Abstract

River Basin Areas (DAS) are part of regional development in Indonesia, which are interconnected with ecological concepts and involve reciprocal relationships among actors within an ecosystem. The increasing natural disasters experienced, such as floods, landslides, and droughts as a result of watershed damage, have become a serious concern. Therefore, there is a need for integrated watershed management that must involve stakeholders in natural resource management, which consists of various elements such as the community and the government, with principles of integration, equality, and a commitment to implementing sustainable natural resource management. The purpose of this research is to identify the roles and what the community has experienced in the Liawan sub-watershed, as well as to understand the performance perceived by the community in the management of the sub-watershed. This research is a qualitative study using stakeholder analysis. The results of this study indicate that several stakeholders involved in the management of the Liawan Watershed include the Provincial Forestry Office of West Sulawesi, the Tourism Office, the Karama Watershed Management Agency, the Central Mamasa Forest Management Unit, the Head of Tadisi Village, the Community of https://www.adenomyosisadviceassociation.org/hysterectomy Tadisi Village, Academics, and the Community of Tadisi Village. The assessment of watershed management performance perceived by the community based on interview results indicates that the community experiences economic benefits through social forestry programs, assistance with agricultural tools and seeds, as well as training in sustainable farming techniques. The good performance of Sub-Watershed management is perceived to provide economic benefits, improve environmental quality, and strengthen community participation in decision-making related to natural resource management in their area.

Abstract

Household waste is still a serious problem for environmental quality. Household waste that is not managed properly and correctly causes pollution to the surrounding environment such as unpleasant odors and clogging irrigation in residential areas. The aim of carrying out this service is to increase public knowledge and awareness of processing household waste or organic waste using an environmentally friendly method, namely stacked buckets in urban areas. The partners of this service are the community in the Lipu Environment, North Labuang Subdistrict, West Sulawesi Province. The method used in this service activity is descriptive analysis with a qualitative research type with a case study design. Questionnaires are used to measure community knowledge and awareness before activities are carried out and after activities are carried out. The results of the service show that many people in the Lipu neighborhood are still not aware of the importance of processing household organic waste. This can be seen from direct interactions with the community and the results of the pre-test questionnaire. Furthermore, after carrying out activities to introduce household organic waste processing using the stacked bucket method, the results showed an increase in community knowledge, behavior and awareness in managing household waste. These results provide the community with the ability to manage waste using the 3R process (Reuse, Recycle and Reduce) with the results of the processing being able to be used for cultivating organic vegetable crops in urban areas and can be a solution to environmental pollution problems in the Lipu area of Majene Regency. The implementation of this training succeeded in increasing public awareness of processing their own organic waste using the stacked bucket method. This activity also succeeded in increasing knowledge, behavior and availability of community facilities to support household organic waste processing.

Abstract

Terebralia palustris is a snail that lives in the mangrove ecosystem. This needs to be done considering that the condition factor (Ponderal Index) and size structure can be a reference for snail management later. Research on the condition factor (Ponderal Index) has never been studied. This research was conducted from August 2018 to July 2019 on Pannikiang Island. Sampling in December 2018 and January 2019 was not performed for weather reasons. The research stations were A and B. Sampling used one large plot measuring 100 m2, and inside, it contained four small plots measuring 0.25 m2 (0.5 m x 0.5 m), which were placed randomly. Data analysis used regression. The condition factor was calculated based on the growth pattern of the total length and weight of the snail's body. The measurement results obtained ten size groups in males and 11 in females. The length (SL) and weight (W) in female snails were more significant than in males. The test results showed that each month of observation showed negative allometry. The snail condition factor fluctuated.
