Abstract

According to the BAZNAS Strategic Studies Center, the potential for zakat in Indonesia in 2020 reaches Rp. 327.6 trillion, but the amount of zakat collected in the same year was only around Rp. 12.429 trillion. In this study, Maros Regency was chosen as the research focus because BAZNAS Maros Regency received a total income of Rp. 6,184,383,403 in 2022, with the largest contribution coming from zakat fitrah of Rp. 1,646,818,000, followed by zakat maal (from entities/organizations) of 315,092,717, which came from professional zakat paid by ASN Maros Regency. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors that influence the decisions of ASNs in Maros Regency in issuing professional zakat through BAZNAS in Maros Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with binary logistic analysis method. The population consists of ASNs in Maros Regency groups 3 and 4 who are Muslim with a sample of 100 respondents. The results showed that the variable knowledge of zakat and service quality had a significant influence on the decisions of ASNs in Maros Regency in issuing professional zakat through BAZNAS in Maros Regency. Meanwhile, the variables of income and trust have no significant effect on the decisions of ASNs in Maros Regency in issuing professional zakat through BAZNAS in Maros Regency. This research is expected to be the basis for BAZNAS in Maros Regency in optimizing the potential for professional zakat among ASNs in Maros.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of socioeconomic and ecological factors on the Willingness to Pay (WTP) for environmental conservation within the Glintung Go Green initiative. The research analyzes key variables, including income , education , employment status , age ), gender , length of residency , flood frequency , and flood impact , to understand their influence on WTP. Using Smart-PLS, the results show that income, education, and employment status positively affect social and ecological factors, which in turn significantly influence WTP (coefficient = 0.533). However, age and length of residency display a negative relationship, suggesting that younger and more recent residents may be more willing to contribute to conservation efforts. This study highlights the importance of socioeconomic improvements to enhance community readiness for supporting environmental initiatives. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers aiming to promote sustainable practices in urban communities, particularly by leveraging socioeconomic and ecological factors that motivate financial contributions to conservation projects like Glintung Go Green. Keywords: "Glintung Go Green"; "Willingness to Pay"; "Socioeconomic factors"; "Ecological factors"; "Environmental conservation".

Abstract

Sustainable financing remains a significant challenge for higher education institutions in Indonesia as they strive to enhance educational quality and compete with leading global universities. One promising solution is the utilization of waqf-based endowment funds as a source of long-term financing. This paper aims to explore the financing and management models of waqf endowment funds to support the improvement of university education quality. The study examines the role of waqf endowment funds in creating a stable financial system and identifies the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing this model in Indonesia. To achieve these objectives, the research employs NVivo 12 qualitative data analysis software to systematically analyze relevant literature and data, allowing for the coding and categorization of themes related to waqf financing. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers and universities regarding the governance of waqf endowment funds and how this model can be applied to advance infrastructure, research, and teaching in higher education institutions. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of collaboration between the government, universities, and society to optimize waqf endowment funds as a sustainable economic resource that positively impacts the quality of national education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Rumah Gemilang Indonesia (RGI) empowerment program in improving the material and spiritual welfare of mustahik, aligning with Islamic principles of holistic well-being. Design/methodology/approach A mixed methods approach was employed, integrating qualitative in-depth interviews with program managers and participants and a quantitative survey of 200 respondents. The CIBEST model was used to measure welfare dimensions, while data reliability was ensured through Pearson-Correlation and Cronbach's Alpha tests. Findings The study reveals a significant improvement in participants' welfare, with average incomes rising from IDR 615,821 to IDR 2,829,000, exceeding the poverty line. Spiritual well-being also improved, indicated by consistent worship practices and stronger religious values. CIBEST analysis showed an increase in mustahik in the prosperous quadrant and a reduction in absolute poverty. Key program strengths included holistic training, family support, and post-program assistance. Research limitations/implications The findings are limited to the specific context of the RGI program and may not fully generalize to other empowerment models. The study underscores the importance of integrating material and spiritual dimensions in zakat-based empowerment initiatives. Originality/value This research fills a gap in evaluating zakat-based empowerment programs through a holistic lens, combining material, spiritual, and social impacts. It contributes to the literature on Islamic economics by demonstrating the practical application of the CIBEST model in poverty alleviation and welfare enhancement.

