Abstract

Effective communication necessitates discussions about the topic at hand, highlighting the significance of speaking skills. Proficiency in speaking significantly impacts one's character, requiring consistent practice to refine sentence structure and pronunciation. Leveraging practice methods, such as utilizing media like animation series, contributes significantly to honing speaking abilities. While grammar is often overlooked in everyday conversation, the essence lies in mutual understanding during dialogues. Vocabulary acquisition, mainly through regular reading, notably aids language fluency, especially in foreign languages. A teacher's role extends beyond content delivery to understanding the learning context and methods, encouraging students to apply what they've learned. Fostering self-confidence in students, particularly during the transition from junior to senior high school, is pivotal in teaching language skills. Integrating reading and listening into speaking lessons enriches vocabulary and enhances comprehension skills indispensable for effective communication. This study demonstrates the importance of effective communication as individuals convey information or messages during conversations. The focus is on emphasizing the necessity for teachers to prioritize enhancing speaking skills among students in classrooms. Improving students' proficiency in foreign languages is crucial, and it is intertwined with the utilization of appropriate media.

Abstract

A Literary works and social realities that occur in the social environment of society are inseparably linked. The conflicts raised can be in the form of problems experienced in everyday life. One of the conflicts that often occurs and is discussed in a literary work is about feminism. This research aims to find the image of women in Siti Raham contained in the novel Buya Hamka by A. Faudi. The figure of Siti Raham who is the wife of Buya Hamka is the subject of discussion in this study. The research method used is a qualitative method that is descriptive of the observed object. The data source used in this research is the novel Buya Hamka by A. Faudi. The feminist approach is used to analyze the image of female characters based on the physical, psychological, and social aspects of the story. The results of this research show that from various categories, it can be concluded that Siti Raham is a great woman and is successful as a child, wife, mother and in the social environment of society. She was able to raise 10 children, even when her husband was away from them.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to know the influence using journaling on EMMO application to enhance students’ descriptive text writing. This research was conducted in SMP Arraisiyah Pamulang, South Tangerang. The population of this research was 8th grade students and the sample was grade 8.2 consist of 37 students. The method of this study was quantitative method using pre-experimental design. To collect the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test as an instrument that given to the students. The result score of the data concluded that the total score of students in pre-test were 2.352 with the average score was 63.57. The lowest score in pre-test were 36 and the highest score is 85. The total score of students in post-test were 2.963 with the average 80.08. The lowest score of post-test were 60 and the highest score were 95. The result showed that there was significant different between students’ pre-test and post-test scores. Also from the results of the t-test, the tcalculation obtained is higher than the ttable (17.198 2.028). It means that there is a significant change and effect in students' pre-test to students' post-test scores and using journaling prompts on the EMMO application can enhance students' descriptive text writing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas dari penggunaan model Picture Word Inductive dalam memperkuat kemampuan menulis naratif teks siswa. Metode kuantitatif dengan disain kuasi eksperimen digunakan dalam studi ini. Sejumlah 60 siswa kelas X pada SMAN 10 Pandeglng, Banten, Indonesia, berpartisipasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Siswa ini terbagi dalam dua kelas yang langsung ditentukan oleh peneliti sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dalam mengumpulkan data, post-test menulis esai naratif diberikan pada kedua kelompok kelas siswa tersebut setelah tindakan mengajar selesai. Dalam menganalisis data, rumus statistic t-test digunakan untuk menentukan perbedaan capaian siswa dalam test tersebut. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata yang dicapai siswa pada kelas eksperimen (78,4) lebih tinggi daripada capaian siswa pada kelas kontrol (54,2). Selanjutnya, efektifitas dari model Picture Word Inductive ini juga terlihat dari hasil perhitungan pada Independent -t-test dimana t-hitung lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (7.841.997) pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa model Picture Word Inductive efektif digunakan dalam memperkuat kemampuan menulis naratif teks siswa kelas X. Hal ini berarti hipotesis nol ditolak, hipotesis alternatif diterima.

