Abstract

Cultivating Floating Net Cages on Lake Laut Tawar has become an activity supporting the people's economy. The profits obtained by cultivators range from IDR 2.5 – 7 million per maintenance period. However, on the other hand, this activity can reduce the carrying capacity of the waters of Lake Laut Tawar due to waste pollution originating from leftover feed. One of the impacts is the mass death of fish in the floating net cages. The core problem of this problem is the lack of knowledge of Floating net cage cultivators and workers regarding feed management and water pollution. This problem can be solved by increasing the knowledge of Floating net cage farmers and workers in Lake Laut Tawar. The method used in this activity was counseling on using environmentally friendly feed in the Floating Net Cage system for fish farming in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh. The aim and output targetted of this community service activity were to increase the application of science and technology in the community, in the form of improving the management of the use of fish feed d in floating net cages system. Evaluation of the level of success and satisfaction of participants was carried out using a questionnaire. Based on an analysis of the level of satisfaction and success, 80-90% of farmers are very satisfied with this community service activity. The benefits of this activity provide knowledge and positive motivation for partners in tilapia culture in floating net cages by increasing production as well as protecting the environment from pollution.

Abstract

Microalgae are single-celled microorganisms with pigments and can produce photosynthesis to produce food and oxygen. The addition of liquid organic fertilizer from wild banana stem waste (Musa acuminata) and coconut husk as a source of nutrients can be used to increase the cell density of Spirulina platensis. This research was conducted on September 18-27 at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries and Marine, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a non-factorial Complete Randomized Design (RAL) of 5 treatments and 3 repeats. The study is treatment A Control (Walne fertilizer), treatment B (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 12 ml / L of sea water), treatment C (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 14 ml / L of seawater), treatment D (Mixture of POC Waste of forest banana stems and coconut husk 16 ml / L of seawater), treatment E (Mixture of POC Forest banana stem waste and coconut husk 18 ml/L seawater). The results of this study showed that the use of POC from forest banana stem waste and coconut husk as a culture medium for Spirulina platensis had a real effect with F calculate 43,850 F tabel (0.05) 3.48 to the peak population and had a real effect on the growth rate of Spirulina platensis with F calculate (26,884) F table (0.05) 3.48.Keywords: Coconut husk; POC; Spirulina platensis; Wild banana stem waste.

Abstract

Chlorella  sp. is microalgae species used to treat wastewater and can grow and develop well inside contaminated environments by interweaving symbiosis with bacterial decomposers. This study purposed to evaluate the effectiveness of Chlorella sp. in the phytoremediation of different wastewater from North Aceh. This research used the experimental laboratory method with an experimental design Non-Factorial Completely Randomized Design. The treatment factor was different wastewater obtained from North Aceh consisting of A: domestic wastewater, B: tofu wastewater, and C: slaughterhouse wastewater repeated three times. The observed parameters were water quality parameters (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, nitrate, and phosphate concentration, decrement of organic materials, and microalgae growth. The result showed that Chlorella sp. could remediate the wastewater by decreasing the organic materials in the wastewater. The temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen in wastewater were optimal for Chlorella’s life. Implementation of Chlorella sp. gave a significant effect (p<0.05) on the efficiency of organic materials decrement in wastewater, namely BOD 64,6%-65%, nitrate 76,8%-91,2%, and phosphate 72,7%-94,6%. Furthermore, the suitable wastewater for Chlorella sp. growth with its highest peak value (p<0,05) was the slaughterhouse wastewater. The recommended wastewater was slaughterhouse remediated by Chlorella sp. to be used as cultivation media of fish.

