Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of SETS-based teaching as an effort to improve creativity in solving the environmental pollution problem  and the effectiveness of teaching based on SETS compare to Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The design of this study was Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The population was students of SMA N 1 Prambanan, Klaten with the student of class X as a sample. To determine the effect of each study, the data was analyzed using the paired t-test. While to determine the effectiveness of teaching in each class, the data was analyzed using the independent t-test. The result of the study shows that SETS-based teaching and PBL can enhance the creativity of solving problems of environmental pollution and the SETS-based teaching indicated more effective to improve the creativity of the student if compared with the PBL. Key words: SETS, PBL, creativity, environmental

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Outdoor Learning Process on concept understanding and scientific attitude regarding the Spermatophyta sub-material in Grade X students. Learning using the Outdoor Learning Process method was conducted in the greenhouse and school garden. This research is a quasi-experiment using a non-equivalent control group pretest & posttest design. The population in this study included all Grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Jetis. The research sample was determined using cluster random sampling techniques, with class X1 as the experimental class and class X2 as the control class, totaling 64 students. Data collection was carried out through testing techniques, observation, interviews, and documentation. Research instruments used pretest and posttest questions. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Inferential analysis used: MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) to determine the effect of the Outdoor Learning Process on students' concept understanding, and Gain Score calculation to determine the improvement in students' concept understanding. The results showed that: the application of the Outdoor Learning Process affects the concept understanding of Spermatophyta sub-material in Grade X students, evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a medium improvement category from the N-Gain Score calculation of 0.7513. The Outdoor Learning method is able to accommodate students in obtaining direct learning experiences14. Direct learning experiences make students more enthusiastic about learning, more concentrated on the material, and develop their thinking power, thereby making it easier for students to understand the material better.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the development of PBL-based electronic LKPD on environmental change material at Gumuk Pasir Geoheritage and the feasibility of PBL-based electronic LKPD on class X environmental change material at Gumuk Pasir Geoheritage. This research is development research (R&D) using a 4D development model consisting of stages definition, design, development and deployment. This research was only carried out until the development stage. This research was validated internally by media expert lecturers and material experts and externally validated by biology teachers and class X high school students. The results of the research show that based on the assessment of media expert lecturers, a score of 82.13 was obtained in the "very good" category, material experts received a score of 67.4 in the "good" category, biology teachers obtained a score of 92.84 in the "very good" category, and the assessment of class X high school students obtained a score of 94.44. “very good” category. Based on the results of the development and feasibility that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the PBL-based electronic LKPD is suitable for use in the learning process regarding environmental change material at the Gumuk Pasir Geoheritage.
