Abstract

The demand of KKNI curriculum in the 21st century is about the equality of learning achievement covering attitudes and values, work ability, scientific mastery, authority and responsibility. For that, PGSD graduates of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST) Yogyakarta are expected to be able to design the learning activities, which is in line with the development of science, and technology, which is on the same time, are able to bring Indonesian cultural value into it. The graduates’ competence are presented in their abilities to develop elementary school learning activities based on the Science Environment Technology and Society (SETS) and integrate local wisdom into it. The purpose of this research is to describe the skills of critical thinking of PGSD students in developing SETS-based learning integrated with local wisdom and also along with the indicators that appear in each skill aspect. This is a type of quantitative descriptive research with non-test data collection techniques, observation, and documentation. While the main instruments are in the form of Student Worksheet (LKM), the observation sheet towards the indicators of critical thinking skills. Data analysis techniques is done by using descriptive statistics interpretation through several answering criteria: very good, good, fair, poor, and very poor which is then the results are presented in the form of tables. The results showed that the average critical thinking ability of PGSD UST students was 69.24% with can be categorized in good criteria. Indicator of every critical thinking skills aspect has appeared, even though some targets of achievements have not been optimally gained yet.

Abstract

The process of students’ character instillation was carried out in Masehi Temanggung elementary school to establish ethics, character and moral attitudes that can be used by the students as the role models in their environment. The characters that are intended to be established in Masehi Temanggung elementary school is the students’ character that is naturally established, in a sense that the change of the students’ behavior is due to their self-motivation based on what they do everyday; and not just merely due to the school obligation. The researchers employed qualitative approach method by observing thoroughly the students’ behavior occurred in the school setting. It is expected that the results from the direct observations will be able to portray the reality hidden in that situation. The evaluation method is used to analyze the information that is relevant to the students’ behavior at school and the next stage is classifying those data into two categories: first category is the students’ behavior that needs to be supervised and the second category is the students’ behavior that deserve the reward. In conclusion, making it as their habits can do the process of students’ character instillation. The students’ habits of good deeds are also carried out through games, for example by playing traditional games and toys (dolanan). There is a moral value implied in the traditional games and toys that is good to support the students’ character instillation.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of science Subject Spesific Pedagogy based lab work on: (1) the curiosity of the students, (2) the precise of the students, (3) the curiosity and precise of the students. This research is a quantitative using a quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. Population of this research was all students of class IX SMP Integral Hidayatullah Tolitoli. The sample of this research was selected through cluster random sampling, namely class IX A as an experiment class and class IX B as a control class. This research used a enclosed questionaire instrument that was adapted from Hermanto research. The data analysis used the ANOVA and MANOVA. The results show that: (1) the implementation of science subject specific pedagogy based lab work gives a significantly more positive effect to the curiosity of the students than convensional learning, (2) the implementation of science subject specific pedagogy based lab work gives a significantly more positive effect to the precise of the students than conventional learning, and (3) the implementation of science subject specific pedagogy based lab work gives a significantly more positive effect to the curiosity and precise of the students than convensional learning does.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sekolah Adiwiyata mengintegrasikan muatan lingkungan hidup dalam pembelajarannya. Namun media pembelajaran belum dikembangkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa, potensi daerah, dan potensi sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kebutuhan siswa sekolah dasar Adiwiyata dalam perancangan komik strip tematik sahabat alam Pancoh. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, diskusi kelompok terarah, wawancara guru kelas dan siswa serta kajian literatur. Hasil menunjukkan siswa sekolah dasar adiwiyata lebih menyukai ilustrasi gambar komik yang menarik dengan tokoh sebaya seperti usia mereka dan berkaitan dengan lingkungan sesuai agenda program adiwiyata. Pengintegrasian beberapa mata pelajaran dalam komik dan pemanfaatan potensi lokal ekowisata Pancoh akan membantu siswa berbuat nyata untuk menjaga kelestarian lingkungan. Dengan demikian disimpulkan rancangan komik yang dibuat untuk tema lingkungan sahabat kita dengan jenis komik strip dan berorientasi pada ekowisata Pancoh dan tripusat pendidikan. Kata Kunci: kebutuhan, komik strip, tematik, ekowisata. ABSTRACT Adiwiyata School integrates environmental content in its learning. But learning media has not been developed according to the needs of students, regional potential, and school potential. This study aims to analyze the needs of Adiwiyata elementary school students in the design of thematic strip comics friends of the natural Pancoh. Data were obtained through observation, focus group discussions, classroom teacher interviews and students and literature review. The results show adiwiyata elementary school students prefer illustrations of comic drawings that are interesting with peers such as their age and related to the environment according to the adiwiyata program agenda. The integration of several subjects in comics and the utilization of the local potential of Pancoh ecotourism will help students do the real to preserve the environment. Thus, it was concluded that the comic design was made for the environmental theme of our friends with the comic strip type and was oriented to Pancoh ecotourism and education center. Keywords: needs, strip comics, thematic, ecotourism.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of mind maps in Integrated Natural Science education learning in improving the Elementary School Teacher Education students' creativity, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, UST Yogyakarta. The type of this research is a classroom action research with a model design from Kemmis and Mc Taggart. The subjects in this research were 3G class students of Integrated Natural Science of Elementary Schools course with 44 students, while the object of this research was the mind map method and students' creativity. This research was conducted in two cycles with each cycle consisting of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Data collection techniques are using observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis with the percentage criteria of creativity improvements. The results showed that the mind map method could improve the Elementary School Teacher Education students' creativity, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, UST Yogyakarta. The creativity improvement can be seen from the average percentage in cycle 1 of 68.53% and in cycle 2 of 87.64%. This shows that the mind maps method can improve Elementary School Teacher Education students' creativity, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, UST Yogyakarta.                                                                                   Keywords: Mind Map; Science; Creativity; Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the feasibility of GIGANA comics to foster literacy in students in disaster preparedness schools. This research is RD type. This research phase includes identification problems, planning, development, validation, and product revision. This research produces learning media products in the form of comics GIGANA (Digital Disaster Mitigation). The results of the assessments from media experts and material experts show that indicators of presentation, operation, content, writing, and benefits are appropriate for use in thematic learning for elementary school students.

