Actions away from homosexuality have an impact on homosexuals getting the stigma of sinners and ultimately being marginalized by the existing social system, including the church. There is an injustice felt by homosexuals. This problem is the main focus in this article. By using qualitative methodologies, specifically by studying various literatures as material for analysis and then responding to the problems set forth in the form of narratives, the authors try to build ethical-Christian attitudes toward homosexuals. Ethically - Christianity, the practice of homosexuality is an unacceptable act, but against homosexual actors, the church must dare to accept them as brothers because their existence as human beings is the same, namely as 'imago Dei’.

Abstract

Mystical Theology of Hope for a Restoration: The Interpretation of Ezekiel 37: 1-14. Various problems in the world have made humans live in suffering, especially when facing a pandemic which is still ongoing today. Humans need strength and certainty to face these difficult times in order to rise from adversity and experience restoration that is able to bring life into hope. This article examines efforts to cultivate hope theologically by describing a mystical theological view of hope in Ezekiel 37: 1-14. By using qualitative methods, especially through the approach of textual interpretation that examines the text to find the core of the news, the main message is found in the view of the mystical theology of the hope of the Prophet Ezekiel regarding the picture of Israel's recovery in exile, through Ezekiel's vision of the condition of dry bones scattered in the valley. The final findings of this article reveal that restoration from God is both a physical and a spiritual one that is represented by the act of God's Spirit awakening the dry bones. This event contains a bright hope for Israel, and for humans who believe, that life will be restored as long as humans are willing to keep themselves faithful as God's people.

Abstract

The issue of sexuality becomes crucial when there is sexual violence in the family, including Christian families. Sexual violence can take both physical and non-physical forms, and one of them is about the decision on a soman’s pregnancy is determined by the man. It is said to be a form of sexual violence, because it is actually a woman who has a uterus, so the decision to get pregnant or not must be determined by women, not men. Therefore, the understanding of sexuality must be developed through the right understanding, so that in marriage and family Christians do not live in sexual violence. The way to that is to explore the understanding of sexuality in Genesis 2:21-25 in order to build a theology of sexuality. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach enriched with textual exegesis methods on Genesis 2:21-25. The results of the study reveal that the theology of sexuality opens awareness that a balanced position between men and women is the basis for the understanding that men and women have their own rights, so that there should be no interference with each other's rights. Although a man and a woman are bound in a marriage, in determining the rights of the womb, women are the decision makers, not men.

Abstract

Understanding of God is very important in religious life, especially when religion is confronted with culture. There needs to be contextualization efforts in understanding God comprehensively so that it can be accepted from a religious as well as cultural perspective. Through this, God is not only understood correctly Biblically, but at the same time is understood based on the context of the local community. This article aims to find the understanding of God in the Minahasa context by contextualizing the understanding of God in the Bible with the local context. This article uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach for research into the Minahasa cultural context coupled with a critical interpretation of biblical research, especially Genesis 1:26-28. The results of the study prove that God, known as El Shadday in the Bible understanding can be contextualized with the understanding of Dewi Karema, so that God in the form of El Shadday understood by Minahasa culture is not just a masculine God but also a feminine God. Thus the God of El Shadday in the Bible is not a foreign God in the life of the Minahasa tribe, but a God who is very close to human life, especially in the figure of Dewi Karema.

Abstract

Mystical theology is often underestimated and labeled as theology that does not touch the problems of life. This article attempts to further examine the existence of mystical theology by examining and exploring the nature of mystical theology from the story of Paul's mystical experience in II Cor. 12:1-10 which is compared to Bima's mystical experience in Dewa Ruci's story. By using qualitative methods, especially narrative studies of the two mystical stories, a new understanding is found that mystical theology is not a floating theology, but an earthly theology, because mystical theology invites humans to be directly involved in the life and suffering of the world to find a way out of the problem of suffering. man. In order for mystical theology to be grounded in Indonesia, biblical mystical theology needs to be contextualized with culture so that it can be familiar to Indonesian human life. For this reason, churches in Indonesia need to develop contextual mystical theology as a form of theology with a social-praxis nuance, based on the events of Christ (Faith) and grounded in Indonesian life (contextual).

