Abstract

Sebelum kemunculan Covid-19, proses belajar mengajar dilaksanakan dengan cara tatap muka. Akan tetapi, hadirnya Covid-19 membuat proses belajar mengajar dilaksanakan dengan cara daring (online), maupun luring (offline). Dalam proses pembelajaran online, para guru harus mengikuti perkembangan dalam adaptasi penggunaan teknolgi yang baru. Walaupun sudah ada yang menerapkan tatapmuka dan pembelajran jarak jauh. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah dampak Covid-19 ini membuat pembelajaran daring (online) mengakibatkan beberapa siswa masih ada yang belum dapat membaca. Selain kemampuan literasi, pengetahuan numerasi juga masih rendah. Hal ini disebabkan guru belum dapat mengoptimalkan media pembelajaran bekaitan literasi dan numerasi. Oleh karena itu, tim PKM mengadakan pelatihan peningkatan literasi dan numerasi melalui adaptasi teknologi di SD Negeri Srijaya 04 Bekasi. Dengan hadirnya pelatihan ini, para guru diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa melalui adaptasi teknologi. Selain itu, para guru juga diharapkan dapat menguasai adaptasi teknologi di bidang literasi dan numerasi. Pelaksanaan PKM dilakukan dengan bentuk sosialisasi, pengenalan, pelatihan, dan praktik penerapan literasi dan numerasi melaui adaptasi teknologi kepada guru-guru SD Negeri Srijaya 04 Bekasi. Berdasarkan dari hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat, para guru sangat menyambut positif dan bersemangat ketika berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan PKM dan para guru sangat senang dengan hasil yang sudah dilaksanakan karena mereka langsung mempraktikkan teori yang telah diberikan. Melalui kegiatan ini, PKM ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi melalui adaptasi teknologi. Kata Kunci: Literasi, Numerasi, Teknologi

Abstract

Language gets the effect of the development in recent era. Some languages receive the development from the other languages such as foreign languages. The loanwords are the words which are adapted from other languages. Many Indonesian words are gained from English. This study was aimed at analyzing and describing the types of English loanwords used in Kompas digital newspaper in the categories of simple word, complex word, and translated word. The researchers used a qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is the loanword derived from English in the cyber crime column of the Kompas digital newspaper in April and May 2022. The result of the study was that there were 56 English loanwords which were written in Kompas digital newspaper taken from selected columns in April and May 2022. The English loanwords categories analyzed were the simple word, complex word, and translated word. There were 26 English loanwords found as simple word. Then, there were 18 English loanwords found as complex word. Finally, there were 12 English loanwords found as translated word. The simple word of English loanword is the most frequently used in Kompas digital newspaper. Meanwhile, the translated word of English loanword is the least frequent one.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the students’ writing skills before and after using the Self-assessment technique in narrative text and to figure out the positive and significant effect of using the Self-assessment technique in students’ writing achievement narrative text. This research used Quasi-experimental research as a method, to get the data the researcher used a t-test as a research design. To collect the data from the two groups using the test through writing test in the form of simply writing to be used for pre-test and post-test. The researchers used two kinds of classrooms, experimental class, and controlled class. The researchers took 40 students as the sample. the researcher used statistical analysis for analyzing the data. Statistical analysis that the researcher used to study the T-test is SPSS (Statistic Product And Statistic Solution) which examines the significant difference in students’ writing skills between the experimental and control group. The research finding shows that the effect of using the self-assessment technique on students’ writing skills is effective. Based on the t-test result shows that the mean score of the experimental is higher than the control class which obtained 64.50 and the control class obtained a 54.50 score. Furthermore, the result of the data normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test which are claimed that the self-assessment technique has a significant effect on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. Self-assessment was helpful in classroom activity as an experimental class did it. It is also indicated by the higher total scores of students’ writing after the practice of Self-assessment.

