Abstract

Pineapple is a fruit that contains many nutrients so it is good for consumption. To consume pineapple, it takes a long time to peel the skin, thus encouraging innovation to sell fresh pineapple in the form of sliced pineapple. Pineapple that is peeled more quickly loses quality. This can be prevented with edible coating of aloe vera. This research was conducted to determine the effect of aloe vera edible coating with the addition of CMC and glycerol, on the moisture content, weight loss, and organoleptic (color, texture, aroma, taste) of sliced pineapple. This research was a true experimental type with pretest-posttest with control group design. Variations in concentration of CMC (1%, 1.5%) and glycerol (0.5%, 1%) and were replicated 4 times so that there were 24 samples. Observational data including moisture content, weight loss, and organoleptic (color, texture, aroma, taste) were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test. Until the 9th day of storage, the smallest decrease in water content was found in the G2C2 treatment, which was 84.04%. The smallest increase in weight loss was also found in the G2C2 treatment, which was 11.11%. The highest average organoleptic score on the parameters of color, aroma, texture, and taste was the G2C2 treatment. The provision of aloe vera edible coating on pineapple affects the water content, weight loss and organoleptic properties including color, aroma, texture and taste. The addition of CMC and glycerol concentrations affected the water content, weight loss, color, aroma, and texture but did not affect the taste of pineapple during storage. To improve the results of this study, it is necessary to carry out further research by examining the effect of giving aloe vera edible coating with the addition of CMC and glycerol on total dissolved solids and pH.Keywords: edible coating; Aloe vera; pineapple ABSTRAK Nanas merupakan buah yang mengandung banyak nutrisi sehingga baik dikonsumsi. Untuk mengonsumsi nanas, memerlukan waktu lama dalam pengupasan kulitnya, sehingga mendorong inovasi untuk menjual nanas segar dalam bentuk nanas potong. Nanas yang dikupas lebih cepat mengalami penurunan mutu. Hal tersebut dapat dicegah dengan edible coating dari lidah buaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian edible coating lidah buaya dengan penambahan CMC dan gliserol, terhadap kadar air, susut bobot, dan organoleptik (warna, tekstur, aroma, rasa) nanas potong. Penelitian ini berjenis eksperimen murni dengan pretest-posttest with control group design. Variasi konsentrasi CMC (1%, 1,5%) dan gliserol (0,5%, 1%) dan dilakukan replikasi sebanyak 4 kali sehingga berjumlah 24 sampel. Data hasil pengamatan meliputi kadar air, susut bobot, dan organoleptik (warna, tekstur, aroma, rasa) dianalisis menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA. Hingga penyimpanan hari ke 9, penurunan kadar air terkecil terdapat pada perlakuan G2C2 yaitu sebesar 84,04%. Peningkatan susut bobot terkecil juga terdapat pada perlakuan G2C2 yaitu sebesar 11,11%. Rerata skor organoleptik tertinggi pada parameter warna, aroma, tekstur, dan rasa adalah perlakuan G2C2. Pemberian edible coating lidah buaya pada buah nanas berpengaruh terhadap kadar air, susut bobot dan organoleptik meliputi warna, aroma, tekstur dan rasa. Penambahan konsentrasi CMC dan gliserol berpengaruh terhadap kadar air, susut bobot, warna, aroma, dan tekstur namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap rasa buah nanas selama penyimpanan. Untuk menyempurnakan hasil penelitian ini, perlu dilakukan penelitian lanjutan dengan mengkaji pengaruh pemberian edible coating lidah buaya dengan penambahan CMC serta gliserol terhadap total padatan terlarut dan pH.Kata kunci: edible coating; lidah buaya; nanas

Abstract

The content of Mn and Fe in water can reduce water quality and interfere with health. In general, water from dug wells contains quite large amounts of Mn and Fe and has an impact on health. Marble powder as an adsorbent can improve water quality through the filtration process. This study aims to reduce the Mn and Fe content of well water with marble powder as an adsorption medium. The design of this study was a pretest-posttest with control group, which was to compare the decrease in the levels of Mn and Fe before and after being filtered with marble powder as an adsorbent. The measurement results were analyzed using paired sample t-test. The average percentage reduction in the Mn and Fe content of well water before and after filtration was 83% (0.83mg/l) and 98.5% (4.054mg/l). The p value of the data analysis results was <0.05. It was concluded that marble powder can reduce the Mn and Fe content of well water and can be used by the community in the well water filtration process.Keywords: well water; Mn, Fe, filtration; marble powderABSTRAK Kandungan Mn dan Fe dalam air bisa menurunkan kualitas air dan mengganggu kesehatan. Pada umumnya, air yang berasal dari sumur gali mengandung Mn dan Fe cukup besar dan berdampak pada kesehatan. Serbuk marmer sebagai adsorben dapat meningkatkan kualitas air melalui proses filtrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan kandungan Mn dan Fe air sumur dengan serbuk marmer sebagai media adsorbsi. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest with control group, yaitu membandingkan penurunan kadar Mn dan Fe sebelum dan sesudah disaring dengan serbuk marmer sebagai adsorben. Hasil pengukuran dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test. Rerata persentase penurunan kandungan Mn dan Fe air sumur sebelum dan sesudah filtrasi adalah 83% (0,83mg/l) dan 98,5% (4.054mg/l). Nilai p hasil analisis data adalah <0,05. Disimpulkan bahwa serbuk marmer dapat menurunkan kandungan Mn dan Fe air sumur dan bisa dipakai masyarakat dalam proses filtrasi air sumur.Kata kunci: air sumur; Mn, Fe, filtrasi; serbuk marmer

