Abstract

This article aims to discuss the basic principles of Mulla Sadras thinking, namely his ideas about ontology and epistemology. This qualitative research uses library data, especially references written by Mulla Sadra and works that have been written about his thoughts. The findings of this article prove that Mulla Sadras main ontology discusses the difference between wujud and mahiyah. This discussion is very important to determine which is the essence of reality, because the nature of reality is one. In Mulla Sadras thought, wujud is more fundamental than wujud in external reality, although in the mind, wujud is more fundamental than wujud. Because mahiyah is only a barrier for the wujud that is formed by the mind. Wujud is the single foundation for external reality. In the epistemological system of Mulla Sadras teachings, an important focus is the difference between knowledge through confirmation (hushuli) and knowledge through presence (hudhuri). Mulla Sadra emphasized that hudhuri is more valid than hushuli. He concluded that hushuli was actually hudhuri. Mulla Sadras philosophy was heavily influenced by many previous philosophers, especially Ibn Sina, Syihab al-Din al-Suhrawardi, and Ibn Arabi.

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the history of the integration of religious knowledge and general knowledge in Aceh. The focus of the analysis is on the classical period, the modern period, and the contemporary period. The research approach uses the historical method by conducting: Topic selection, namely the history of the integration-interconnection of religious and general sciences in Aceh; Source collection, namely collecting materials or literature sources related to the research subject; Verification, namely testing the authenticity and credibility of materials or sources; Interpretation, namely analyzing and synthesizing sources, and; Writing, namely writing the selected topic, the history of the internalization of knowledge in Aceh. This research is based on the concept of integration and interconnection of knowledge initiated by M. Amin Abdullah, with a focus on its application to religious and general knowledge in Aceh. The results of the study show that in the classical period, influenced by certain political forces, some educational institutions made philosophical Sufism a hardcore science, and others made theological studies a hardcore. In the modern and contemporary periods, madrasas made monotheism knowledge as a hardcore science.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the biographies of three early modernist figures in Indonesia, namely Cokroaminoto, Agus Salim, and Mohammad Natsir to find the typical roots of modern Islamic organizational movements in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative type with a biographical narrative approach. We explore references related to the biographies of these three figures to find the root of character for modern Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The research findings show that in Cokroaminoto's biographical narrative, it is found that the organizational control model requires administrative management skills, external relationship, and conflict management skills. Agus Salim's biographical narrative shows that he has pioneered the andragogy education system in the cadre of organizational members. Natsir's biographical narrative has shown the patron of the establishment of a modern Islamic school: by reducing the rote method, accommodating general education, and appreciating art education. Natsir can also be a reminder that intense involvement with the religious learning system can make an activist leave a formal education career opportunity as Natsir missed a scholarship opportunity to the Netherlands, because he was too impressed with the puritanical teachings of religion.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to analyse the context of the analogies used by Ḥamzah Fanșūrī in teaching wujūdiyya doctrine in his work, Asrār al-‘Ārifīn. The importance of this study is to reveal how he easily taught complex metaphysical concepts in Sufism. He used objects easily recognised by the Malay community as analogies. This article is a literature study using an analytical-descriptive approach. This study found that the metaphors used by Ḥamzah Fanșūrī in teaching the relationship between singularity and plurality in ujūdiyya doctrine were clay and earthen vessels, sun and its light, wood and chess pieces, and sea and wave. In comparison, secondary analogies such as fruit, seeds, mirrors, people, rivers, stones, and iron were used to explain the various dimensions of wujūdiyya teachings. His approach is therefore easy to understand.Contribution: This article opens a new perspective in understanding Sufism, especially the wujūdiyya doctrine in Ḥamzah Fanșūrī’s teaching. The analogies used are easy to understand. The analogy proposed by Ḥamzah Fanșūrī can be used as a reference to reveal the metaphors used by other Sufis in teaching wujūdiyya.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the efforts to dominate thirdspace in urban millennial cafes in Bireuen City, Aceh, by state sharia. Thirdspace is a concrete space as the actuality of contestation in secondspace by each group. Because secondspace determines the domination of thirdspace, state sharia through authoritative institutions, namely Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Civil Service Police Unit) & Wilayatul Hisbah (Satpol PP&WH) is trying to take preventive action. This qualitative research uses an anthropological approach. Researchers collected data from observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies related to research subjects. The theory used in this research is Thirdspace by Edward Soja about the process of forming thirdspace as a public place. The focus of this research is Bireuen City, as a strategic city from the point of view of rapid social change, advanced economy, strategic geographical location, and rapid development of public places for millennials. The research findings show that state sharia through Satpol PP&WH conducts Islamic religious education, especially theology and Islamic ethical philosophy education for millennials by visiting many high schools, as an effort to dominate thirdspace through secondspace, especially urban millennial cafes in Bireuen City.
