Abstract

Numerous challenges occur in education field require effective solutions to encounter. The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of guided inquiry model with starter experiment approach in teaching science process skill. This quasi-experimental research employed non-equivalent control group design. A total of 64 students of X MIPA1 and X MIPA5 was selected as the sample. In selecting the sample, the researchers applied cluster random sampling while the data was collected by using test. The data was analyzed using ANCOVA after underwent prerequisite normality and homogeneity tests (α = 0.05). The results showed that the mean of posttest was 79.33%. The improvement of science process skill was 44.88%, compared to the pretest results. The results of ANCOVA revealed that the significance value was of 0.025. This means that the guided inquiry model with starter experiment approach in teaching science process skill of the students is effective.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) perbedaan motivasi dan prestasi belajar siswa setelah menggunakan sumber belajar yang berupa limbah tapioka pada materi Archaebacteria dan Eubacteria; dan (2) pengaruh sumber belajar yang berupa limbah tapioka terhadap motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa kelas X MAN 2 Pati. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain randomized control group, pretest-post test. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa MAN 2 Pati kelas X, sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah kelas X-2 sebagai kelompok kontrol dan kelas X-3 sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik tes dan nontes. Analisis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan motivasi belajar siswa ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji paired sample t test nilai sig.(2-tailed)α. Tidak ada perbedaan hasil belajar ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji paired sample t-test nilai sig.(2-tailed)α. Motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan sumber belajar limbah tapioka lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang menggunakan sumber belajar konvensional. Kata Kunci: limbah tapioka, sumber belajar, motivasi, prestasi belajar THE INFLUENCE OF USING TAPIOKA WASTE AS A SOURCE OF LEARNING BIOLOGY ON STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION AND ACHIEVEMENT Abstract: This aim of this research is to know (1) the differences of students’ motivation and achievement after using tapioca waste as learning resource in tenth grade, MAN 2 Pati in Archaebacteria and Eubacteria materials: (2) the effects of using tapioka waste as learning resources on students’ motivation and achievement in tenth grade, MAN 2 Pati. This research is quasi-experimental design with randomized control group, pre-post test. The study population was all students of Class X MAN 2 Pati, while the research sample is Class X-2 as the control group and Class X-3 as the experimental group. Data collection techniques were test and non-test techniques. The analyses used the t-test to determine differences in motivation and achievement. The results show that there is difference in learning motivation after using tapioca waste as a source of learning, indicated by the result of paired samples t-test, value of sig.(2-tailed)α. There is no difference in learning achievement after using tapioca waste as a source of learning, which is indicated by paired sample t-test, the value of sig.(2-tailed)α. Learning motivation and achievement of students who use tapioca waste as learning resources is higher than that of students who use the conventional learning resources. Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the effect of the point-pin reward method in Biology cross-specialization learning activities towards students’ interest and acquisition in the 11th-grade social science class in State Senior High School 1 Sentolo. The research was a quasi-experimental study using a pre-test and post test non-equivalent control group design. The number of participants consisted of 41 students divided into 2 classes, the control class and the experimental class. Data for students’ interest in learning were collected using interest questionnaires analyzed using a Likert scale. Data for students’ acquisition were obtained by analyzing written tests. Research data were analyzed using independent-samples t test. The results of this study indicate that: The point-pin reward method has significant effects on the students’ interest and acquisition in the learning activities of biology cross-specialization lessons.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mencari informasi tentang hubungan kekerabatan antar klon talas. Penelitian ini didasarkan karakterisasi, yang sangat penting dalam pengelompokan dan hubungan kekerabatan talas. Pengelompokan distribusi variasi karakter morfologi dilakukan menggunakan Analisis Komponen Utama. Hasil karakterisasi dari 107 klon menunjukkan bahwa talas dapat dikelompokkan menggunakan berbagai kriteria yaitu tinggi tanaman, bobot segar umbi, kepulenan, dan rasa umbi. Pengelompokan yang didasarkan atas metode Analisis Komponen Utama menunjukkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata antar klon talas. Pengelompokan yang didasarkan atas karakter morfologi dan karakter umbi menunjukkan kelompok-kelompok kecil pada berbagai tingkatan jarak euklidian.Kata kunci: talas, karakterisasi, pengelompokan, hubungan kekerabatan

Abstract

