Abstract

Ulos, as one of the traditional fabrics of Batak Toba, can be used as a learning resource, especially for geometry. Every motif and colour on ulos has particular meanings and messages related to beliefs, myths, history, and Batak cultural values. Need help from Desmos to visualise the geometric concepts found in ulos. This research aims to develop a learning media using the Desmos application integrated with Ethnomathematics-Ulos to enhance mathematical literacy. The research method used is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The research instrument uses a rating scale and an essay test. The results of developing material and language on geometry obtained a percentage of 93,69% with a very valid feasibility category. The results of product validation by practitioners as media experts got a very valid category with a rate of eligibility of 91,91%. Moreover, the teacher evaluation results got an efficient category with a percentage of 92,88%. The N-Gain value is 0,80 > 0,7, in the “High” category, meaning that the learning media effectively improve students' mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach can improve the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students at SMP Negeri 31 Medan. This study is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings. The subjects in this study were 28 students of class VIII-3 SMP Negeri 31 Medan. Based on the results of the study, an increase was obtained from cycle I to cycle II. Judging from the average value of the mathematical problem-solving ability test in cycle I, it was 53.22, while the average value of the mathematical problem-solving ability test in cycle II was 78.45. As well as the results of the initial test that had been carried out, 3 students (10.71%) were successful in completing the mathematical problem-solving ability test. In the test cycle I, 11 students (39.28%) succeeded and cycle II, 24 students (85.71%) succeeded in completing the mathematical problem solving ability test. Based on the results of observations that have been carried out, it was obtained that the management of learning carried out by teachers by implementing Problem Based Learning with the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) Approach experienced an increase in cycles with an average of 3.07 (good) to an average of 3.48 (good) in cycle II. In addition, student activities during learning increased where in cycle 1 with an average of 2.33 with a less good category to 3.05 with a good category in cycle II. This proves that the use of Problem Based Learning with the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) Approach can be applied to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Think Pair and Share (TPS) type cooperative learning model assisted by Wordwall media on critical thinking skills of grade IV elementary school students in IPAS learning at SD 030342 Silalahi in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study used an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample amounted to 30 fourth grade students. The instruments used were a description test to measure students' critical thinking skills before and after treatment, and a questionnaire to determine students' responses to the learning model used. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' critical thinking skills after applying the TPS learning model assisted by Wordwall. The average pretest score of 55.73 increased to 79.86 in the posttest. The N-Gain test showed an increase of 0.69 (moderately effective category). The correlation coefficient test results show the value of r_hitung = 0.610 is greater than r_table = 0.339, which means there is a strong relationship between the application of the TPS model assisted by Wordwall with students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the t-test results obtained t_hitung = 4.357 and t_table = 1.690, so t_hitung ≥ t_table (4.357 ≥ 1.690). Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that there is a positive and significant influence between the application of the Think Pair and Share (TPS) type cooperative learning model assisted by Wordwall on improving students' critical thinking skills in IPAS learning.

Abstract

This classroom action research is motivated by the low motivation of students to learn mathematics. This study aims to improve learning motivation by using the game based learning model. The subjects of the study were 34 students of class VII-1 of Budi Murni 1 Medan Catholic Private Middle School. The study was conducted in 3 cycles, each cycle consisting of the stages of problem formulation, planning, implementation, observation, data analysis, and reflection. Data collection techniques used in this study include tests and observations. The Game Based Learning model can improve the learning motivation of class VII-1 students of Budi Murni 1 Medan Catholic Private Middle School. This increase is indicated by the average learning motivation of the pre-cycle (55.98%), cycle I (67.78%), cycle II (75.48%) and cycle III (86.30%). Because it has achieved the criteria for motivation completion, namely the average student motivation reaches ≥ 75%, the study is said to be successful.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the LOK-R learning model assisted by E-comic on the numeracy skills of class X SMA students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a type of research in the form of one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was all class X SMA ST. Yoseph Medan consisting of 149 students divided into 4 classes. The research sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique, namely class X-1 with a total of 37 students. The data used in this study are quantitative data. Based on the analysis of research data using the Paired Sample T-Test, the results obtained t_count = 102.66> t_(table) = 2.028, then there is an effect of the LOK-R learning model assisted by E-Comic on students' numeracy skills. The results of the data analysis indicate that there is a significant increase in students' numeracy skills after the application of the learning model. This proves that the use of the LOK-R learning model assisted by E-Comic has a positive effect on students' numeracy skills by 67%.
