Abstract

Research Problem: The religious teachings of ancestors, commonly referred to as "beliefs" in Indonesia, have existed since ancient times but face a dilemmatic position in the context of officially recognized religions. These local belief systems often encounter discrimination and marginalization, despite their coexistence with recognized religions. The tension between local beliefs and state-recognized religions highlights the ongoing challenges of religious tolerance and inclusivity in Indonesia. Research Purposes: This study aims to examine the existence and recognition of local religions within the framework of Indonesia’s official religious policies. It seeks to explore how local beliefs coexist with state-recognized religions and to understand the impact of legal recognition on reducing discrimination against adherents of these belief systems. Research Methods: The research employs qualitative methods to analyze the historical, sociocultural, and legal dynamics affecting local religions in Indonesia. It draws from case studies, legal documentation, and interviews to provide an in-depth understanding of the issue. Results and Discussion: The findings reveal that adherents of local religions often experience discrimination, stemming from their exclusion from official religious recognition. The Constitutional Court's decision No. 97/PUU-XIV/2016 marked a significant turning point, granting legal acknowledgment to local belief systems and addressing some aspects of discrimination. Despite these advances, tensions remain, but official religions generally promote tolerance and foster coexistence among diverse communities. Research Implications and Contributions: This study highlights the importance of fostering tolerance and inclusivity in multicultural societies. It contributes to understanding the challenges faced by local belief systems in Indonesia and underscores the need for policy and societal efforts to strengthen religious harmony. The findings also provide a foundation for further research on the interplay between legal recognition, religious diversity, and social cohesion.

Abstract

Pesantren holds a significant position in Indonesia's educational system, functioning as key institutions for religious education and cultural preservation. This study aims to examine the implementation of religious moderation policies within pesantren to encourage interfaith understanding and collaboration among diverse religious groups in Indonesia. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research gathered data from interviews, surveys, and document analysis across a range of pesantren in Indonesia. Findings reveal multiple initiatives to foster religious moderation, including incorporating interfaith education into curricula, enhancing students' critical thinking skills, and promoting gender equality practices. These efforts have been met with successes and challenges; while students benefit from a broader perspective, obstacles such as resource limitations, cultural norms, and resistance to change were notable. This study underscores the vital role of pesantren in promoting religious moderation, which is crucial for nurturing understanding and peace among Indonesia's religious communities. These findings offer meaningful insights for policymakers, educators, and community leaders on advancing religious tolerance and empathy within Islamic education, supporting the development of a more inclusive and cohesive society.

Abstract

Recurrent flooding in Dayeuhkolot District, Bandung Regency, demonstrates the ineffectiveness of disaster risk reduction policy implementation. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of these policies in building regional resilience to flooding. The method used is descriptive qualitative with triangulation techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results show that flooding is triggered by natural factors (high rainfall, basin topography), technical (inadequate drainage), and social (population density, waste disposal behavior, and low community participation) factors. The conclusion of this study shows that these three natural, technical, and social factors are interrelated and collectively increase the region's vulnerability to flooding, while the implementation of flood risk reduction policies is considered suboptimal due to weak coordination between institutions and minimal active community involvement. This study contributes to providing a basis for the formulation of more adaptive, collaborative, and locally appropriate policies to strengthen regional resilience to flooding.

Abstract

ANALYSIS OF RESIDENTS OF RW 13 MANJAHLEGA, BANDUNG CITY ON WASTE MANAGEMENT This study aims to analyze the community’s behavior and participation in waste management in RW 13 Manjahlega, Bandung City, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the analytical framework. The research employed a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observations, focus group discussions (FGDs), and open-ended questionnaires with ten informants selected using purposive sampling. The findings reveal a significant gap between residents’ awareness of waste management and its practical implementation. Economic constraints, limited infrastructure, and weak social norms were identified as major barriers that hinder consistent waste segregation and recycling practices. The study highlights that strengthening community-based initiatives supported by local government policies, additional waste sorting facilities, and continuous environmental education are essential for improving participation. This research contributes to the development of localized waste management strategies that integrate behavioral insights to promote sustainable urban practices.

Abstract

The main focus that must be considered by the government is public satisfaction, which is reflected in the establishment of the Public Service Mall (MPP) as an effort to facilitate public access to administrative services. The purpose of this study is to identify the level of public satisfaction with the existence of MPP in Bandung City and analyze the factors that influence satisfaction. This research uses a mixed method, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that the people of Bandung City were generally satisfied with the services provided, especially in terms of ease of procedures, speed of service time, fairness of tariffs, and comfort of facilities. The behavioral aspects of service officers related to friendliness and politeness also received high appreciation from the community. However, there are shortcomings, namely the inconsistency of employee attendance at MPP Bandung City. Evaluation continues to be carried out to ensure the improvement of public services in Bandung City. This study concludes that MPP Bandung City has met the standard indicators set out in Permen PAN Number 14 of 2017 by evaluating and continuously improving the aspects of service that are still lacking. This research contributes to improving public satisfaction, shows the importance of active community participation in service evaluation and improvement to improve the quality of public services in the future, and can also be a reference for other local governments that plan to implement MPP in their area.
