Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease that has recently become more common. We also often refer to diabetes mellitus as diabetes or blood sugar disease. This disease is a type of chronic disease whose initial sign is an increase in blood sugar levels as a result of a disturbance in the body's metabolic system. The body organ that is disturbed is the pancreas, which no longer functions as it should. The pancreas is no longer able to produce the hormone insulin to meet the body's needs. One of the factors that influence diabetes mellitus is a lack of knowledge. Public knowledge about diabetes mellitus is very much needed as a foundation for society in demonstrating diabetes mellitus prevention behavior. Knowledge is very important for the formation of behavior (Donsu, 2017). Knowledge is also related to the level of education. The higher a person's level of education, the more information they will have, which will influence a person's behavior (Notoatmodjo, 2002). One alternative for dealing with diabetes mellitus is to do diabetes mellitus exercises. Objective: At the end of the counseling process, all elderly and pre-elderly people in Sinar Pagi Village will be able to understand and understand Diabetes Mellitus and participate in doing diabetes mellitus exercises. Method: The method used in providing education about diabetes mellitus is lectures and questions and answers as well as distributing leaflets. Then the diabetes mellitus exercise method used is direct practice of diabetes mellitus exercises. Results and Discussion: In this outreach activity, the elderly experienced an increase in knowledge from the pre-test with an average of 65 and post-test with an average of 80, with a difference of 15. The final results of this diabetes mellitus exercise activity made the cadres agree to Do diabetes mellitus exercises for the elderly at least 1-2 times every month.

Abstract

Abstract

This study discusses line balancing in the production of irons at PT Philips Industries Batam, aiming to improve efficiency by addressing bottlenecks in the manufacturing process. The main focus is to optimize task distribution across workstations to minimize non-value-added time and enhance production line performance. Before the improvements, line efficiency was recorded at 94%, but there was still considerable idle time. Data collection was conducted through direct observation and time measurement of 18 operations using the Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) method. The analysis revealed that the implementation of Unique Device Identifier (UDI) labels led to increased operational times, particularly in operations 11, 15, and 18, causing workflow delays. After applying line balancing strategies, efficiency significantly improved from 67.97% to 96.23%. This study demonstrates that better task distribution can reduce production delays and support the achievement of operational targets. Key improvements include a reduction in balance delay and a smoother production flow, resulting in increased overall productivity. These findings highlight the importance of line balancing in optimizing manufacturing performance and provide valuable insights for industries seeking to enhance competitiveness through a more efficient production system.

Abstract

Oranges are a fruit that is in great demand by the public. Oranges have a sweet taste and distinctive aroma. Orange peel debris is one of the problems that is of concern to the government. This is because there are still many people who do not use it and just throw it away. This is because many people still don't know that orange peel waste contains the active substance d-lemonene. The d-lemonene compound is a compound that has a fragrant and refreshing aroma, so it can provide a calming feeling to those who inhale it. Therefore, this study aims to see the effect of the fragrant aroma of raw orange peel extract on changes in blood pressure. The extraction method used is steam distillation in order to maximize the yield obtained. After obtaining the raw extract, it was characterized using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to determine the skin content. The research results showed that the yield of orange peel extract calculated based on the volume of extraction results divided by the sample weight in grams was 20% (v/w). Based on the results of  Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)  characterization, it shows that the sample contains the compound d-lemonene. The effectiveness test showed a decrease in blood pressure in respondents who had high blood pressure and an increase in pressure in respondents who had low blood pressure. The reason is that the d-lemonene compound contained in orange peel can provide a calming sensation. This can happen because the d-lemonene compound is able to inhibit neuroinflammation and nitrite levels in the hippocampus and relieve anxiety through DAergic and GABAergic nerve activity mediated by A2A receptors. Keywords: Blood Pressure, Essencial Oil, Orange Peel

Abstract

The biodiversity owned by a country is a gift that must be appreciated. The potential of these natural resources can be used as research material to overcome existing problems. One of them is about how to answer the challenges of the effects caused by the use of chemicals that can harm the environment and surrounding living things. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the use of chemicals to be more optimal and of course safe both in use and effects. Modification of the particle size of a substance provides benefits because the size of a substance becomes smaller (nanoparticles) so that it will expand the surface of the contact substance. Several applications of the use of nanoparticles of a substance as a drug target carrier agent, sensor, increased bioavailability, and reduced effects of a substance have been carried out by several researchers. This study aims to evaluate the continuation of the potential of namnam leaves which have quite good bioactivity as antimicrobials. The method used is laboratory experimental. The research stages include the manufacture of namnam leaf extract, phytochemical test of the extract, and antimicrobial activity test. The extract was made by maceration using methanol for 3x24 hours and produced a yield of 11.2%. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the methanol extract of namnam leaves contains active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, steroids, and tannins. The content of these active substances has the potential as antimicrobials. The preliminary bioactivity test was carried out using the well method which produced inhibition zones of 15 mm, 18 mm, and 18 mm. The value of this inhibition zone is included in the sensitive category according to the CLSI data division.
