Abstract

Cubuntu tourist village in Kuningan Regency is an outstanding tourist village actively participating in digital promotion. The success of digital tourism promotion is closely related to the digital literacy skills of tourist village managers. This study aims to analyze the digital literacy of the Cibuntu village tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis) in digital promotion activities. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data were obtained from interviews with four members of the Pokdarwis of Cibuntu village in the field of promotional media and observation of the Cibuntu village promotional media. The results showed that the digital literacy of Pokdarwis Cibuntu village has various aspects of digital skills, including information literacy, communication, and collaboration skills, the ability to develop digital content creation, and the ability to secure digital data. Meanwhile, the ability to solve problems using digital technology has not been able to be done, and the ability to create digital content has been done, but not entirely. The contribution of this research shows that the digital literacy skills possessed by the Pokdarwis of Cibuntu village are learned independently through content on social media. The findings are a consideration for tourism village managers in other regions to encourage Pokdarwis members to learn independently about digital promotion activities amid the wealth of information on social media.

Abstract

This research investigates the role of ChatGPT in human-machine communication, focusing on interaction attributes and user perceptions. The study employs qualitative methods, including interviews with ChatGPT users, word cloud analysis using NVivo 12 Pro, and observation of interactions. Results highlight five frequently occurring codes: "chat," "person," "ChatGPT," "task," and "communication." These findings suggest that ChatGPT is perceived both as a communicative tool and a communicative subject, with AI literacy being crucial for its effective use. The research contributes significantly to understanding the development of technology and communication, showcasing ChatGPT's potential to transform human-machine interactions. It demonstrates how ChatGPT can improve efficiency, creativity, and our understanding of artificial intelligence. The study also explores the comparison between human-human and human-machine communication, emphasizing the unique role of ChatGPT in modern communication dynamics. This research underscores the importance of integrating AI education into curricula and providing clear guidelines for ethical and effective use of AI technologies like ChatGPT

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyoroti fenomena framing pemberitaan terkait elektabilitas calon presiden dan wakil presiden Republik Indonesia 2024 oleh media massa, khususnya Kompas.com. Permasalahan utama yang diangkat adalah bagaimana media membentuk persepsi publik terhadap calon pemimpin melalui pemberitaan yang disajikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis framing model Zhongdang Pan dan Kosicki, yang mencakup analisis struktur sintaksis, skrip, tematik, dan retoris dalam berita-berita yang diterbitkan oleh Kompas.com. Teori yang mendasari penelitian ini adalah teori framing, yang menjelaskan bagaimana media memilih dan menekankan aspek-aspek tertentu dari realitas untuk membentuk persepsi dan opini publik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kompas.com sering menonjolkan aspek-aspek tertentu dari calon, seperti popularitas dan dukungan, dengan menggunakan pilihan kata dan narasi yang spesifik. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa berita yang dipublikasikan memiliki kecenderungan bias tertentu, yang terlihat dari sumber dan cara penyajian informasi. Framing yang dilakukan oleh Kompas.com dapat mempengaruhi opini publik dan persepsi terhadap calon presiden dan wakil presiden. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya literasi media bagi masyarakat, agar dapat menyikapi pemberitaan politik secara kritis, terutama menjelang pemilihan umum. Pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai cara kerja framing media juga penting bagi pengambil kebijakan dan praktisi media untuk menjaga objektivitas dan keseimbangan dalam pemberitaan politik.

Abstract

Social inequality in society is a social issue that is rarely realized by the community because they feel used to it and even cultured with it, even though this social class division is also not an ideology that is embraced and believed by the community. The film Enola Holmes 2, which is a continuation of the first series, has become one of the best-selling films on the Netflix platform with a different storyline compared to other trending films. The purpose of this study is to look at other phenomena that occur apart from the mystery or love story in a film, which is related to the division of social classes and surplus values ??that occur in films where the entire scene is not explained. The research method that is used by researchers is a method with a qualitative approach, John Fiske's semiotics. The researcher assumes that the Marxist movement as socially critical of the capitalists is a breakthrough for the proletariat (workers) not to be complacent in the surplus value that is carried out either openly or covertly.

Abstract

Based on the information from the Principal of SMPN 4 Surakarta, many of her students experienced bullying when using social media and inappropriately expressed their freedom of opinions. As a result, a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Communication and Business, Telkom University conducts a Community Service Activity at SMPN 4 Surakarta entitled "LITERATION OF PEACE DEMOCRACY IN THE DIGITAL ERA IN STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES OF SMPN 4 SURAKARTA" with the aim of helping schools and their students maximize the use of gadgets effectively and safely. This topic is interesting and important to discuss because currently the school is one of the schools that is experiencing climate change in the learning process and social interaction between students due to the zoning system. The aim of this Activity is so students become people with good character and become responsible when using their social media. With the use of participatory, educative method and training the result shows that SMPN 4 Surakarta students, have successfully carried out all the trainings in two different sessions. The first one focuses on Communication area while the second one focuses on the Democracy Literacy. Even though they were forced to get out of their comfort zone in expressing their opinions, SMPN 4 Surakarta students were finally able to apply what they have learned from this training, as evidenced by the presentation at the end of the activity. Abstract

Tiktok saat ini menjadi tempat bertukar informasi yang juga sudah digunakan dan diakses oleh teman Tuli yang ingin menunjukkan dan memperkenalkan diri sebagai orang yang berkebutuhan khusus yang memiliki kemampuan. Keberadaan penyandang disabilitas Tuli di Tiktok biasanya dapat diilihat dari bio profil yang mencantumkan “i’am deaf” atau “saya Tuli”. Akun Tiktok @scoyas_ merupakan salah satu teman Tuli yang memiliki followers sebesar 382,6 ribu dan membagikan kontennya mengenai bahasa isyarat Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat adakah pengaruh konten @scoyas_ terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi bahasa isyarat Indonesia. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitin ini uses and gratification. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan pada penelitian ini. Hasil uji regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan setiap kenaikan satu satuan pada variabel konten BISINDO @scoyas_ maka meningkat juga variabel pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi bahasa isyarat Indonesia sebesar 0.487. Secara hipotesis, Konten @scoyas_ berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi bahasa isyarat pada viewers Tiktok diterima. Hasil koefisien determinasi menunjukkan hasil besar pengaruh Konten @scoyas_ terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi BISINDO sebesar 30.9% dan sisanya 69.1% diperngaruh oleh variabel lainnya yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini.

