Abstract

Communication skills are one of the goals to be obtained in 21st century education. This study uses content analysis on a collection of articles that have been researched in nursing education journals throughout Indonesia from 2006 to 2021, with emphasis on research on therapeutic communication skills. This research shows that in the last three years, the number of publications focusing on therapeutic communication skills has not progressed. In the collection of publications, the most types of research designed are quantitative, the research design is descriptive design to correlation research, the largest research subject is the patient and the main topic is the family with the most treatment, namely the relationship with the findings of this study, several recommendations are proposed for future research that support therapeutic communication as the main focus. Some of these recommendations include increasing the diversity of types of research and choosing more appropriate data analysis techniques.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal. Efforts to control hypertension can be done with pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is giving a mixture of watermelon and dates juice. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving a mixture of watermelon and dates juice on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in South Jakarta City. This research was a pre-experimental quantitative research with one group pretest-posttest research design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire, measuring blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer, observation and standard operating procedures for making watermelon and date juice. The results of the analysis using paired samples t-test showed a significant difference in the decrease in blood pressure of hypertensive patients before and after being given a mixture of watermelon and dates juice with p-value = 0.000. Furthermore, it was concluded that the mixed juice of watermelon and dates was effective in lowering the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. Keywords: hypertension; watermelon juice; dates ABSTRAK Hipertensi adalah suatu keadaan dimana seseorang mengalami peningkatan tekanan darah diatas normal. Abstract

Nursing supervision is important in improving the quality of service and hospital patient safety culture. This study analyzes the relationship between nursing supervision and implementing a safety culture at Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon Regional Hospital. Using a quantitative descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach, this study involved 70 nurses selected through a total sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between nursing supervision and patient safety culture (p = 0.002). Nurses who received good supervision tended to comply more with patient safety procedures. This finding confirms that adequate nursing supervision can improve patient safety culture and reduce the risk of medical incidents in hospitals. Therefore, improving a more structured, technology-based supervision system is recommended to ensure optimal service quality. Abstract

Abstract

Discharge planning ensures continuity of patient care after hospitalization, yet in Indonesia, it often faces documentation and procedural challenges. This study examined the relationship between head nurse supervision and nurse motivation with compliance in implementing discharge planning at RSUD Dr. M. Haulussy Ambon. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 257 nurses through validated questionnaires and observation sheets. Findings showed that 64.2% received good supervision, 56.4% had good motivation, and 58.4% demonstrated good compliance. Chi-square analysis revealed significant associations between head nurse supervision (p < .001) and motivation (p = .037) with compliance. Good supervision increased compliance 4.7 times (OR = 4.73; 95% CI: 2.67–8.40), and good motivation increased it 2.9 times (OR = 2.87; 95% CI: 1.16–4.85). These results highlight the importance of structured supervision and sustained motivation to improve discharge planning, enhance patient safety, and reduce readmissions.

Abstract

The phenomenon of street children reflects structural inequality, urban poverty, and weaknesses in the child protection system. In Ambon City, although official data indicate a decline in the number of street children between 2022 and 2025, recurring cases and contradictory practices on the ground suggest persistent implementation gaps in policy execution. This study analyses the strategies employed by the Ambon City Social Service in addressing street children within the framework of local regulations using a child rights approach and a social policy analysis perspective. A qualitative case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with Social Service officials and street children, field observations in major public spaces in Ambon City, and analysis of relevant policy documents. The findings show that current strategies combine short-term outreach operations, fulfilment of basic needs, and family reintegration with longer-term rehabilitation, alternative education, and skills training programmes. However, testimonies from street children reveal the persistence of coercive practices during field operations, indicating inconsistencies between policy commitments to child-friendly governance and implementation practices. This study contributes to the literature on social policy and child protection by critically examining the paradox between quantitative policy success and the qualitative experiences of children as policy subjects. The novelty of this research lies in highlighting the gap between statistical reduction of street children and the actual quality of rights-based protection in a medium-sized city context in Eastern Indonesia. Strengthening rights-based implementation, institutional capacity, and participatory approaches is therefore essential to ensure sustainable child protection.