Abstract

Pelayanan data yang cepat, akurat, dan mudah diakses kini menjadi kebutuhan utama masyarakat, termasuk di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB). Melalui Pelayanan Statistik Terpadu (PST), BPS Provinsi NTB hadir tidak hanya sebagai penyedia data, tetapi juga sebagai pendamping dalam pemahaman dan pemanfaatan informasi statistik. Kegiatan pendampingan ini dilaksanakan melalui dua metode, yaitu layanan secara online dan kunjungan langsung. Setiap metode dirancang untuk mempermudah akses dan konsultasi data bagi pengguna, khususnya mahasiswa dan instansi pemerintah. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan tingginya kepuasan pengguna terhadap layanan PST, baik dari segi kecepatan, kejelasan informasi, maupun sikap petugas. Keterlibatan mahasiswa magang turut memberi warna tersendiri dalam pelayanan, menjadikan suasana lebih komunikatif dan adaptif. Meskipun masih ditemui kendala teknis pada sistem digital, PST tetap menjadi rujukan utama bagi pencari data di NTB. Kesimpulannya, keberadaan PST sangat membantu meningkatkan literasi data dan penggunaan data berbasis bukti di kalangan masyarakat.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPerkembangan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam bidang pendidikan menghadirkan peluang sekaligus tantangan bagi guru bahasa, khususnya dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan relevansi pembelajaran di era digital. Berdasarkan analisis situasi di Kota Sukabumi, guru bahasa umumnya telah mengenal AI secara konseptual, namun masih menghadapi keterbatasan keterampilan praktis, literasi pedagogis berbasis AI, serta kesadaran etis dalam pemanfaatannya di kelas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memetakan kesiapan guru bahasa dalam mengintegrasikan AI serta meningkatkan kompetensi digital dan pedagogis mereka melalui pelatihan berbasis kebutuhan nyata. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan participatory action research yang meliputi analisis kebutuhan, sosialisasi dan pengisian angket kesiapan, pelatihan pemantapan pemanfaatan AI, serta pendampingan pascapelatihan. Mitra sasaran kegiatan adalah 20 guru bahasa (Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris) dari 20 sekolah jenjang SMP dan SMA di Kota Sukabumi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kesiapan guru berada pada kategori sedang dengan skor rata-rata 3,48, dengan pengetahuan AI tergolong cukup tinggi, keterampilan penggunaan AI masih sedang, dan sikap terhadap AI bersifat positif. Pelatihan yang diberikan berdampak pada peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru, ditunjukkan oleh kenaikan skor kesiapan pascapelatihan sebesar 17,9%, serta meningkatnya kepercayaan diri guru dalam memanfaatkan AI secara kreatif dan etis dalam pembelajaran bahasa.Kata Kunci: Artificial Intelligence; guru Bahasa; literasi digital; pembelajaran Bahasa; kesiapan guru pemberdayaan. ABSTRACTThe development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education presents both opportunities and challenges for language teachers, particularly in enhancing the quality and relevance of learning in the digital era. Based on a situational analysis conducted in Sukabumi City, language teachers generally possess conceptual awareness of AI; however, they still face limitations in practical skills, AI-based pedagogical literacy, and ethical awareness in classroom implementation. This community service program aims to map language teachers’ readiness to integrate AI and to improve their digital and pedagogical competencies through needs-based training. The program employed a participatory action research approach consisting of needs analysis, socialization and readiness questionnaire administration, AI utilization reinforcement training, and post-training mentoring. The target partners were 20 language teachers (Indonesian and English) from 20 junior and senior high schools in Sukabumi City. The results indicate that teachers’ readiness was at a moderate level, with an average score of 3.48. Teachers’ AI knowledge was categorized as relatively high, their AI usage skills were at a moderate level, and their attitudes toward AI were positive. The training activities led to improvements in teachers’ understanding and skills, as evidenced by a 17.9% increase in post-training readiness scores and increased teacher confidence in using AI creatively and ethically in language learning. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence; Language Teachers; Digital Literacy; Language Learning; Teacher Readiness; Empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of silent reading through the use of the Medium App in improving students’ reading comprehension skills. Reading comprehension is an essential language skill that requires learners to understand, interpret, and critically analyze written texts. With the advancement of educational technology, digital applications supported by artificial intelligence—such as the Medium App—offer adaptive features that enable a more personalized and interactive reading experience. Through the silent reading method, students are given the opportunity to read at their own pace without the constraints of oral articulation, allowing for greater focus and deeper processing of meaning. Previous research indicates that silent reading assisted by digital platforms can enhance reading fluency, enrich vocabulary, and improve learning motivation. However, the integration of both approaches has rarely been examined comprehensively. This study employs a literature review approach to explore how the use of the Medium App in silent reading activities can significantly influence students’ reading comprehension. The findings highlight that the combination of silent reading strategies and adaptive technology has the potential to serve as an effective instructional method for improving literacy, particularly among intermediate English language learners.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Disney Narrative stories on improving students' listening skills at the junior high school level. A quantitative pre-experimental design involving 23 eighth-grade students was employed. The instruments consisted of pre-test and post-test listening assessments, as well as a validated and reliable instrument (Crobach’s Alpha = 0.910). The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ Listening skills after the treatment. The mean pre-test score was 66.53, increasing to 87.67 on the post-test. A paired sample T-test indicated a statistically significant difference between the two scores (t=-6.666, p < 0.001). The effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.39) demonstrated a very large impact of the intervention. These findings confirm that Disney narrative stories are effective teaching media for enhancing listening skills. The engaging storyline, visual context, and familiar language structures help students improve literal understanding, inferential thinking, vocabulary recognition, and narrative-based audiovisual materials in listening instruction to promote meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengimplementasikan Forward Kinematics pada robot lengan 4-DOF untuk pembuatan kopi otomatis. Prototipe menggunakan Arduino Uno, PCA9685, servo MG996R/MG90S, relay, dan pompa air mini. Gerakan diprogram dengan teach mode dan disimpan di EEPROM dengan kontrol open-loop. Metode Forward Kinematics dengan parameter Denavit-Hartenberg digunakan untuk menghitung posisi end effector dan divalidasi melalui pengukuran fisik pada 30 titik uji. Hasil menunjukkan error rata-rata 1,36 cm dengan tingkat keberhasilan 83% dan waktu eksekusi rata-rata 29,47 detik per siklus. Penelitian ini membuktikan metode Forward Kinematics dengan parameter DH efektif untuk validasi akurasi posisi robot lengan open-loop pada aplikasi F&B, serta prototipe dapat meningkatkan otomasi produksi skala kecil di industri F&B.

