Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sifat antijamur asap cair kayu bintangur dalam menghambat pertumbuhan jamur S. commune secara in vitro.  Asap cair kayu bintangur yang digunakan sebanyak tiga jenis hasil dari pirolisis pada suhu 370, 400 dan 430oC. Medium PDA digunakan untuk efikasi asap cair kayu bintagur terhadap pertumbuhan jamur S. commune. Efikasi asap cair kayu bintangur terhadap jamur S. commune dengan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial, terdiri atas suhu pembuatan asap cair kayu bintangur (370, 400, dan 430oC) dan konsentrasi asap cair kayu bintangur (0, 0,5, 1,0, 1,5 dan 2,0%, v/v). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu pirolisis produksi asap cair dan konsentrasi asap cair berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap daya hambat pertumbuhan jamur, S. commune. Kemampuannya sebesar 100% pada konsentrasi 2% masing-masing pada suhu pirolisis asap cair 370, 400, dan 430°C.

Abstract

The community at Kuala Dua village, Kembayan sub district, Sanggau Regency has used non timber forest product for handicraft. The research purposes were to identified the raw material of non-timber forest product which used by the community to produce handicraft. The methods used in depth interview with the community. The respondent was chosen by snowball sampling. Total number of respondents was 14 persons.  Result of the research showed that 4 non timber forest product used for handicraft.  The plant used were bambu tali (Gigantochloa apus), nipah (Nypa fruticans), resam (Distranopteris linearis), and rotan lilin (Calamus javensis). The product was used for daily live and also sell to the market. Bambu tali was made into bakul and ketoro, nipah leaf was made into roof material, resam was made into ring and rotan lilin was made into basket, dish and  cupboard.Keywords: Calamus javensis, Distranopteris linearis, Gigantochloa apus, handicraft, Nypa fruticans

Abstract

The Budi watershed, which is located in Sungai Betung Subdistrict, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province, is a land and water conservation area which is a source of clean water for the community. The forest in the Budi watershed becomes a habitat for butterflies. The research aims to analyze the community structure and identify the types of butterflies in Budi watershed Sungai Betung Subdistrict, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The research methods used survey method with scan sampling technique in the morning and evening. Data from the inventory of butterfly species and the number of individuals of each species were analyzwd using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H”), the Margalef species richness index (DMg) and the Simpson dominance index (D). The results showed that the total number of butterfly species found in the Budi watershed was 22 species with 148 individuals belonging to three families, namely Nymphalidae (14 species), Papilionoidae (3 species), and Pieridae (5 species). The most dominance species found were Eurema blanda, Hypolimnas bolina, and Letopsia nina. The index of butterfly species richness in Budi watershed was DMg = 9.67 and is included in categorized high species richness. The butterfly dominance index D = 0.0066 and it categorized to low species dominance. Species diversity index H” = 2.093 and showed the diversity of butterfly species in the Budi watershed, Sungai Betung sub district, Bengkayang Regency is included in the medium diversity category.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to extract Avicennia marina Vierh leaf and used for anti-fungal against  Schizophyllum commune Fries, and to evaluate the best concentration of extract A. marina in inhibiting the growth of S.commune fungi. The leaf of A. marina was found in Bakau Kecil village in Mempawah Regency.  The leaf was made into particle with size 40-60 mesh then extracted with methanol in ratio 1:5 (w/v). The extract of A. marina leaf was made into concentration 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. The extract then poured into PDA and one cell of S. commune fungi was put in the center of PDA, The bioassay of evaluation the inhibition of fungal growth was conducted on seven days. After seven days the anti-fungal activity was measured. Result of the research showed that the growth of fungi on concentration 1% was 35.62 mm; on concentration 2% was 33.17 mm and on concentration 3% was 27.09 mm. Meanwhile on concentration 4% and 5% the fungi was not growth, either from the first day until the end of bioassay at the seven days. Vice versa on control (0% concentration) the fungal growth until the all of the petri dish with average 91.40 mm. Concentration of extract A. marina leaf 4% and concentration 5% was classified in very strong anti-fungal activities. E xtract methanol of A. marina leaf with concentration 4% can be used to inhibition the S. commune fungi with very strong anti-fungal activities.Keywords : Anti fungal, Avicennia marina Vierh, leaf, Schizophyllum commune Fries, wood preservation