Abstract

Penyelenggara pendidikan harus mampu melakukan penyesuaian terhadap peralihan metode pembelajaran yang harus dilakukan. Dalam proses pembelajaran daring, guru harus mengikuti perkembangan dalam beradaptasi dengan penggunaan teknologi baru. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan kegiatan pelatihan yang bertujuan untuk membekali dan meningkatkan keterampilan para guru SDN Muktiwari 01 Bekasi untuk memberikan pembelajaran yang menarik dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis digital, Hasil observasi di lapangan masih banyak guru di merasa kesulitan dalam proses pembelajaran berbasis digital, seperti belum mengetahui aplikasi atau platform apa yang dapat digunakan untuk KBM secara digital. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, maka tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihan guru-guru SDN Muktiwari 01 Bekasi dalam memanfaatkan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis digital untuk meningkatkan literasi numerasi siswa. Metode penyelenggaraan pelatihan ini dengan pelatihan dan pendampingan. Para guru sangat antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan. karena mereka mendapatkan pengetahuan baru terkait media pembelajaran berbasis digital.

Abstract

In social situations, people must be able to recognize the faces of others to respond to emotions and maintain relationships. People are supposed to utilize politeness strategies to save their faces. The purpose of this research is to explain the different functions and kinds of politeness strategies utilized by Kit Connor in the television show The Heart Stopper. This study falls under discourse analysis and employs Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness strategies. In the form of utterances and words, this data is the script for the television series The Heart Stopper. According to our findings, Kit Connor's politeness strategy is used in 37 utterances. She used the baldness strategy 18.9% or 7 times of the time, positive politeness 54% or 20 times of the time, negative politeness 24.4% or 9 times of the time, and informally used 24.4% or 1 time of the time.2.7% used. Kit Connor's favourite politeness strategy is the "offer and promise" part of the positive politeness strategy. The strategy is employed 18.9%, or 7 times of the time. Generally, he employs politeness strategies in his daily life to maintain and build positive relationships with others

Abstract

Students should be able to master four skills in English. They may find it challenging to learn certain skills, particularly speaking. They are hesitant to improve their speaking skills since they do not receive assistance from the environment. The surroundings are not in English. The study aimed at finding out students’ perception of use of YouTube the Channel “lingua marina” in enhancing students’ performance of speaking. The subjects of this research were 10 psychology students of Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya in the fourth semester. The researchers applied the descriptive qualitative method to this study. The data were gathered through questionnaires and interviews. The data were interpreted in the words to show the results of questionnaire and interview. Based on the result of the study, most students agreed that YouTube videos help them increase new vocabulary, when they learn using YouTube videos they can improve their pronunciation, they can speak English fluently using YouTube videos, they shared “neutral” for a better understanding of the material when they watch YouTube videos, they also shared “neutral” that YouTube videos cannot make them bored when learning English, they enjoy practicing speaking English using YouTube videos, they agree that YouTube videos can be a motivational tool in learning to speak English, YouTube videos can help them use good pronunciation, they shared “neutral” that they can organize the ideas using YouTube videos, and they can better understand in guessing unfamiliar words using YouTube videos. Ten students were interviewed about the use of YouTube Videos to improve their speaking skill, and most of them could learn English easily using YouTube videos. They could increase their motivation. They could imitate foreigners speaking English repeatedly and fluently. Finally, they felt easy to memorize new vocabulary vocabularies. To sum up, students can be helped in enhancing their speaking skill by utilizing YouTube videos.

Abstract

Pengetahuan tentang Cyber Security sangat penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Masyarakat dituntut untuk dapat beradaptasi dengan teknologi karena manusia dan teknololgi saling berkaitan satu sama lain. Di bidang pendidikan, para guru dapat memanfaatkan beberapa aplikasi dalam mendukung proses belajar mengajar. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra adalah beberapa guru masih belum menyadari dan memahami tentang Cyber Security dan bahaya dari Cyber Crime. Para guru belum menyadari bahwa terdapat banyak hal yang perlu diwaspadai ketika menggunakan internet dan alat elektronik khususnya handphone, laptop, dan tablet. Guru juga belum mampu memkasimalkan pemanfaatan teknologi di pengajaran walaupun sudah tersedia beberapa tablet di sekolah. Oleh karena itu, tim PKM mengadakan sosialisasi cyber security  dan perkembangan teknologi masa kini pada usia dini di SD Negeri Srijaya 04 Bekasi. Dengan hadirnya sosialisasi ini, para guru diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang cyber security dan perkembangan teknologi. Selain itu, para guru juga diharapkan dapat menguasai cara pembuatan media pembelajaran berbentuk video. Pelaksanaan PKM dilakukan dengan bentuk sosialisasi dan penyuluhan cyber security dan perkembangan teknologi masa kini serta pemanfaatannya untuk anak usia dini kepada guru-guru SD Negeri Srijaya 04 Bekasi. Berdasarkan dari hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat, para guru sangat menyambut positif dan bersemangat ketika berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan PKM dan para guru sangat senang dengan hasil yang sudah dilaksanakan karena mereka langsung mempraktikkan teori yang telah diberikan. Abstract

