Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of rhythmic gymnastics on the gross motor skills of early childhood at Al Hidayah Tabing Kindergarten, Padang City. The study applied a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 20 children in group B aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through structured observation using an instrument in the form of a checklist containing seven indicators of gross motor skills. The test results showed that the instrument used had met the validity and reliability criteria. Treatment was given in the form of four implementations of Happy Movement Gymnastics. The analysis results showed that the average pre-test score of 13.25 (SD = 2.832) increased to 23.67 (SD = 2.535) in the post-test. The normality test using Shapiro-Wilk showed that the data were normally distributed, while the results of the paired sample t-test obtained a value of t = −17.857 with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). The findings show that H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that rhythmic gymnastics has a significant influence on improving the gross motor skills of early childhood at Al Hidayah Tabing Kindergarten, Padang City.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Tiny Task Box media on the fine motor skills of children at the Yayasan Amalan Kindergarten in Padang City. The study is motivated by the suboptimal development of children's fine motor skills. Based on preliminary observations, children struggled with holding pencils properly, organizing and pasting neatly, buttoning shirts during life skills activities, and tying shoelaces. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of 30 children from the Yayasan Amalan Kindergarten, with a sample size of 20 children divided into two groups: an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent sample t-test via SPSS 29, with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). The results indicated that the average score increase in the experimental class using the Tiny Task Box media was higher than that of the control class. The experimental class average score rose from 11.1 (pre-test) to 17.8 (post-test), while the control class rose from 11.8 (pre-test) to 16.0 (post-test). The hypothesis testing yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.043, which is less than 0.05 (0.043 < 0.05). Consequently, it can be concluded that the Tiny Task Box media has a significant effect on improving children's fine motor skills at the Yayasan Amalan Kindergarten in Padang City.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rhythmic gymnastics on the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years at Raudhatul Jannah Kindergarten, West Pasaman. This study is based on the results of observations that show that the gross motor development of children at Raudhatul Jannah Kindergarten, West Pasaman has not developed optimally. Most children still have difficulty in carrying out physical activities that involve body movement coordination. This type of research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method. The research population was all children at Raudhatul Jannah Kindergarten, West Pasaman. The sampling technique used a purposive sampling technique, namely group B2 was selected as the experimental class and group B3 was selected as the control class with each class consisting of 15 children. Research data were collected through testing, documentation, and observation techniques. Data analysis carried out normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests, then the data were processed with a difference test (t-test). Based on the results of the study, the average pre-test score of the experimental class was 26.8 while the average post-test score of the experimental class was 46.33. Meanwhile, the average pre-test score for the control class was 25.2, and the average post-test score for the control class was 41.47. A t-test was then conducted, with a value of 0.006 below the 0.05 criterion. Thus, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. The results of this study indicate that rhythmic gymnastics activities influence the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years at Raudhatul Jannah Kindergarten, West Pasaman.

Abstract

Storytelling ability is a crucial aspect of early childhood language development. However, storytelling skills among children at HangTuah Padang Kindergarten remain low. This study aimed to analyze the impact of using YouTube Kids on the storytelling abilities of young children at HangTuah Padang Kindergarten. A quantitative research method was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group format. The study sample consisted of 20 children from Group B, divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data collection was conducted through observation using a storytelling ability checklist that had undergone validity and reliability testing. The results showed a greater improvement in storytelling ability in the experimental class (mean increase from 7.8 to 17) compared to the control class (7.0 to 14.6), with a significance value of 0.037 < 0.05. Thus, the use of YouTube Kids has a significant influence on enhancing the storytelling abilities of young children.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of loose parts media on developing letter recognition skills among children aged 5–6 years at Yayasan Amalan Kindergarten, Padang. Letter recognition is a fundamental aspect of early childhood language development that supports later reading and writing skills. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Pre-test–Posttest Control Group Design. The participants consisted of an experimental group receiving instruction through loose parts media and a control group receiving conventional learning activities. Data were collected through observation using a letter recognition assessment instrument. Data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. The findings revealed that children in the experimental group showed greater improvement in letter recognition skills than those in the control group. The use of loose parts media encouraged children to actively explore, manipulate, and create learning experiences through play, making the learning process more engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful. Therefore, loose parts media had a positive and significant effect on improving letter recognition skills in children aged 5–6 years