Abstract

Tamao village, District EmbalohHulu, is one of thevillages in the district of Kapuas Hulu KPH model that has the potential of useful plants is very high. The study was conductedto determine the useful plant species utilized, the parts of the plant are used and useful plants for the benefit of society. Methods of data collection is done through interviews and question naires to determine the respondents using snowball sampling technique. Research carried out on surrounding communities KPH Model Kapuas Hulu district, in the village of Tamao, District Embaloh Hulu earn as much as 245 plant species from 85 families, and divided into eleven groups of uses, namely food plants (116 species), medicine (150 species), dyes (19 species), fodder(17 species), ornamental plants (94 species), craft materials (21 species), pesticide plant (12 species), aromatics (18 species), firewood (13 species), building materials (19 species) and for customs purposes (58 species). Family that is widely use disthe family Fabaceae. Plant species are widely used in eleven usability include Pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius) 6 usability and Beletik (Nephelium lappaceumL) 5 usability. Abstract

Energy is a major component in all human activities. The main source of energy for humans are natural resources derived from fossil carbon, these are petroleum, coal, and gas . The research aimed to determine the quality of charcoal briquettes based on ration percentage of charcoal oil palm trunks and charcoal Laban wood. This study used a completely randomized design. The percentage of oilpalm trunks charcoal (OTC) and Laban wood charcoal (LWC) as follow: 100% OTC; 20% OTC: 80% LWC; 40% OTC : 60%LWC; 60%OTC : 40% LWC ; 80% : 20% LWC; 100% LWC. Particle size of charcoal was 20 mesh adhesive tapioca flour. The charcoal briquettes size was 30-40 mm heigh with diameter 55 mm and made with hydraulic press with pressure 5 tons. Before testing the quality, charcoal briquettes was dried for 48 hours in oven with temperature 80oC. evaluation the quality of charcoal briquettes based on SNI 01-6235-2000. The average value of moisture content ash content, volatile matter content valve and carbon qualified the SNI 01-6235-2000 standard.  The best value was achieved on charcoal briquettes with ratio percentage 40% oil palm trunks charcoal and 60% Laban wood charcoal with average calorific value 6377,67 cal/g. the charcoal briquettes produced can be used as an alternative energy for the society. Abstract

The research aims to determine the physical properties (moisture content, density and dimensional stability) and mechanical properties (modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and modulus of crush stiffness) of Elaeis guineensis Jacq based on the position the trunk). The design used in the study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications and the factor is the position of the stem height (low, middle, and top) of oil palm (Elaeis guineesis Jacq). The results showed that height position have significant value to moisture content, MOR and MCS, but did not significantly affect the value of density, dimensional stability and MOE. The moisture content value was range from 38,49 % - 101,07 %, and the density value was range from 0,46 gr/cm3 – 0,62 gr/cm3, meanwhile the dimensional stability value was range from 11,54 % - 19,84 %. The modulus of elasticity value was range from 4456,77 gr/cm2 – 10062,40 gr/cm2, and modulus of rupture value was range from 108,20 gr/cm2 – 354,47 gr/cm2, meanwhile the modulus of crush stiffness value was range from 16,56 gr/cm2 – 69,96 gr/cm2. The research concluded that oil palm trunk in the low position have physical and mechanical properties better than in the middle and top, and enroll in class V of strongness and suitable for use as raw material for particle board or other composite products. Abstract

Oil palm trunk became a huge waste when the oil palm reached twenty fifth years old. This unproductive oil palm will replant with a new oil palm tree. Meanwhile the trunk was a big source of cellulose which can be used as particleboard. Research aimed to evaluate the durability of particleboard made from oil palm trunk against subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Wood Technology in Forestry Faculty Tanjungpura University, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The treatment of particle of oil palm trunk was dipping in hot water for two hours, dipping in cold water for seven hours and dipping in NaOH 5%for two hours.Each treatment was made in fifth replication. Durability test against subterranean termites was conducted with force feeding test. Sample was measured 2 cm x 2 cm x 1 cm and put in glass with fifty termites (45 workers and 5 soldiers) then keep in culture room for 21 days. The weight loss of particleboard sample and mortality of termites was count for measured the durability of particleboard. Result of research showed that the highest average value of weight loss of oil palm particleboard was on treatment particle dipping in cold water for seven hours, then particle dipping in hot water and NaOH5% (2.75%; 0.65% and 0.23% respectively). Mortality of termites reaches 100% on particleboard made from dipping in NaOH5%. It is concluded that the durability of oil palm particleboard made from dipping particle in NaOH was the highest than other treatment. Abstract

