thereby improving the quality level of the produced products. From five trials, the optimal parameter setting value was found in the fifth trial. The parameter settings consist of the start post: inject 1 with a value of 63, inject 2 with a value of 42, pressure: inject 1 with a value of 165, inject 2 with a value of 155. Pressure: hold 1 with a value of 55, hold 2 with a value of 45, and flow: hold 1 with a value of 18 and hold 2 with a value of 13. The flow mark defect on the Haitian MA 1200 machine effectively decreased by adjusting certain parameters.

Abstract

The hydroponic pilot project in the Batam State Polytechnic area was motivated by problems with economic conditions and declining health conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. This project is expected to support the "growing your own food movement" in an effort to reduce unemployment, increase food security and a healthy lifestyle. The hydroponic method was chosen because it is very easy to do and does not require a large area of "‹"‹land. In this community service activity, a hydroponic plant building framework will be made as a prototype of an efficient and efficient hydroponic building so that it can be used by the wider community. This activity is also useful for applying design knowledge as one of the PbL activities carried out by CAD, CNC, CAM, and Fabrication Engineering courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department, so that it can become an arena for higher education participation to support people's lives. The method of implementing this community service activity is to make observations to find a suitable area to build a hydroponic plant house, then the results of the observations are poured in the form of a design by utilizing software so that the materials needed and the shape of the framework that is built can be known. The last activity is making a hydroponic plant place. This activity is planned to be carried out from April to November 2021. Based on the results of the evaluation of the service program questionnaire for product distribution, it is known that the majority of respondents are satisfied with the products produced.

The end result is a game that imitates the Spinning Wheel Game while teaching English writing techniques that can increase students' interest, challenge their thinking and enable them to produce procedural texts while playing. The spinning wheel was used after the researcher explained the material about the procedure text. Students are asked to make groups and each group gets a different theme. themes are randomized with spinning wheel games by web wheelofnames.com. Therefore, the game is one of the tools that can be used in learning English, there are many learning media for learning writing skills. One game that can be used is Spinning Wheel. By using games students can learn to write procedure texts in a fun and interesting way. The spinning wheel game can be chosen as a tool for students to write procedure texts correctly and clearly. Abstract

Effective communication necessitates discussions about the topic at hand, highlighting the significance of speaking skills. Proficiency in speaking significantly impacts one's character, requiring consistent practice to refine sentence structure and pronunciation. Leveraging practice methods, such as utilizing media like animation series, contributes significantly to honing speaking abilities. While grammar is often overlooked in everyday conversation, the essence lies in mutual understanding during dialogues. Vocabulary acquisition, mainly through regular reading, notably aids language fluency, especially in foreign languages. A teacher's role extends beyond content delivery to understanding the learning context and methods, encouraging students to apply what they've learned. Fostering self-confidence in students, particularly during the transition from junior to senior high school, is pivotal in teaching language skills. Integrating reading and listening into speaking lessons enriches vocabulary and enhances comprehension skills indispensable for effective communication. This study demonstrates the importance of effective communication as individuals convey information or messages during conversations. The focus is on emphasizing the necessity for teachers to prioritize enhancing speaking skills among students in classrooms. Improving students' proficiency in foreign languages is crucial, and it is intertwined with the utilization of appropriate media.