Abstract

In the Old Testament, circumcision was seen as a major part of establishing oneself as part of God's people. In the adoption of Israel as God's people at Sinai, every Israelite must be circumcised. It is based on God's command to Abraham, as a sign of the covenant. But actually the culture of circumcision is not a typical Israeli culture, but is a culture that is common in the Middle East, the only thing that distinguishes the culture of Israeli circumcision from the Middle East is in God's decree in the covenant that raised Israel (a descendant of Abraham) as God's people. So there is a spiritual meaning in the cultural content of circumcision in the Old Testament for the Israelites. It turns out that the spiritual understanding of circumcision is not only owned by Israel, because this is also owned by the Nias Tribe. By using qualitative research methods, which are complemented by a literature study approach, this research results in an understanding that the culture of circumcision for the Nias tribe is a culture that signifies them as God's people. So that circumcision is an absolute for every Nias community.

Abstract

Pastoral service is an important task of the church to maintain the life of the congregation, therefore pastoral assistance is always aimed at life. One form of church pastoral service that has received less attention is assistance to people who are facing death, even though this kind of assistance is highly expected because when facing death someone will be faced with anxiety and fear. The Genesis 27:1-19 narrative highlights the importance of feeding people who are facing death as a form of the child/family's ability to continue to be companions. This story has parallels with the Manulangi Natua-tua culture in the Batak tribe, where through this culture each family member will provide certainty to parents who are facing death that they will still be there to accompany them, so that parents do not need to be afraid and anxious to face death. This study uses a qualitative method, with a narrative interpretation approach to Genesis 27:1-19 and literature research on Batak culture. The results of the study show that mentoring people who are facing death is an important thing that must be done by the church as a form of the church's responsibility towards life.

Abstract

The concept and teachings of redemption become a major desire for every religious person, including Christians. Through the teaching of atonement, every people are made aware that God works to liberate sinful humans through His acts of love. This work of God's liberation is understood as a form of human release from the power of sin so this teaching about redemption becomes the basic core of every religious teaching. One of the redeeming teachings of the Bible is found in the narrative of the bronze serpent statue in Numbers 21:4-9. However, it is not the only religion that talks about the teachings of redemption, every culture also has the teachings of redemption, including in this case the culture in the Nias community called Famatö Harimao. By using qualitative methods, especially library research and textual interpretation approaches, this research shows that the narrative of the copper snake statue can be used as the basis for contextualizing Famatö Harimao culture. The results of the study show that the Famatö Harimao culture which has been contextualized through the basis of Numbers 21:4-9 can still be lived and lived by the people of Nias because through this culture the people of Nias have a concept of redemption that is culturally and biblically accountable.

Abstract

This article aims to show the equality between the Fondrakõ law and the ten Laws as written in Exodus 20:3-17. The equality of these two laws lies in the pattern of the relationship between humans and God and humans with each other. By looking at the equality between these two laws, it can be ascertained that in fact the application of the Fondrakõ law to the lives of the people of Nias is very contextual. The discussion in this article uses the cross-textual reading method, which refers to a comparative-correlative study approach by looking at and finding similarities and differences between the two selected texts. The results of the research show that the Fondrakõ law and the Torah Law are actually two laws that have similarities and are interrelated to one another. Even if there are differences between the two laws, these differences can be used to complement each other and enrich each other's meanings. Thus, Torah law can actually be applied in the life of Nias people through Fondrakõ laws, especially those that regulate the relationship between humans and God and each other.

Abstract

The condition of intolerance that grows and develops in society has resulted in Indonesia being prone to disintegration. The most effective action against this radicalism movement is not done physically but ideologically. The most appropriate ideological tools against this movement are Pancasila and political ethics because both teach about divine and human values. However, both of them still receive less attention and are used in counter-radicalism activities. This study aims to explore the intersection of Pancasila and church political ethics as an antidote to radicalism in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library method. This study indicates that the meeting point between Pancasila and church political ethics lies in the divine value that lives human values. Divine values can only be preserved and developed in human values. It affirms that all forms of oppression and violence that interfere with human values must be rejected and eliminated from the life of the nation and state in Indonesia. Thus, Pancasila and church political ethics in Indonesia can be the most appropriate values to fight radicalism. These findings can make a scientific contribution to increasing the role of the church in living the values of Pancasila to counter radicalism in Indonesia.
