This study aimed to analyze factors affecting lowland rice production in Uetoli village of Ampana Tete sub-district. This village is one of the centers of rice production in Tojo Una-Una district. Population of this study was lowland rice farmers in Uetoli village within which 34 respondents were selected.  Data collected was analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas production function analysis. The results of the study indicated that those variables such as land area (X1), number of seeds (X2), urea fertilizer (X3), phonska fertilizer (X4), and labor (X5) were simultaneously affected the rice production with F-counted value was 58.53 larger than the F-table (3.76) at 1% significance level (α) and R2 value was 0.955 indicating that 95.5% of variation in the rice production (Y) can be described by these variables. The coefficient regression was 0.429 for the land area (X1), 0.217 for the number of seeds (X2), 0.169 for the amount of urea fertilizer (X3), 0.163 for phonska fertilizer (X4), and 0.155 for the labor (X5). Keywords : Cobb-Douglas Production Function, Lowland Rice, and Regression.

Abstract

Land tenure can be used as an illustration of equity control of the main production factors in the agricultural sector. Changes in agricultural land tenure structure will affect agricultural production (farming) both in terms of efficiency and farm income, while the pattern of land ownership represents the state ownership of the main production factors in agricultural production. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the choice of tenure to the use of inputs, attitudes, motivation, work ethic, production and income. The research location is determined by using purposive sampling method, i.e. selecting the study area based on the characteristics or specific reasons are deemed to have a close relationship with the problems examined. The selected area in this study was Sigi District where became one of the centers of rice production, furthermore Subdistrict Gumbasa have been selected because as one of the centers of rice production also has the status of land tenure are more varied in Sigi District. The District Gumbasa selectived 2 Villages where has the highest number of rice farmers such as the Pakuli and Kalawara Village. Respondents in this study amounted to 99 respondents. Factors that affect the status of tenure choice can significantly increase the probability of tenure including the production, input prices, output prices, household income and work ethic, while the factors that were not affect the land tenure were motivation, use of labor and attitudes of farmers.Key Words: Rice, Logit, And Land Tenure.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Determine the influence of land area, number of seeds, the amount of fertilizer and the amount of labor to the production of Non Hybrids peanuts variety in the District of South Totikum, and (2) Determine how much the Non hybrids peanut varieties farm income in the District of South Totikum. The sampling technique in this study is a simple random sampling method. Total population of around 200 non-hybrid peanut farmers. The amount of sample determine as much as 20% of the total population, so the number of samples used in this study were 40 respondents. Analysis of the data used Cobb-Douglass multiple linear regression analysis and the non-hybrid peanut farmer average income analysis. The results showed that the independent variable (Xi)jointly significant effect on the dependent variable (Y) non-hybrid peanut production, the value  of F count 70.903> F-table 4.46, Coefficient of determination R2 = 0.995 and R2 adjstsq = 0.995. means 99.5% Variation Value of non-hybrid peanut production (Y) can be explained by the variable land area (X1), the number of seeds (X2), fertilizers (X3), Labor (X4) and pesticides (X5) whereas 0.5 % more can be explained other models. Land area variable, number of seeds, fertilizer, labor, and pesticides, simultaneously can affect the production of non-hybrid peanut farm in the district of South Totikum. Coefficient regression/elasticity of the land area (X1)= 0.851, number of seeds (X2)= 0.066, the amount of fertilizer (X3)= 0,0,059, the amount of labor (x4)= -0.242 and pesticides (X5)= 0,049 on the level of α 0.01. The average production of non-hybrid peanuts cultivation of 1923.07 kg of dry pods/ha. The average income of non-hybrid peanuts farming are USD 10,254,962.12/ha per growing season.

Abstract

In the current era, government has facilitated, trained and supported the implementation ofirrigation development and management providing maximum opportunities to any region, bybringing forward the initiative, capacity, and the regional authority concerned in accordance withthe economic and decentralization spirits. However, based on the present data, it is suggested thatirrigation improvement program has not been able to absolutely alleviate poverty because irrigationis only one of supporting capitals in farming system. The research was conducted in ParigiMoutong from March 2009 to December 2010. Data was collected through survey aimed at: (1)analyzing poverty incidence and gap; (2) identifying government policy on irrigation developmentand management. The research results showed that: (1) based on the poverty incidences and gapanalysis, Torue and South Parigi sub districts had populations of poor people of 55.89 and 49.36%,respectively, (2) the Central Sulawesi governmental policy on Water Resources and IrrigationSector Management Program (WISMP) has been running for 3 years, which is currently a priorityprogram in managing water/irrigation resources. Its implementation is needed in order tosuccesfully create self-supported farmers in participative irrigation management by activelyinvolving water user farmer groups (WUFG) directed to foster the sense of belonging. Thus, responsibility transfer in management can run smoothly and the realization of efficient, effectiveand sustainable irrigation based on self-supported farmer community belong to WUFG isachievable. The WISMP can reduce the poverty level 5% but it was not significant in alleviating povertyKata kunci : Irrigation, poverty, regional government policy.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research was to discover the income of farmers and to determine the development strategy of red chili farming system in Tibo village of Donggala district, Central Sulawesi.   Respondents of twenty three family heads who have been cultivating red chilli were selected from farmer population along with five stakeholders, three local extension workers, and the head of the village. Data collected was gathered through observation, interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).  The average income of the red chili farming system was found to be IDR 19,471,130/ha/planting season, while the R/C ratio was 3.90.  These results suggested that the red chilli farming is very profitable to be developed. The Strength Weakness Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis showed that the strategy of developing the red chilli farming in Tibo village was positioned in the quadrant II indicating Strength-Threats strategy to support diversification strategy.  These strategies include:  (1) to increase the availability of potential land and to make the most of the manpower availability for the development of this potential commodity (red chilli), and (2) to take advantage of the experience and high motivation of the farmers as well as to improve the farmer knowledge.  The Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis indicated that the second strategy is the most feasible program that could be implemented with the total value of attractiveness (TAS) was highest (6.624) Keywords: Development Strategy, Income Analysis, Red Chili.