Abstract

Abstrak:Kecakapan berbicara bahasa Inggris guru bahasa Inggris berperan penting dalam membantu peserta didik untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran bahasa tersebut. Teknik yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kecakapan ini harus diperhatikan oleh mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan, dimana mahasiswa calon guru-guru bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji apakah oral presentasi efektif untuk pembelajaran kecakapan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain pretest/posttest dengan sampel 52 orang mahasiswa semester II Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta tahun akademik 2012/2013. Data dari hasil penelitian ini dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan dideskripsikan dalam bentuk persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa oral presentasi efektif dalam pembelajaran berbahasa Inggris, karena hasil post-test baik dari segi isi materi paparan (content) maupun cara penyajian materi (delivery) lebih tinggi nilainya dibandingkan hasil pretestnya. Oleh karena itu, teknik oral presentasi ini menjadi alternatif pilihan teknik pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris pada pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: berbicara, kecakapan berbicara, oral presentasi. Abstract:English teachers’ proficiency in speaking English plays a major role to help students achieve the objectives of learning English. The appropriate method to improve this proficiency should be taken into consideration by students in English department where they are prepared to become English teachers. This study is aimed to examine the effectiveness of oral presentation to improve students’ proficiency in speaking English. An experimental method applied in this study in which 52 students of second semester from English department in Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta in the academic year of 2012-2013 were chosen as the sample. The results of the study were quantitavely analyzed and described in percentages. The findings of the study show that students’ post-test results both in the content and delivery technique of the presentation were higher than those in the pre-test. It is hoped that this oral presentation is potential as an alternative technique for English teachers in teaching English speaking skill.Keywords: speaking, proficiency, oral presentation