Abstract

The house fly is a mechanical vector for spreading diseases. Controlling flies using chemical repellents continuously could results in resistance to flies. The other alternative is using clove leave filtrate as a natural repellent. The content of clove leaves that have function as a repellent are: eugenol, saponins, and flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of clove leaf filtrate as a natural repellent against house flies. The space spraying method was carried out with an air diffuser and exposed for 6 hours. This type of research uses a simple quasi-experiment with a post test only control group design. The study used clove leaf concentrations of 10%, 15%, 20%, aquadest, and was replicated 6 times. The number of house flies used are 600. The result showed that the average flies that refused bait on the control was 28%, the concentration of 10% was 61.3%, 15% was 84%, and 20% was 91.3%. The results of the One Way Anova test, stated the p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), which means that there is a difference in the average number of house flies that refuse bait.The conclusion of this study is that clove leaf filtrate is effective as a house fly repellent.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Heavy metals in certain levels can reduce the quality of air, water, and soil. Furthermore, causing health problems for plants, animals and humans, when there is accumulation as a result of industrial activity. Until now, the reduction of heavy metal content in liquid waste has been carried out physically, chemically and biologically. Therefore it is deemed necessary to reduce levels of heavy metals in liquid waste by electrocoagulation. The purpose of this study is to study the performance of electrocoaglation as a reducing agent in reducing Pb and Hg levels in water, so that it can provide references and input for the electroplating industry, batik industry, and others. Method and Materials: This research is a true experimental research with a post test only control group design, which is a research design consisting of a control group and an experimental group. The research sample will be examined in the laboratory. The sample used in this study is a preparation that has been made by dissolving Pb and Hg so that it is like waste from the batik industry or electroplating waste or battery factory waste. The variations in this study were the current / voltage (16, 20, and 24) volts and the detention time (30, 40, 50, and 60) minutes. The independent variable is electrocoagulation which is equipped with cathode and anode. This variable will affect changes in the dependent variable. The dependent variable in this study is the quality of the waste after electrocoagulation by observing the parameters of Pb and Hg. Statistical Analysis: Data analysis using the One-way Anova test or One-way Anova. Results: The results of this study indicate that electrocoagulation as a reducing agent at 16 Volts, 20 Volts, and 24 Volts with a contact time of 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes and 60 minutes has a significant effect on Pb and Hg reduction with α = 0.05. The most significant reduction in average Pb occurs in processing with a 20 volt electricity voltage and 60 minutes contact time. Meanwhile, the most significant decrease in Hg levels occurs in processing with a 24 volt electricity voltage and contact time for 30 minutes. Discussion and Conclusion: The reduction in Pb and Hg levels using the electrocoagulation method with aluminum electrodes comes from a redox reaction process where the anode (in acidic pH) will form the Al(s) → Al3+ (aq)¬ + 3e and the cathode will form 3H+ (aq) + 3e- → 1,5H2 (g)¬. After the anode and cathode react, there will be a floc formation which functions as a coagulant that will bind Pb. The conclusion of this study is that the most significant decrease in the average Pb level occurs in processing with a power supply of 20 volts and a contact time of 60 minutes. Meanwhile, the most significant decrease in Hg levels occurred in the treatment with 24 volt electricity and the contact time was 30 minutes. Abstract

Rivers are one of the environmental components that have important functions for human life, including to support environmental balance as a result of increased development activities in various fields. River pollution occurs because of domestic and non-domestic waste. River pollution that occurs in the ngingas river causes a pungent and colorful odor that affects the biota and quality of river water. The purpose of this study was to measure and map river water quality in terms of TSS and BOD parameters. The research is descriptive in nature with the independent variable being effluent along the river and the dependent variable being the levels of TSS and BOD in the ngingas river. The sampling technique used the grab sampling method and composite sampling was carried out by taking 4 points as far as 2 km from the Ngingas River flow. Data analysis was done by descriptive method of BOD and TSS levels as a result of the effluent at the 4 specified points. The results of the measurement of 4 sampling points at the Ngingas River showed BOD and TSS results of 151.5 mg/L and 103 mg/L in the first 1 km caused by domestic waste originating from settlements with the criteria of the waste being slightly foamy, and smelling good. While in the second 1 km the results of TSS and BOD are 814.2 mg/L and 73.8 mg/L, the measurement results can be caused by many factors, namely household activities or industrial activities, with the criteria that the waste is sometimes foamy. , slightly black, cloudy and smelly. Suggestions for other researchers are efforts to reduce TSS and BOD levels that meet the requirements and it is hoped that every industrial owner has a sewage treatment plant.