Abstract

The mortality of tinfoil barb during transportation is relatively high due to the oxygen consumption rate and excretion of these fishes. Therefore, the use of an appropriate anesthetic drug becomes one of the solutions for solving this transportation problem of tinfoil barb. One of the natural anesthetic drugs with potential to be studied is Chromolaena odorata leaves. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of anesthetic compounds from Chromolaena odorata leaves in the closed transportation of tinfoil barb. The experimental design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design that consisted of four treatments and three replications,then followed by a Tukey test to see if there was a significant difference. The experimental treatments were A (0 ml/L of leaves filtrate), B (80 ml/L of leaves filtrate), C (90 ml/L of leaves filtrate), and D (100 ml/L of leaves filtrate). The observed parameters were fish behavior towards unconscious condition, onset time, immotilization time, survival rate, and water quality. The results showed that the shortest onset time was obtained from treatment D (100 ml/L leaves filtrate), namely 58 minutes towards unconscious condition, then the longest immotilization time was also shown by treatment D, which was 371 minutes. The highest survival rates were also shown by treatment D which were 94,33% during transportation and 76,33% during culture. Abstract

Arthrospira platensis has emerged as a promising biodiesel feedstock due to its rapid growth and substantial biomass. In efforts to reduce production costs, researchers have explored alternative media derived from livestock waste to modify conventional mediums for Arthrospira platensis cultivation. The experimental design of this research employed a Completely Randomized Design, with treatments comprising inorganic fertilizer (A), chicken manure (B), cow manure (C), and goat manure (D). The livestock manures were macerated for seven days before being utilized as A. platensis medium. The results revealed significant (p < 0.05) impacts of different media on peak growth values and biomass production, reaching 2.03 ± 0.06 g/L and 1.76 ± 0.05 g/ L, respectively for chicken manure. The highest peak lipid content was observed in A. platensis cultured in goat manure medium. This study recommends goat manure as the preferred medium for mass cultivation of A. platensis. Mass cultivation in goat manure medium yielded 1.53 kg of dried biomass, with a lipid content of 1.91% and a biodiesel yield of 1.65%. The predominant fatty acid in this biodiesel was heneicosane, constituting 26.4% of the total area.

Abstract

Dalam upaya memanfaatkan sumberdaya perikanan secara maksimal, maka perlu didukung dengan  engetahuan dan teknologi. Lokasi penangkapan ikan oleh nelayan Desa Cot Seurani cenderung tidak tepat karena umumnya hanya mengandalakan tanda-tanda alam, perasaan, dan faktor keberuntungan. Bahkan tidak jarang pula saat menurunkan alat tangkap (seperti jaring, pancing, dan lain-lain). Penggunaan teknologi yang tepat merupakan salah satu alternatif yang dapat memecahkan masalah penangkapan ikan. Salah satu teknologi yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh nelayan adalah fish finder. Fish finder merupakan teknologi yang dapat mendeteksi objek bawah laut yang dengan memanfaatkan gelombang suara (akustik). Fish finder dapat memberikan informasi yang detail yaitu tentang kelimpahan, sebaran, dan posisi ikan, serta alat ini mampu memberikan data real time. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan peningkatan keterampilan kepada nelayan khususnya kelompok nelayan desa cot seurani tentang manfaat penggunaan fish finder. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan community development (pengembangan masyarakat) melalui pelatihan berdasarkan teori dan praktik dengan ceramah serta diskusi yang terarah (Focus Group Discussion/FGD). Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dimulai dengan survei lokasi, penandatanganan Kerjasama dengan kelompok nelayan dan pelatihan. Kegiatan pengabdian terlaksana dengan baik, terstruktur, lancar serta sukses, dimana pelaksanaan kegiatannya dilakukan dengan 2 sesi yaitu sesi teori dan sesi praktik. Dampak dari pengabdian ini nelayan mampu menggunakan Fish Finder dengan baik serta nelayan mengerti dan memahami hasil luaran (membaca layar) dari Fish Finder sehingga nantinya diharapkan mampu meningkatkan produksi perikanan tangkapan dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan kelompok nelayan.

