Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini bermaksud untukamenggambarkan unsuramoral yang1tercermin dalam1cerita3rakyat Malin Kundang, untuk menggambarkan nilai edukasi yang digambarkan dalam cerita Malin Kundang dan untuk menggambarkan pentingnya dongeng Malin Kundang untuk penelitian psikologi kemajuan anak. Penelitian1ini bersifat2subyektifddenganamelibatkan2strategiedeskriptif3sebagai1metode4berpikir3kritis4terhadap5suatu4ha l atau masalah yang sedang direnungkan. Sumber informasi dalam penelitian ini adalah cerita rakyat Malin Kundang yang digarap ulang oleh HHK Legenda dan diterbitkan oleh Happy Holy Kids(2013). Strategi pemerolehan informasi yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan. Strategi investigasi informasi dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari penurunan informasi, pengungkapan informasi dan penentuan pencapaian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan4bahwa:5(1)5dalam5cerita5rakyat Malin Kundang, dapat1ditemukan1unsur moral sebagai1atribut yang tidak diragukan lagi dari sastra1anak1melalui pameran tokoh2Malin Kundang yang3kemudian,3menjadi bahan edukatif untuk sebuah karya bagi pembaca3anak;5(2)5nilai pelajaran yang diberikan dalam5cerita5rakyat Malin Kundang seperti edukasi5moral, edukasi5sosial, edukasi3kemampuan dan edukasikmultikulturalkyang ditunjuk melalui perilakuktokoh utama dalamkcerita;k(3)kcerita Malin Kundang5merupakan cerita yang penting untuk dicermatitanak-anak, baikudariusegiubahasa,ugaya cerita, maupungcerita yanggdiperkenalkan. Secara khusus, ceritahrakyat Malin Kundang termasukhdalam bacaanhsastra anak yanghlebihhrelevanhuntuk diberikan kepadahanak-anak yanghmasih dalamhtahap Fungsional Besar dalam hal penelitian perkembangan psikologi perkembanganhanak.

Abstract

This study investigated thanking expressions used in a drama performance at the English Department of Pasir Pengaraian. Thanking expression has an essential role in giving a sense of communication. The research design was descriptive qualitative, especially in phenomenology. The data was collected from 29 sixth-semester students. The data were collected by using non-participant observation. This research data was analyzed by using Hymes' theory (1972) and Yule (1996). Based on the research, there were 60 thanking expressions used in this drama. The result of data showed some implied meanings of thanking expressions in this drama. There were 14 data (27%) as acknowledging a major favor, 8 data (15%) as acknowledging a favor, 4 data (7%) as assuring a person of one's gratitude, 3 data (6%) as dismissing a person's service, 15 data (29%) as closing the conversation, 6 data (10%) as accepting an offer, 1 data (2 %) as making the hearer feel good (phatic function), and 1 data (2 %) as ending the conversation. Thus, the implied meaning of thanking expression would be a particular function to fill gab language and culture in teaching and learning, especially in drama performance

Abstract

The lecturers still seem unconfidence to teach English as Foreign Language. They need the learning material to reveal the gap between English and the student’s own culture. This study aims to find out the validity and reliability of the intercultural learning material for Drama subject. The research design was quantitative research. The instrumentation of this research was the questionnaire. The subject of this research was 29 students. The results showed that the validity of the ILM model was 92,5 %. It means that the ILM model is valid to use for Drama subject. Then, reliability of intercultural learning materials was 0.774; the ILM model is reliable to use for Drama subject. Based on this result, the intercultural learning materials can implemented because they were categorized as valid and reliable. Thus, the learning materials will be an alternative to link between English and Malay cultures in the lesson process and drama performances.

Abstract

This article contains a study about the use of crossword media in improving the language skills of elementary school students as an effort to create a fun class. The problem was students’ lack of eagerness to emotionally involve in learning process. This condition caused an impact on students’ unsatisfaying learning outcomes that is 80. To overcome this problem, crossword puzzle media are used in learning by referring to the research models of Kemmis and Taggart. The data were collected by using observation sheets, interview guidelines, questionnaires, tests of student learning outcomes and field observations. At the end of the study, it was found that both the students’ learning outcomes and activities, and the teacher performance in planning and implementing teaching increased from cycle I to cycle II. As the result, the learning exceeded the target of the minimum standard of completeness. Thus, the utilization of crossword puzzles is considered to able to improve students' language skills, as well as create fun classes

Abstract

The main issue discussed in this article is the students’ low interest in reading textbooks. In addition, students do not use various techniques. As a result, they feel bored, and less concentrated when reading. The theory used in this research is the reading theory proposed by Tarigan (2008), reading comprehension techniques by Agustina (2008) and SQ3R reading techniques by Ermanto (2008) and Agustina (2008). This type of research is quantitative research using experimental method with SQ3R reading techniques. The population of this study were Indonesian Language and Literature Education students of FKIP Bung Hatta University who took the Reading Teaching Skills course. The sample was elected purposively. Based on data analysis, it was found that students did not apply the SQ3R reading technique well in determining the theme, plot, background, characterization, point of view and mandate, with an average value of 80.5. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of SQ3R reading techniques towards students’ reading comprehension at FKIP of Bung Hatta University Padang.