The study was to develop a Biology learning evaluation model in senior high schools that referred to the research and development model by Borg Gall and the logic model. The evaluation model included the components of input, activities, output and outcomes. The developing procedures involved a preliminary study in the form of observation and theoretical review regarding the Biology learning evaluation in senior high schools. The product development was carried out by designing an evaluation model, designing an instrument, performing instrument experiment and performing implementation. The instrument experiment involved teachers and Students from Grade XII in senior high schools located in the City of Yogyakarta. For the data gathering technique and instrument, the researchers implemented observation sheet, questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was applied in order to attain information regarding teacher performance, learning performance, classroom atmosphere and scientific attitude; on the other hand, test was applied in order to attain information regarding Biology concept mastery. Then, for the analysis of instrument construct, the researchers performed confirmatory factor analysis by means of Lisrel 0.80 software and the results of this analysis showed that the evaluation instrument valid and reliable. The construct validity was between 0.43-0.79 while the reliability of measurement model was between 0.88-0.94. Last but not the least, the model feasibility test showed that the theoretical model had been supported by the empirical data.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan vegetative tanaman kacang tanah (Arachis hypogaea) terhadap pemberian hancuran daun berbagai jenis Acasia.Populasi penelitian ini adalah tanaman kacang tanah dan sampel yang digunakan tanaman kacang tanah varietas gajah sebanyak 25 batang. Bahan perlakuannya berupa hancuran seresah daun tiga jenis Acasia yang diberikan sejak biji mulai dikecambahkan. Perlakuan terdiri dari lima taraf, yakni tanpa hancuran seresah daun Acasia, 25 gr/pot, 50 g/pot, 75 g/pot dan 100g/pot, masing-masing dengan empat ulangan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi kecepatan proses perkecambahan, tinggi, berat basah, dan berat kering, pada akhir fase pertumbuhan vegetative.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa baik hancuran seresah daun Acasia mangium, Acasia auriculiformis,maupun Acasia oraria pada kadar hancuran 75% gr/pot dan 100g/pot sama-sama menghambat kecepatan proses perkecambahan. Terhadap berat kering, hancuran seresah daun Acasia mangium dengan kadar 25 gr/pot sampai 100gr/pot tidak menghambat, bahkan menunjukan gejala penyuburan, sementara hancuran seresah daun Acasia auriculifomis dan Acasia oraria 75gr/pot dan 10o g/pot menunjukan adanya penghambatan.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to investigate the effect of sunlight radiation distribution in canopy on soybean plants biomass at different planting distances. This research was done experimentally using the Block Design. The independent variables were the soybean varieties and planting distance. The varieties used were Baluran, Bromo, and Galunggung and the planting distance used was 15x15 cm2 and 25x25 cm2 as blocks with 10 replications. The dependent variables were sunlight intensity and the plants biomass. The result of the research indicated that after 40 planting days, the sunlight intensity in the canopy, at soybean varieties factors was significant (p<0.05), and the planting distance was significant too. The plant biomass indicated that varieties factors had a significant effect (p<0.05), but the planting distance factors were not significant (p>0.05).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul biologi berbasis aktivitas siswa di pondok pesantren yang efektif untuk meningkatkan sikap spiritual dan kemandirian siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan produk yang mengadaptasi model Borg dan Gall. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan yaitu tahap pencarian dan pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan, pengembangan draf produk, uji coba lapangan awal, merevisi hasil uji coba awal, uji coba lapangan produk utama, dan revisi hasil uji coba produk utama. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X Madrasah Aliyah Ibnul Qoyyim Sleman. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa hasil penilaian modul, sikap spiritual, dan kemandirian siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah: lembar validasi modul dan observasi kemandirian, angket keterbacaan modul, respon siswa, penilaian diri sikap spiritual, dan kemandirian. Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) produk modul yang memenuhi kriteria sebagai bahan ajar dengan kategori nilai sangat baik (A), (2) modul efektif untuk  meningkatkan sikap spiritual siswa dengan kategori tinggi (gain score 0,81) dan meningkatkan kemandirian siswa dengan kategori sedang ( gain score 0,52).Developing a biology module in ecosystem subject based on student’s activity at Islamic boarding school to inculcate the spiritual attitude and self-reliance of students AbstractThis research aims to develop a qualified biology module based on student’s activity in Islamic boarding school to improve students’ spiritual attitude achievement and students’ self-reliance. This research was research and development adapting Borg and Gall model. The stages of the research were research and collecting information, planning, developing a preliminary draft product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, and operational product revision. The research subject were students of class X Madrasah Aliyah Ibnul Qoyyim Sleman. The data were collected in the form of module assessment results, students’ self-reliance and students’ spiritual attitudes achievement. The research instruments were a sheet of module validation and self-reliance, a questionnaire of module readability, students’ responses, self-reliance, and self-assessment to spiritual attitude. The results of this research are: (1)  a biology module based on Islamic boarding school which is qualified and feasible to apply as teaching material with a very good category (A), (2) module is effective to improve the spiritual attitude in high category (gain score 0,81)and of the students students’ self-reliance in middle category (gain score 0,52)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) validitas model pembelajaran hypnoteaching beserta perangkat pembelajarannya; (2) pengaruh model pembelajaran hypnoteaching terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa; dan (3) pengaruh model pembelajaran hypnoteaching terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas XI SMA/MA. Prosedur pengembangan dalam penelitian ini diadaptasi dari Model Borg Gall yang meliputi studi pendahuluan dan pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan dan perancangan, penyusunan draf model pembelajaran dan validasi, uji coba terbatas dan revisi, uji coba diperluas dan penyempurnaan produk, serta diseminasi dan implementasi produk. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dengan menggunakan uji multivariat (MANOVA). Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Model pembelajaran hypnoteaching beserta perangkatnya, secara empiris valid dan reliabel dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”. (2) Model pembelajaran hypnoteaching mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa kelas XI SMAN 2 Banguntapan dan MAN Yogyakarta III, hal ini dibuktikan dengan uji MANOVA dengan nilai signifikansi (Sig.) = 0,000 pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. (3) Model pembelajaran hypnoteaching mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI SMAN 2 Banguntapan dan MAN Yogyakarta III, yang dibuktikan dengan uji MANOVA dengan nilai signifikansi (Sig.) = 0,000 pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. Kata Kunci: model pembelajaran, hypnoteaching, motivasi belajar, hasil belajar kognitif   DEVELOPING OF HYPNOTEACHING LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE THE MOTIVATION AND STUDENT'S LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF BIOLOGY OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Abstract This research aims to find out: (1) the validity of hypnoteaching learning model including the learning tools; (2) the effect of hypnoteaching learning model for the increasing of student’s learning motivation; and (3) the effect of hypnoteaching learning model for the increasing of student’s learning achievement of biology in 11th grade of senior high school. The procedure development in this reseach was based on the procedural model sequence that was adapted from Borg Gall Model which included preliminary study and collecting of information, planning and designing, drafting of the learning model and validation, limited experiment and revision, extended experiment and product refining, dissemination, and then product implementation. The techniques of data analysis used are descriptive statistics and inferential statistics that used multivariate analysis (MANOVA). The results of this research are: (1) The hypnoteaching learning model with the tools are empiricly valid and reliabel with has  “the best” category. (2) Hypnoteaching learning model have a significant effect for increasing the student’s learning motivation of 11th grade of 2nd Banguntapan Senior High School and Islamic 3nd Senior High School of Yogyakarta, this is evidenced by MANOVA tes that shows the significant level (Sig.) = 0,000 with the confidence level is 95%. (3) Hypnoteaching learning model have a significant effect for the increasing of student’s learning achievement in 11th grade of 2nd Banguntapan Senior High School and Islamic 3nd Senior High School of Yogyakarta, this is evidenced by MANOVA test that shows the significant level (Sig.) = 0,000 with the confidence level is 95%. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran biologi dengan model PjBL yang layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi; (2) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran biologi dengan model PjBL yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kreativitas siswa kelas X SMAN 8 Yogyakarta; dan (3) membandingkan pembelajaran yang menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran model PjBL dengan pembelajaran yang menggunakan perangkat konvensio-nal dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kreativitas siswa. Metode penelitian diadaptasi dari Borg Gall yang terdiri dari sembilan tahapan. Hasil penelitian pengembangan adalah: (1) perangkat pembelajaran biologi dengan model PjBL yang layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi; (2) perangkat pembelajaran biologi dengan model PjBL yang efektif untuk untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kreativitas siswa pada aspek berpikir kreatif siswa kelas X SMAN 8 Yogyakarta; dan (3) tidak ada perbedaan antara pembelajaran yang menggunakan perangkat dengan model PjBL dengan pembelajaran perangkat konvensional dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kreativitas siswa.Kata Kunci: perangkat pembelajaran, model project based learning, keterampilan proses sains, kreativitas Developing a Learning Kit with Project Based Learning Model (PjBL) to Improve Scientific Process Skills and Creativity AbstractThe aims of this research are to: (1) produce an appropriate biology learning kit with PjBL model for learning activities; (2) produce an effective biology learning kit with PjBL model that can be used to improve scientific process skills and creativity; and (3) investigate the difference between the biology learning kit with PjBL model and conventional learning kit in improving scientific process skills and creativity. This research method was adapted from Borg Gall which consisted of nine steps. The results of this research are: (1) an appropriate biology learning kit with PjBL model which consists of syllabus, lesson plans, student’s worksheet, and authentic assessment based on validation result of expert judgments and biology teachers, and also field test result; (2) an effective biology learning kit with PjBL model that can be used to improve scientific process skills and creativity especially on creative thinking aspect; and (3) there is no difference between PjBL model and conventional learning kit in improving students’ scientific process skills and creativity.Keywords: learning kit, project based learning model, scientific process skills,creativity