Abstract

Based on data obtained by the Communication and Informatics Office of Malang Regency in 2019 there were 319,061 MSMEs spread across Malang Regency and the largest MSMEs were engaged in agriculture, namely 76.76% or 244,934 business units. The large number of UMKM in agriculture in Malang Regency and the large number of agricultural productions, especially in cassava agricultural products, have made Malang Regency one of the largest producers of cassava in East Java, but the utilization and consumption of cassava production is still very low resulting in an excess supply. Of the total 249,445 tonnes produced by cassava farmers, the level of public consumption is only 24,337 tonnes. Therefore, in this study, the researcher intends to conduct an analysis of the characteristics and determinants of income from MSMEs processed by cassava in Malang Regency. Based on the theory of production and theory of human capital, there are several variables that influence the level of total revenue (Y), namely capital (X1), number of workers (X2), and use of information technology (X3). In the presence of several independent variables, the researcher uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques using classical assumption testing and hypothesis testing to find answers to existing problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Economic Growth, Population, Open Unemployment Rate, and the Covid-19 Pandemic on Poverty in East Java Regency/Province in 2019-2023. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression analysis method. The data obtained in this study are secondary data processed and sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) website. The type of data in this study is panel data. This study implies that policymakers in East Java must focus on efforts to maintain and increase economic growth and manage population dynamics effectively in order to reduce poverty levels. In addition, efforts to reduce open unemployment through job creation and workforce development are essential. Furthermore, strategies to mitigate the adverse socio-economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as social protection programs and economic recovery initiatives, are critical to prevent further increases in poverty. These recommendations aim to support comprehensive poverty reduction in the region during and after the pandemic.

Abstract

Environmental issues alongside the looming climate crisis have developed into serious problems. ;Sustainable development lenses are becoming increasingly important in natural resource and environmental management decisions. Among other things, it relates to measuring the capacity of a resource and the changes in the environmental quality. Agriculture is one of the most vulnerable sectors. Broadly speaking, all types of agriculture are sensitive to changes in natural conditions. On the other hand, there is an increasing demand that accompanies population growth. Therefore the agricultural sector requires attention related to the application of a sustainable approach. Through this research, the costs incurred in the production through the form of; resource depletion and; environmental degradation have been calculated. As well as mapping the correlation that exists between the two. The research took a case study of the food crop sector in Malang District over the period of 2018-2023. The research then shows the findings that the conventional food crop sector in Malang District has caused an impact on depletion and degradation. Meanwhile a positive correlation was found between the two. However, it is considered at a very weak level of closeness. The results of this study provide information and reference on the state of depletion and degradation in the food crop sector.

Abstract

Social inequality remains a persistent challenge in many Muslim-majority countries, despite the existence of Islamic economic principles that emphasize justice, inclusivity, and welfare distribution. This study aims to evaluate the application of Islamic economic values in real policy implementations and their impact on marginalized communities. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by the PRISMA protocol, a total of 425 initial records from reputable databases were screened, resulting in 20 eligible articles for in-depth analysis. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic social finance instruments—such as zakat, waqf, and qard al-hasan—alongside innovative financing models and targeted mentoring programs, significantly improves both material and spiritual welfare indicators among low-income groups. Evidence from multiple empirical studies suggests that religious framing, cost reduction, and strong community engagement enhance participation and program effectiveness. However, challenges such as governance quality, limited social participation outcomes, and weak integration with broader economic policies still limit long-term impact. The review concludes that revitalizing the Islamic economic system requires a holistic and context-sensitive approach, aligning financial instruments with capacity building, digital innovation, and policy integration to effectively reduce inequality and foster sustainable welfare.
