Abstract

Zakat has known as one of the vital instrument in economic that holds some benefits for increasing aggregate demand, expanding job opportunities, reducing poverty and triggering economic growth. As one of the large cities in East Java Province, Malang has a potential issue through commerce zakat which most of the people’s livelihood engaged to and composition of regional income (PDRB) is dominated by a commerce sector. On the other hand, it is not supported by the real condition in the field that shows the opposite compared to the low percentage of commerce Zakat payer. Based on the reason, the author is triggered to investigate and to elaborate the complexity of Moslem’s decision in performing commerce zakat payment. This research relies on Multistage Sampling Method involved 100 participants by taking location at Malang. Furthermore, the accumulated data field is analyzed through Logit Method to identify the influential factor of the decision in Zakat payment. Processed data binary logit regression determines the most influential factor of Moslem’s decision in performing commerce zakat payment in Malang which relies on the level of income and their knowledge about Zakat’s scheme. According to this result, businessmen or traders who have high income level and moderate comprehension of laws, percentage, extrapolation, nisab, and paying period of commerce zakat have bridged up into a higher probability to perform commerce zakat. Whereas level of age, formal education, non-formal education, motivation, availability of Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ) and business period do not affect the decisions. Keywords: decision to perform Zakat, Commerce Zakat, Logit Analysis, Malang City

Abstract

Abstract: Development is a multidimensional process that involves changes in social structure, which are based on the main orientation: the occurrence of economic acceleration, the reduction of inequality, and yet, the problem of poverty and unemployment remains an unresolved problem of absolute poverty reduction. Development also aims to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth. On the other hand the problem of poverty and unemployment remains as an unresolved issue. So it is necessary for the role of government, both local and central government, where the government is a driver and a planner of development. The goal is to eliminate three issues: unemployment, distribution inequality, and poverty, so that development outcomes can be enjoyed by the community fairly and evenly / inclusively. This study aims to find out which government spending can accelerate inclusive growth. This research used panel data method with simultaneous equation 3 stage least square. The results showed that capital expenditure had a negative effect on economic growth, while employee salary and population growth rate did not affect the economic growth. Capital expenditures, staff salaries, economic growth, and human development index affect the open unemployment rate. The open unemployment rate affects poverty, while economic growth has no effect on poverty.Key Words: Inclusive growth, local government spending, unemployment, and poverty.

Scientific studies have not agreed about the effect of gender inequality on country’s economy. This quantitative research aims to identify the severity of gender inequality in East Asian and Pacific countries and to analyze the effect of gender inequality on the economic growth of those countries. A set of secondary panel data with the time span of fifteen years, i.e. from 2006 to 2020, from fifteen countries in the said region was acquired from World Economic Forum and World Bank and was analyzed using regression method. The results indicate that the inequality was very sever and that females are the less fortunate side. Furthermore, the gender inequality significantly influences the countries’ economic growth. Reduction of the inequality in economy, education, and politics enhances economic growth, while the reduction in health, in fact, decreases economic growth.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a majority Muslim population and still experiencing poverty. One of the efforts to eradicate poverty in Islam is through zakat, especially professional zakat, which has considerable potential because it can be paid monthly or annually. The millennial generation is also said to be able to help optimize the zakat collection in Indonesia. Tangerang City is one of the regions in Indonesia called the City of Akhlakul Karimah. Hence zakat is the right step to eradicate poverty, especially from professional zakat, because Tangerang City is dominated by the millennial generation and has a fairly high Regional Minimum Wage (UMR) level. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of zakat knowledge, social environment, and income on the decision to pay professional zakat for the millennial generation of Tangerang City. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach through logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the social environment variable significantly affected the decisions of the millennial generation in Tangerang City in paying professional zakat. In contrast, there is no significant effect of the variable knowledge of zakat and income on the decisions of the millennial generation in Tangerang City in paying professional zakat.