ABSTRAK Bahasa merupakan wahana komunikasi bagi manusia, baik komunikasi lisan maupun komunikasi tulis. Setiap komunikasi, khususnya komunikasi tertulis, dibutuhkan kalimat-kalimat yang baik. Kalimat yang baik erat kaitannya dengan penggunaan kalimat efektif. Berdasarkan fenomena yang terjadi akhir- akhir ini ditemukan bahwa produktivitas guru masih rendah dalam menyampaikan ujaran menggunakan kalimat efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan agar para guru di RA Bani Barun Majalengka dapat memahami dan menerapkan kalimat efektif pada Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan pelatihan ini terdiri dari empat tahap diantaranya kegiatan sosialisasi, pengenalan kalimat efektif, pelatihan kalimat efektif, dan praktik penerapan kalimat efektif. Hasil kegiatan ini yaitu kompetensi guru mengenai penerapan kalimat efektif meningkat. Hal ini tergambar dari partisipasi aktif para guru dalam menyimak materi, diskusi, dan mengerjakan tugas yang diberikan oleh narasumber. Selain itu, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini juga tergolong berhasil karena sesuai dengan tahapan-tahapan pelaksanaan yang telah ditentukan. Adapun tindak lanjut dari kegiatan ini adalah pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat kembali dengan pola paragraf dan pengembangan paragraf pada bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris. ABSTRACT Language is a means of communication for humans, both oral communication and written communication. Every communication, especially written communication, requires good sentences. Good sentences are closely related to the use of effective sentences. Based on the phenomenon that has occurred recently, it was found that teacher productivity is still low in conveying utterances using effective sentences. This community service program aims to enable teachers of RA Bani Barun Majalengka to understand and apply effective sentences in both Indonesian and English. The method of implementing this training consists of four stages including socialization activities, introduction to effective sentences, training of effective sentences, and practice of applying effective sentences. The result of this activity shows that the teacher's competence regarding the application of effective sentences increases evidenced from the teachers’ active participation in listening to the material, discussion, and working on the assignments given by the presenters. In addition, this community service program is classified as successful since it meets the target proposed by the team. The follow-up theme for the next community service program will be paragraph patterns and paragraph development in Indonesian and English.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to analyze the idiomatic translation found in “The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn” By Stephanie Meyer. The result of the research is the idiomatic translations method which is found in the novel and analyzed by using the theory of translation from Newmark. Based on the data analysis, the writer found some proofs that the data which were translated used idiomatic translation method. In analyzing translation process, the writer compared with other translation methods. The purpose was that the writer showed the translation method used by the translator was idiomatic translation method. In translation, the translator paid attention to the meaning of source language so that the message in target language can be received by the readers.

Abstract

The present study aims to examine the effect of adopting anecdotes on senior high school students’ reading skill. Nested in mix-research methods, data were garnered through test and interview. The data obtained from the test were analyzed statistically. The study findings reveal that the average score for the application of anecdote was 7.3 which belonged to category “sufficient”. Meanwhile, the average score of students’ reading skills is 6.8. It was classified into the category “sufficient” Pearson's Product Moment Correlation formula yielded 0.42 for the calculation of the correlation between the X and Y variables. The variable X was the adoption of anecdotes, and the variable Y was students’ reading skills. The statistical calculation demonstrates that the product moment correlation score of 0.42 can be interpreted as “moderate correlation”. It indicates that there was significant effect of using anecdotes on the senior high school students’ reading skills. This study concludes with empirical evidence on how EFL senior high school teachers adopt anecdotes for their reading classrooms.