Abstract

Indonesia is a maritime country that has seaweed natural resources that have the potential to be developed. Several types of seaweed have started to be cultivated by manipulating the cultivation environment such as providing various types of fertilizers to complement nutrient needs. This research was carried out at the Hatchery Laboratory of the Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University in February –March 2020 which aims to determine the growth rate of Caulerpa racemosa by applying liquid organic fertilizer with different concentrations in the cultivation media. The design used was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely A Control (without giving liquid organic fertilizer), B (giving liquid organic fertilizer with a concentration of 0.22 mL fertilizer/L water), C (giving organic fertilizer). liquid concentration of 0.28 mL of fertilizer/L of water) and D (giving of liquid organic fertilizer with a concentration of 0.34 mL of fertilizer/L of water). The results showed that the application of liquid organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on the length growth rate of seaweed (Caulerpa racemosa). The best growth rate was in treatment D with a length growth rate of 9.2 cm. There was no significant difference between the weight growth rate and the regeneration rate of the thallus. However, based on the growth yield data for all treatments, it can be said that the higher the concentration of liquid fertilizer used, the better the growth of seaweed (Caulerpa racemosa).Keywords: Caulerpa rasemosa; Pertumbuhan; Pupuk cair; Rumput Laut.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of the project-based learning instructional model on students' science literacy skills and self-efficacy in rectilinear motion kinematics at SMA Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe. The research design employed is a quasi-experiment in the form of a Nonequivalent (Pretest And Posttest) Control Group Design. The study population consists of ten classes of eleventh-grade IPAS students at SMA Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, with XI IPAS 1 (36 students) selected as the experimental class using the PjBL learning model and XI IPAS 4 (36 students) as the control class using the direct instruction learning model. Data collection is conducted through a 10-item essay test and a non-test questionnaire on student self-efficacy comprising 20 statements. Data analysis utilizes the Manova test. This research indicates that the PjBL learning model impacts science literacy skills based on the Manova test results, which show 0.000 < 0.05, signifying a significant influence on the average science literacy skills. The PjBL learning model also influences self-efficacy according to the Manova test results, which demonstrate 0.004 < 0.05, indicating a significant impact on the average self-efficacy. Furthermore, the PjBL learning model affects science literacy skills and self-efficacy, as evidenced by the important results of the Manova test, 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis  is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Based on this, it can be inferred that the PjBL learning model influences the science literacy skills and self-efficacy of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe.Keywords: Project-Based Learning Model, Science Literacy Skills, Self-Efficacy

Abstract

Scientific literacy is scientific knowledge that is used to identify various questions and draw conclusions based on facts. Based on the interview results, students' scientific literacy abilities were not optimal, this research was conducted with the aim of finding out the effect of the inquiry training model assisted by Assembler media on students' scientific literacy abilities. This research is quantitative research using quasi-experimental research and a nonequivalent control group design. The sampling technique chosen was a total sampling of 48 students, namely 24 students in class XI-IPA 1 as the control class and 24 students in class XI-IPA 2 as the experimental class. The instruments used in this research used non-test instruments in the form of interviews and test instruments in the form of pretest and posttest questions in the form of essays totaling 10 questions. Meanwhile, data analysis uses prerequisite tests which include normality, homogeneity and hypothesis testing. The research results showed that the average scientific literacy pretest score for the experimental class, namely class XI-IPA 2, was 35.21 with a posttest score of 76.46, while the control class, namely class the results of the statistical hypothesis test obtained a Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 with a significance level of 0.05. It can be concluded that there is an influence of the inquiry training model assisted by assembler media on students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility and practicality of STEM-based LKPD learning media products on thermodynamics material as a medium that makes it easier for students to study thermodynamics material. The instrument used in the research is a feasibility and practicality questionnaire which will be given by material and media experts and given to teachers in the field of physics and students in class XI IPA 2 MAS Syamsuddhuha. This development research method refers to Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The research results showed that experts in the media field gave a feasibility assessment of 92.3% with a very feasible category, experts in the material field gave an assessment of 88.6% with a feasible category and teacher responses gave an assessment of 86% with a very practical percentage. The results of small-scale product trials gave an assessment of 86.9% in the very practical category and the results of large-scale product trials gave an assessment of 84% in the very practical category.