Abstract

Stereotip mengenai ras kulit hitam sering dikaitkan dengan kemiskinan. Sekumpulan orang Amerika menganggap ras dan kemiskinan dengan berlebihan sehingga orang Afrika-Amerika lama dikenal sebagai orang yang miskin dan malas. Hingga kini isu mengenai kesetaraan yang selalu dibahas dalam american dream masih belum tercapai. Film Fatherhood yang disutradarai oleh Paul Weitz dan dibintangi oleh Kevin Hart adalah sebuah film yang merupakan representasi Mimpi Amerika (American Dream) mengenai kesetaraan atau tidak adanya rasisme, padahal pada kenyataannya masyarakat masih sering mengalami situasi yang berkaitan dengan rasisme terutama pada ras kulit hitam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pesan Mimpi Amerika tergambarkan dalam film Fatherhood. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis menggunakan metode interpretasi. Melalui analisis semiotika John Fiske yang terbagi menjadi 3 level yaitu: level realitas yang terdiri dari kode tampilan, kostum, ekspresi serta gerakan; level representasi yang terdiri dari kode kamera, setting dan juga kode dialog; level ideologi yaitu stereotip rasisme terhadap ras kulit hitam, penulis menemukan adanya upaya untuk mematahkan stereotip yang tertanam dalam benak masyarakat mengenai rasisme terhadap ras kulit hitam, terutama bagi sosok ayah ras kulit hitam. Hal tersebut menunjukkan adanya pesan representasi Mimpi Amerika dibalik film fatherhood.

Abstract

This research is titled "Efforts of the Protocol and Communications of the Leadership of Bandung City in Presenting Information through the Instagram Social Media Account @halobandung." The main objective of this study is to describe and analyze the efforts made by the Protocol and Communications of the Leadership of Bandung City (Prokopim) in presenting information through the Instagram account @halobandung. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach to understand the phenomena of communication, collaboration, education, and entertainment implemented by Prokopim. Social media, especially Instagram, has become an important communication tool for the Bandung City Government to interact with the public. Through content analysis and interviews with six informants, this study found that Prokopim has successfully implemented an effective communication strategy by conveying information related to government activities, collaboration with other agencies, as well as education through relevant and entertaining content. The Instagram account @halobandung also shows consistency in content management and is able to increase public engagement. The main findings of this study indicate that Prokopim has utilized four pillars of social media strategy, namely communication, collaboration, education, and entertainment, in presenting information. This strategy not only successfully increases interaction with the public but also builds awareness and public participation in various government programs. This research is expected to serve as a reference for other government agencies in optimizing the use of social media for effective public communication.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between uses & gratifications of watching Windah Basudara’s gaming content. Windah Basudara is a content creator who creates gaming content on the YouTube platform. The uniqueness and easily-accepted humor have made Windah a beloved content creator by many YouTube users, resulting in 13.1 million subscribers to the Windah Basudara channel. Each subscriber surely has a motive in watching Windah Basudara's content and seeks satisfaction in the content they watch. Therefore, this study will use the uses & gratification theory by Elihu Katz, which states that motives and satisfaction are always related, and the satisfaction obtained is the satisfaction derived from the desired motives. This study uses a quantitative research method with an explanatory approach and a positivist paradigm using the survey method. The population in this study amounts to 13,130,439 subscribers. The sample selection technique uses non-probability sampling and produces 400 samples using the Slovin formula. Using the new media motives described by Papacharissi & Rubin (2000) consisting of interpersonal utility, passing time, seeking information, convenience, and entertainment, the results of this study show that the correlation coefficient of motives (X) to gratifications (Y) has a Sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05 and a Pearson Correlation r value of 0.776 > r table 0.098, indicating that motives (X) have a strong relationship with gratifications (Y). Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji penerimaan pesan satire dalam konten TikTok @pandawaragroup dengan memanfaatkan teori resepsi khalayak Stuart Hall untuk memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana pesan satire di media sosial dipersepsikan dan diinterpretasikan. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi analisis konten serta dokumentasi berupa konten TikTok @pandawaragroup, penelitian ini melibatkan 9 pengikut aktif akun tersebut. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa 4 informan berada di dalam posisi dominan dimana mereka sejalan dengan pesan-pesan satire, sementara 5 orang berada dalam posisi negosiasi dimana mereka sejalan dengan makna pesan satire namun memiliki pandangan alternatifnya tersendiri. Tidak ada informan yang berada di posisi oposisi. Secara umum, keseluruhan informan sejalan dengan makna pesan satire yang disampaikan melalui konten-konten TikTok @pandawaragroup, menyoroti bagaimana penggunaan satire dapat menjadi alat yang efektif untuk membangun kesadaran lingkungan atau mengkritik isu-isu sosial. Temuan lain menunjukkan bahwa media sosial dapat menjadi alat efektif untuk edukasi lingkungan serta advokasi sosial.