This research aimed to evaluation the anti-fungal activity of mangrove fruit waste extracts Rhizophora mucronata Lamk and the optimal concentration in inhibiting the growth of the Schizophyllum commune Fries. Mangrove fruit waste was derived from LSM Surya Perdana Mandiri, Setapuk Besar village, North Singkawang district, Singkawang city, West Borneo. Mangrove fruit waste made into particle with size pass of 20 mesh and retained 40 mesh. Then mangrove fruit waste was extract with maceration process with aquades as a solution. The extract then mixed with potatoes dextrose agar (PDA) with several concentration i.e. 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% and pour into petri dish. One isolate of S. commune was put in the center of PDA in each petri dish and then incubated for seven days. The results of research showed that the antifungal activity of mangrove fruit waste extract was included in the weak category for concentrations of 2%, 4% 6% with anti fungal activities values 13.40%, 17.05% and 20.23% respectively and moderate category for concentrations of 8% and 10% with anti fungal activities values were 34,91% and 42.40%. Based on the AFA value category and BNJ test results, mangrove fruit waste extract with a concentration of 10% is the extract concentration with the highest anti-fungal activity value of 42.40%. Keyword: Anti-fungal activity, mangrove fruit waste, Rhizophora mucronata Lamk, Schizophyllum commune FriesAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi aktivitas anti jamur ekstrak limbah buah bakau (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk) dan konsentrasi efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Schizophyllum commune Fries. Limbah buah bakau diperoleh dari LSM Surya Perdana Mandiri, kelurahan Setapuk Besar, kecamatan Singkawang Utara, kota Singkawang, Kalimantan Barat. Limbah buah bakau dibuat menjadi partikel dengan ukuran lolos 20 mesh dan tertahan 40 mesh. Kemudian limbah buah bakau di ekstrak menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut aquades. Ekstrak kemudian dicampurkan dengan Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) dengan beberapa konsentrasi yaitu 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% dan 10% dan dituangkan ke dalam cawan petri. Salah satu isolate S. commune ditempatkan ditengah PDA pada setiap cawan petri dan kemudian diinkubasi selama tujuh  hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas anti jamur ekstrak limbah  buah  bakau  termasuk dalam  kategori lemah untuk konsentrasi 2%, 4% dan 6% dengan nilai AFA berturut-turut adalah 13,40%, 17,05% dan 20,23%  serta kategori sedang untuk konsentrasi 8% dan 10% dengan nilai AFA berturut-turut adalah 34,91% dan 42,40%. Berdasarkan kategori nilai AFA dan hasil uji BNJ, ekstrak limbah buah bakau dengan konsentrasi 10% merupakan konsentrasi ekstrak dengan nilai aktivitas anti jamur tertinggi yaitu sebesar 42,40%. Kata kunci: Aktivitas anti jamur, Limbah buah bakau, Rhizophora mucronata Lamk, Schyzophyllum commune Fries

Abstract

Pulai (Alstonia scholaris)  was classification as IV-V for strenght class and V for durability class. This means that pulai has a low quality. One effort to improved the quality of pulai wood was densification process. This research aimed to evaluation the physical, mechanical and durability of pulai wood before and after densification process and to evaluated the temperature and pressing time on resulted the best quality of pulai wood. Densification was conducted on 160 °C and  180 °C with three pressing time 40 minute, 50 minute and 60 minute respectively. Densification targetted was 30%. Physical and mechanical process was conducted based on  British Standard Methods No. 373 (1957), meanwhile durability test against subterranean termites was conducted with modified wood block test methods. Result of the research showed that densified pulai wood  has the highest quality on physical, mechanical and durability properties than pulai wood control. The best densified treatment was on 180 °C with pressing time 60 minute.
