Abstract

This study aims to see students' learning motivation in post-pandemic mathematics learning. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were 20 respondents of class VIII students in one of the junior high schools in Cimahi city. Data collection uses a questionnaire on student learning motivation in mathematics learning which has 10 statements that have positive and negative values. With the following indicators of desire and desire to succeed; encouragement and need to learn; hopes and ideals of the future; awards in learning and interesting activities in learning. This statement is used to find out respondents' answers regarding student learning motivation in mathematics learning. The results of the study showed that students had good motivation judging from the average percentage of indicators, namely 66.1% and was included in the strong category.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe how well students understood relational and functional mathematics. By examining the typical student responses to prepared instrument questions, descriptive qualitative research methodology is applied. The study's instrument was a written test of math comprehension that had six questions and three indicators of math understanding: classifying objects with specific properties in accordance with the concept, presenting the concept in various mathematical representations, and using a problem-solving strategy or algorithm. 30 pupils from SMPN 3 Ngamprah in grade VIII served as the study's subjects. According to the analysis's findings, class VIII pupils at SMPN 3 Ngamprah's mathematics knowledge abilities were rated as low, and students received a sufficient.

Abstract

This study focused on analyzing student errors in problem solving questions in terms of Newman's theory on questions in the subject matter of Arithmetic Sequences and Series. The subjects in this study were 10 students of class XI IPA 2 at Al-Mukhtariyah Rajamandala High School using a descriptive qualitative method. For the technical implementation, students were given questions directly in class. Based on the results of the analysis in this study, students' errors in reading error) that is equal to 62%, then an error in understanding the problem (comprehension error) that is getting a result of 60%, then an error in transforming (transformation error) that is equal to 52%, an error in the completion process stage (process skill error) is 26%, and finally an error in writing the final answer (encoding error) that is getting a percentage of 20%. If seen from the mistakes that have been made, students are still low in problem solving.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the student difficulties in the SPLDV material. This research is a quantitative descriptive study that examines students difficulties yn the SPLDV material based on indicators (1) Modeling the SPLDV (2) Analyzing the completion of the SPLDV (3) Finding the solution to the SPLDV using Elimination and Subtitution methods (4) Summarizing the grap and (5) Linking the SPLDV in everyday life. The research was carried out in one of the private junior high school in Padalarang. The subjects of this research ere 15 students who have studied the SPLDV material. The data collection is by giving questions to student. The data analysis technique went though three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that there are still students who have difficulty in concluding the indicators of the graph, this can be seen from the average value of 27% which belong to the very poor category. It is also found that the factors that make the indicators on the SPLDV material esperience difficulties are the lack of accuracy when working on problems, difficulty in classifying known objects, and not mastering the concepts and principles of SPLDV.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the students' difficulties in solving problems on the flat side of the space. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with the population used is 26 junior high school students in one of the schools in Cianjur Regency. The data collection technique carried out in this qualitative descriptive study was carried out by giving a description test question of 5 questions. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation and concluding research results. The conclusion of the data is taken from the percentage of the question indicators and then concludes the average results of the overall indicators. The result of this research is that students are still wrong in solving flat-sided space problems, precisely on questions number 4 and 5, with the indicator for question no 4 is determining the volume of cubes and blocks and question number 5 with indicators determining the surface area of the pyramid. The difficulty of students in solving questions number 4 and 5 is that students do not understand the problems contained in the questions so that students are wrong about taking steps in solving problems. In addition, students' errors in solving flat-sided geometrical problems are (1) negligence in analyzing the problem; (2) Lack of students' accuracy in answering questions; (3) It is difficult to determine how to answer the question.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the misconceptions that often occur in junior high school students on the concept of geometry based on abstraction level. The research method is qualitative with a case study design. Subjects in this study are 27 students of the 3rd grade of junior high school students, who had to learn all the concepts that will be appeared on the test. Material that will be given on the test of this research is the concept of Triangle, Quadrilateral, Flat Side Geometry and Curved Side Geometry. This research takes a place at one of the junior high schools in Cimahi. The instrument in this study is a diagnostic test (to find out the types of students’ misconception), mathematical abstraction tests (to determine the level of abstraction) and interview rubrics. Misconceptions produced by students are closely related to students’ mathematical abstractions, the higher the level of abstraction ability, the more students away from misconceptions. The topic taken in this study is the topic of basic geometry, the results can be a source of information about the types of misconception that often occur in students, and how the solution so that these misconception do not re-occur.