Abstract

It is impossible to study a language without also studying its culture. When learning a language, intercultural sensitivity is necessary. Because English is taught to primary school pupils at a relatively young age, it is expected that studying English will instill international awareness. Data were gathered at several Bangkinang City elementary schools through observation, interviews, and documentation of chosen samples using purposive sampling methods. The results show that: (1) intercultural sensitivity has been applied in the teaching of English to elementary school students; (2) cultural learning is still taught in an integrated and implicit way; and (3) the challenges are the shortage of teachers, the characteristics of young students, the lack of a curriculum that explicitly supports cultural learning, and the limited resources. For pupils to develop into proficient intercultural speakers and engage in intercultural communication at a young age, instructors, and institutions of higher learning must improve the integration of intercultural sensitivity into English language instruction at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Traditional clothes in Minangkabau are traditional clothes that are passed down from generation to generation. Traditional clothing that has been sacred by the community has become a symbol that is full of values. These values can later be used as a reference in the daily life of the Minangkabau people. The development of the times can change the form of traditional clothing. The people do not know that changing the shape will also change the meaning of the symbols in Minangkabau traditional clothing. So it is feared that one day the traditional clothes that have not undergone changes, such as the Panghulu and Bundo Kanduang traditional clothes, will no longer be understood by the next generation in Minangkabau for their meanings and symbols. Therefore, the author ventured to reveal how the form contained in the philosophy of the traditional clothes of Panghulu and Bundo Kanduang in Batipuah Baruah, Tanah Datar. This research is a qualitative using descriptive method. Data collection techniques by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation. Penghulu traditional clothing consists of headgear, clothes, pants, Sisampiang, belts, clothing; sarongs and samiri cloth, as well as kerises. Bundo kanduang traditional clothing consists of tingkuluak, kuroom clothes, codecs, sampang, jewelry, and footwear. The form of the Panghulu and Bundo Kanduang traditional clothes is a combination of geometric shapes and organic shapes. Geometric shapes are regular and precise. Organic forms in art are soft, curved, irregular, although there are natural forms such as angled crystal structures.Keywords: shapes, traditional clothes, panghulu, penghulu. AbstrakPakaian adat di Minangkabau merupakan pakaian tradisi yang diwariskan secara turun temurun dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya. Pakaian adat yang sudah disakralkan oleh masyarakat menjadi simbol yang sarat dengan nilai-nilai. Nilai-nilai inilah yang kelak dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Minangkabau. Perkembangan zaman bisa mengubah bentuk dari pakaian adat. Masyarakat tidak mengetahui bahwa jika bentuk berubah juga akan mengubah makna dari simbol yang ada dalam pakaian adat di Minangkabau. Maka dikhawatirkan pada suatu saat nanti pakaian adat yang belum mengalami perubahan seperti pakaian adat penghulu, tidak lagi dipahami makna dan simbolnya oleh generasi selanjutnya di Minangkabau. Oleh karena itu, penulis memberanikan diri untuk mengungkap bagaimana bentuk yang terkandung dalam filosofi pakaian adat panghulu di Batipuah Baruah, Tanah Datar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan melakukan obeservasi, wawancara, serta dokumentasi. Pakaian adat panghulu terdiri dari tutup kepala, baju, celana, sisampiang, ikat pinggang, kain sandang; kain sarung dan kain samiri, serta keris. Bentuk pakaian adat panghulu merupakan perpaduan antara bentuk geometris dan bentuk organis. Bentuk geometris adalah teratur dan tepat. Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan dalam dialog film Devil on Top karya Anggy Umbara dan mendeskripsikan strategi bertutur dalam tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan dalam dialog film Devil on Top karya Anggy Umbara. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Data penelitian ini adalah tuturan berupa kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung tindak tutur direktif dan strategi bertutur dalam tindak tutur direktif dalam dialog film Devil on Top. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah sumber lisan berupa dialog-dialog para tokoh yang terdapat dalam film Devil on Top. Teknik pengumpulan data ini adalah menggunakan teknik dasar simak libat bebas cakap, teknik rekam, dan teknik transkripsi data dengan cara memindahkan data lisan ke dalam bentuk data tulisan. Berdasarkan analisis data didapat dua temuan penelitian. Pertama, berdasarkan Jenis tindak tutur direktif, ditemukan lima tindak tutur, yaitu tindak tutur direktif menyuruh, menyarankan, memohon, menuntut, dan menantang. Kedua, berdasarkan strateginya, ditemukan tiga jenis strategi dalam tindak tutur direktif, yaitu bertutur terus terang tanpa basa-basi, strategi bertutur dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif dan Strategi bertutur dengan basa-basi kesantunan negatif. Tindak tutur direktif menyuruh merupakan tindak tutur yang dominan digunakan dalam film dan strategi bertutur yang dominan digunakan adalah strategi bertutur dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan bahasa (fonetik) antara bahasa Minangkabau di Nagari Kamang Mudik, Kabupaten Agam dan di Nagari Tabek Patah, Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa membandingkan tuturan masyarakat di dua desa yang berbeda yaitu di desa Kamang Mudik dan desa Tabek Patah. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah melalui metode menyimak, menyadap, mengamati dan wawancara. Selanjutnya data yang telah terkumpul diidentifikasi, diklasifikasikan, dan dianalisis berdasarkan teori yang telah ditentukan, kemudian disusun dalam sebuah laporan dalam bentuk skripsi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan adanya perbedaan bahasa Minangkabau di Nagari Kamang Mudik Kabupaten Agam dan di Nagari Tabek Patah Kabupaten Tanah Datar, sebagai berikut perbedaan yang ditemukan berdasarkan kosakata bahasa Swadesh adalah pertama, telepon perubahan sebanyak 29 data yaitu a≠o, seperti kata balah dengan kata bolah, t≠n, seperti kata ketek dengan kata kenek, y≠h, seperti kata liyia dengan kata lihia, r≠gh, suka kata sirah dengan kata sighah dan rg, seperti kata rameh dengan kata gameh. Kedua, pengurangan telepon sebanyak 14 data yaitu ui≠u, seperti kata paruik dengan kata poruk, dek , seperti kata dek karano dengan kata karano, ba≠ , seperti kata batang kayu dengan tang kayu , a≠θ, seperti kata aden dengan kata den dan ji≠ , seperti kata jikok dengan kata kok. Ketiga, penambahan telepon sebanyak 2 data yaitu a, seperti kata dima a dengan kata dima dan y, seperti kata sadono dengan kata sadonyo. Keempat, perbedaan kosakata (bunyi) sebanyak 18 data, seperti kata anjiang dan kata gacik. Perbedaan yang ditemukan berdasarkan kosakata budaya adalah pertama, bagian tubuh sebanyak 8 data. Kedua, kata ganti sapaan, 6 referensi data. Ketiga, sistem kekerabatan terdiri dari 6 data. Keempat, kehidupan desa dan masyarakat sebanyak 9 data. Kelima, rumah dan bagian-bagiannya 5 data, keenam peralatan dan perlengkapannya 8 data.

