Abstract

Objective: This scoping review aims to explore the role of vitamin B6 in sleep duration and immune function in individuals with anxiety disorders. Methods: A search was conducted on scientific databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar using the keywords "vitamin B6", "sleep", "immune system," and "anxiety disorders." Only articles published in Indonesian or English between 2017-2023 were included. Result: The findings of this review suggest that individuals with anxiety disorders experience shorter sleep duration and lower immune function compared to those without anxiety disorders. Previous studies have shown that short sleep duration can increase stress and inflammation in adolescents and adults. Vitamin B6 synthesizes neurotransmitters, which significantly regulate sleep and anxiety symptoms. Additionally, previous research has suggested that vitamin B6 plays a vital role in the immune system by reducing cytokine production and inflammation responses in many signaling pathways. Conclusion: This scoping review provides preliminary evidence of the association between vitamin B6, sleep duration, and immune function, particularly in individuals with anxiety disorders. Further research is required to elucidate the mechanisms involved in this relationship. The findings of this review can support further research on the potential benefits of vitamin B6 for sleep duration and immune function.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the food and beverage sector play a crucial role in the national economy and have shown rapid growth in the digital era (JDIH BPK RI, 2008; Indonesian SMEs, 2023). The widespread use of internet-based delivery services facilitates product distribution but simultaneously increases the consumption of single-use plastic packaging, which poses serious environmental challenges (Databoks, 2021; Waste-free, 2021). Plastic waste constitutes approximately 17% of total national waste (National Waste Management Information System, 2020), highlighting the urgency for innovative and sustainable solutions (Ministry of Environment and Forestry, 2021). This study aims to design environmentally friendly packaging for MSMEs in the food and beverage industry by integrating user needs with sustainability considerations. The research employs a design thinking-based innovation approach that includes stages of problem exploration, concept development, and product testing (Lewrick et al., 2020). The focus is on developing primary packaging solutions for soupy foods and cold beverages distributed through online delivery platforms. The findings reveal that eco-friendly packaging materials can effectively reduce reliance on single-use plastics while maintaining usability and convenience (Fischer et al., 2019). Moreover, the right packaging design not only promotes environmental sustainability but also enhances the competitiveness of MSMEs in the market (Louw & Kimber, 2007). In conclusion, implementing eco-friendly packaging innovations represents a strategic and effective approach to minimizing plastic waste impacts while ensuring the efficient and sustainable distribution of food and beverage products.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed a profound psychological crisis, markedly increasing rates of depression, anxiety, loneliness, and PTSD, especially among young adults, women, racialized communities, and individuals with lower education and income. Effective coping strategies like positive reframing, humor, and acceptance have been linked to improved mental health outcomes, while maladaptive coping correlates with worsening psychosocial symptoms. This study explores the biopsychosocial factors that shape adaptive coping mechanisms in COVID-19 survivors. Using a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach, data were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The study involved 378 COVID-19 survivors from Surakarta, who completed both online (via Telegram and WhatsApp) and offline questionnaires between November 2022 and January 2023. The sample predominantly consisted of women (73%, n=276) aged 18-40 years (89.7%, n=339), with a high prevalence of adaptive coping mechanisms (97.1%, n=367). Results revealed that gender (p=0.029, B=-1.497), history of mental disorders (p=0.039, B=-2.002), and alcohol/substance use (p=0.027, B=-2.572) had a significant influence on adaptive coping. These findings suggest that gender, mental health history, and substance use as crucial factors influencing adaptive coping among COVID-19 survivors. Abstract

Self-management and the Health Belief Model (HBM) have been shown to improve blood pressure control and quality of life (QoL). However, the effectiveness of integration self-management with HBM for hypertension requires further clarification. This study examined the effect of integration self-management with HBM on blood pressure and QoL among individuals with uncontrolled hypertension. A total of 138 eligible participants were allocated into two groups: one receiving self-management integrated with HBM-based education (n = 69) and the other receiving regular education (n = 69). Independent t-tests, Chi-squared tests, and generalized estimating equation (GEE) were conducted. The findings showed a significant interaction between groups in systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) after 12 weeks compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Importantly, there was a significant increase in QoL across physical, psychological, social relationships, and environmental domains. Specifically, the intervention group demonstrated significantly higher QoL scores than the control group over time (β = 22.756, 95% CI [20.623, 24.901], p < 0.001). The effectiveness of integration self-management with HBM significantly reduced blood pressure and increased QoL.