Abstract

Reading comprehension skills are very important for students. Based on the results of observations and interviews, it shows that students find it difficult to understand a reading. The purpose of this study was to test the improvement of reading comprehension skills using the PQ4R method in class VB students at SD Negeri 1 Gemawang. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycles. This increase can be seen from the average value of understanding in the first cycle of 64.8 in the good category and increased in the second cycle to 74.03 in the good category. The above results are reinforced by the results of observations of student learning activities. The average percentage value in the first cycle was 65.76% in the good category and increased in the second cycle to 72.49% in the good category. The results of the analysis concluded that the use of the PQ4R method could improve the reading comprehension skills of VB students at SD Negeri 1 Gemawang. Based on these results, the use of the PQ4R method can be used for further research with the hope that it can function as a problem solving in learning in elementary schools. Abstract

The purpose of this research to describe the process of learning mathematics by using interactive power point media in fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kebakalan Karanggayam Kebumen to improve student discipline and learning outcomes. This research was conducted in the fifth grade of SD Negeri 1 Kebakalan, Karanggayam District, Kebumen Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this study were all the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kebakalan Karanggayam Kebumen totaling 26 students. Data collection techniques in this study used observation techniques, test techniques, field notes, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that through the use of interactive power point media can improve discipline and learning outcomes of mathematics, indicated by the average percentage of pre-action student discipline is 50%, the first cycle increases to 73%, and the second cycle increases again to 89%. The increase in student learning outcomes is indicated by an increase in the number of students who meet the KKM and an increase in the average score of students. In the pre-action, the percentage of completeness is 31%. At the end of the first cycle it increased to 58% and at the end of the second cycle it increased to 77%. Thus, mathematics teachers are expected to be able to use interactive power point media in teaching in order to get maximum results.

Abstract

Rumpoen business group has a business making herbal powder drinks. The business is growing during the pandemic because herbal drinks can increase endurance. However, making herbal powder drinks requires much energy in the crystallization process. High energy needs affect the determination of product prices. As such, alternative technologies are needed to overcome them. The technology is a biomass stove with the principle of gasification technology that can produce higher heat energy than ordinary stoves. The purpose of this community service activity is to introduce biomass stoves as an alternative technology and biomass pellets made from production dregs waste. Activities were carried out through technology dissemination and presentations and ended with discussions, questions, and answers. Then all participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire to evaluate this community service activity. The evaluation results, related to the service activity's purpose, showed a level of 100%, from which the participants knew and understood the use of biomass stoves and the utilization of dregs waste into biomass pellets. However, the participants' interest in implementing the activity results only reached 60%. Overall, the participants stated that the level of satisfaction with community service activities was 4.8 out of a scale of 5. The participants hoped for more intensive service activities, additional training, and additional equipment assistance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of literacy-based Fun Thinkers Book media, describe the feasibility of literacy-based Fun Thinkers Book media, and describe student responses to literacy-based Fun Thinkers Book media in grade IV science learning at SD Negeri Gunung Agung. This type of research is Research and Development adapting the development method by Sugiyono. Data collection techniques use questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that the characteristics of literacy-based Fun Thinkers Book media contain material summaries, experimental activities, quizzes, and rewards and punishments that make it easier for students to understand the material, literacy-based Fun Thinkers Book media is very feasible to use based on the assessment of media experts with a score of 95%, material experts with a score of 92.5%, and class teachers with a score of 96.25%, and get a positive response from students with scores of 93% on limited tests and 92.5%  on the main test.