Abstract

Based on data from the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) the Tanggulangin Health Center in 2020, there were 123 diarrhea cases.The high cases of diarrhea are due to several poor sanitation conditions that have a negative impact on aspects of lie. Such as environmental pollution tat causes environmental-based diseases. This study aims to determine the description of basic house sanitation in 3 flood-prone areas, Kedung Banteng Village, Tanggulangin District, Sidoarjo.. The method used is descriptive method. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a sample 57 ouses based on house populations and 15 samples of clean water to be tested in the laboratory. The data collection technique is primary data collection through observation sheets and laboratory examination results regarding the bacteriological quality of clean water. The results showed that the sanitation condition in the 3 RT flood-prone areas, including clean water supply got a score of 89% in te good category. The latrine facilities, got a score of 100% in the good category. The trash can facilities, got a score of 64%, 66% and 45% in the sufficient category. SPAL , get a score of 40% in the sufficient category. The Drainage facilities, get a score of 50% in the sufficient category. Te results of bacteriological quality inspection on 100% clean water do not meet health requirement. The Conslusion of the study in the three areas of Kedung Banteng Village on basic house sanitation there are two facilities with good ratings and three other facilities getting adequate score. It is recommended for Health agencies to provide education about the importance of basic home sanitation facilities and the community maintain cleanliness to prevent environmental-based diseases.

Abstract

Soponyono market is al traditional malrkelt that plays an important role in providing safe food. Also, the market can become a place of disease transmission, so it is very important to monitor and control the cleanliness or health of the market environment. Thel purpose of this research was describe the hygiene status of the Soponyono market which includes market formation, market cleanliness and market PHBS, then analyzed using SWOT analysis (strelngths, welalknelssels, opportunitiels alnd threlalts). The results of the SWOT analysis will form the market hygiene position development strategy. This research was descriptive type of research that uses observation sheets to obtain results for the sanitary conditions of the Soponyono Market. Based on the study results, thel sanitary condition in Soponyono Market, category Rungkut District, Surabaya City was generally good and in the eligiblel as per the existing regulations such as market buildings (80.6%), market cleanlinelss in the eligible category (68.1%), and clean alnd healthy behavior (59%) category requirements. The results of the SWOT anallysis on the sanitary state of the Soponyono market are in Quadrant I (Aggressive). It is recommended that market managers monitor the sanitary condition of the market in accordance with Decree 519/MENKES/SK/VI/2008 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesial relating to the implementation of healthy markets. The strategy used is to take advantage of all the strengths of the clean market conditions and to talkel advantage of opportunities as much as possible.

Abstract

In March 2020 the government determined that the COVID-19 outbreak was a national disaster that spread through splashes, so gatherings of large numbers of people could increase the risk of spreading COVID-19. The church is a place for Christians to carry out religious activities. During this activity, there was interaction between congregations that could increase the potential for the spread of COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to describe and evaluate the application of health protocols in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in churches in the Gudo District, Jombang Regency in 2021. This study uses a descriptive observational method. The variables of this research are socialization and education of COVID-19 health protocols, use of masks, hand washing facilities or hand sanitizers, disinfection, social distancing systems, thermoguns, restrictions on the number of congregations and duration of worship, as well as air circulation and floor types. Data collection used observations and interviews to describe the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol in seven churches in Gudo District, Jombang Regency. Data analysis in this study is to collect data, process and compile, then presented in tabulation then each variable is analyzed descriptively. Observation results show that all churches get the Good category with a minimum score of 76.92%. The results of the interview show that the manager has facilitated the congregation in implementing the COVID-19 health protocol. The conclusion from this research is that the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol is not optimally implemented, namely socialization and education of the COVID-19 health protocol and measuring body temperature. Suggestions for other researchers who want to continue this research are researching the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol in places of worship using quantitative research methods.

Clean water is a basic need for living things, one source of clean water is groundwater. The problem that is often encountered in groundwater from dug wells is the content of heavy metal Fe. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the absorption of heavy metal iron (Fe) in well water with Pistia stratiotes L. and Echinodorus palaefolius for 14 days using a phytoremediation process. This type of research is an experimental design using a pretest-posttest model with a control group that compares the occurrence of differences in the decrease in iron (Fe) levels of 9.86 mg/l in well water by collecting data by examining the results of iron (Fe) levels in well water. before and after treatment. Analysis of the data using the Independent T-test. The results of the study showed a decrease in iron (Fe) levels in well water after the phytoremediation process for 14 days. In Pistia stratiotes L. the level of iron (Fe) in well water was 0.67 mg/l and Echinodorus palaefolius was 0.58 mg/l. The effectiveness of Pistia stratiotes L. was 92.85% and Echinodorus palaefolius was 93.81% in reducing iron (Fe) levels in well water. Phytoremediation using Pistia stratiotes L. and Echinodorus palaefolius is effective in reducing iron (Fe) levels according to Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. The phytoremediation process using Pistia stratiotes L. and Echinodorus palaefolius can be recommended to reduce iron (Fe) levels in well water so that it meets quality standards.