Abstract

This study describes the types of code-switching and code-mixing of RRI Pro 2 Padang and their causal factors. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive method. The population in this study were radio broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang. To obtain the data needed in this study, the authors used data collection techniques using the listening method, which has done by listening to the language used to observe code-mixing and code-switching by radio broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang. The steps taken in data collection are as follows: (1) downloading the results of broadcasts made by the broadcaster of RRI Pro 2 Padang on the official Youtube channel by RRI Pro 2 Padang, (2) listening to the results of the download of broadcast broadcasts and recording the language spoken, (3) clarifying the data that has been recorded in the code-switching and code-mixing group, (4) analyzing the factors causing code switching and code mixing by broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang. The results of this study are as follows: (1) the most dominant type of code-switching used by broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang is external code-switching compared to internal code-switching. (2) the factor causing the occurrence of code-switching events by radio broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang is the speaker factor or the speaker himself. Then, the factors causing the occurrence of code-switching events that are the least found are due to the speech opponent or listener factor. (3) the type of code-mixing that often appears is outer code-mixing. On the other hand, code-mixing that rarely occurs is inner code-mixing. (4) the factor causing the occurrence of code-mixing t that most often appears is the role identification factor. Meanwhile, the factor that caused the code-mixing that slightly appeared by radio broadcasters at RRI Pro 2 Padang was the speaker factor.
