Abstract

Bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) and Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) are a marine commodity that has high nutritional content and economic value in the market. However, based on data from Palabuhanratu Archipelago Fishing Port, there has been a high decrease in the catch of Bigeye tuna and Yellowfin tuna since 2016 although slightly increased in the following year, so it is necessary to analyze the size trends of them as a target fish of many fishermen at the port. The purpose of this study is to determine the size trend of Bigeye and Yellowfin tuna for the next few years and to determine the steps to maintain their sustainability. The method used in this research is a case study and analyzed using regression analysis. The results showed that the size trend of Bigeye tuna and Yellowfin tuna catch until 2022 will tend to decline. This indicates the occurrence of overfishing so that it does not provide opportunities for fish to grow and develop. Therefore, catch control efforts are needed to maintain the sustainability of fish stocks.

Abstract

The increasing number of tourist visits and activities of coastal communities affects the distribution of marine waste on the Pangandaran coast, resulting in waste generation that pollutes the coastal environment. This is due to a lack of awareness in disposing of waste in its proper place, a lack of cleaning facilities and a waste transport fleet by the Pangandaran district government. The aim of this research is to provide an evaluation regarding the distribution of marine waste and its management on Pantai Timur, Pantai Barat and Pantai Madasari. Using Survey Method and Driving Force-Pressure-State-Impact-Response data analysis. The research location was carried out in three locations, namely on the Pantai Timur, Pantai Barat and Pantai Madasari. The results of this research are that the distribution of marine debris on Pantai Timur, Pantai Barat and Pantai Madasari is categorized as moderate. This causes pressure on coastal areas where there is waste generation at several research stations. The most common type of waste is plastic waste with a percentage of 45-54% on Pantai Timur, 36-55% on Pantai Barat and 43-51% on Pantai Madasari. The type of waste that is least found is rubber with a percentage of 2-3%. The actions taken by Pangandaran Village and the Pangandaran Regency Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) are waste management using a collect-transport-dispose system, community service to clean the beach with the community on Fridays, and the availability of several rubbish bins at every distance of 10 meters. Waste management on Pantai Madasari is managed by the village government, where this authority is handed over to Village-Owned Enterprises using a collect-transport-dispose system and burned directly at the temporary disposal site (TPS).Keywords: Coastal; DPSIR; plastic; pollution; waste distribution

Abstract

Comparison between the usages of fisheries resources and the allowable catch in Indonesia is in the fully exploited category, which means that fishing efforts are maintained with close monitoring. This study aims to analyze whether fisheries management practices, especially in Palabuhanratu Nusantara Fishing Port, have been managed sustainably or not based on indicators in the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM), and identify strategies for developing and strengthening fisheries management in the area according to the results of the EAFM evaluation. The method used is a survey method using composite analysis and flag modeling visualization techniques. This method will assess the EAFM indicator as a multi-criteria system that ends in a composite index in the form of a score of values related to the level of achievement or sustainability of fisheries management by EAFM principles. The results show that the mean composite value for all EAFM domains is 66.72 with a good category. Then the strategies for developing and strengthening the sustainability of fisheries management at Palabuhanratu Nusantara Fishing Port are through increasing the status of the port to become an Ocean Fishery Port, increasing the added value of the economy of fishery products, strengthening the regulations with fair law enforcement, optimizing the usage of technology in fisheries management, and strengthening the system fishery business capital. It is hoped that similar research can be carried out at least at the coastal fishing port to ocean fishing port, as one of the bases for determining the sustainability of fisheries management at a wider level.

Abstract

Indramayu is a regencyin West Java with a coastline length of ± 114 km bordering the Java Sea and has a mangrove forest covering an area of 4060.5 ha. A small part (27,58 ha) of this mangrove forest is located Karangsong Village, Indramayu regency. Karangsong Indramayu mangrove forest has 4 types of mangroves namely Avicennia marina, Rhizophora stylosa, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora mucronata, where A. marina and R. stylosa dominated the are. The purpose of this study was to obtain the profile of nutrients in the coastal waters of Indramayu, identify the composition of mangrove vegetation, and to analyze the relationship between nutrients and mangrove vegetation composition in the coastal waters of Indramayu. The method used in this study was a survey approach method, quantitative approach, and data gained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that apart from dissolved oxygen, the temperature, salinity, and pH in the waters of Karangsong Indramayu were classified to follow the characteristics of mangrove growth. The substrates at the research site silty loam and silty clay loam. Nutrient content was in the range of 0.211 mg/L – 0.252 mg/L(nitrate), 0.135 mg/L – 0.277 mg/L (nitrites), 0.51 mg/L - 0.74 mg/L (ammonia), and 0.109 mg/L – 0.140 mg/L (phosphate). The relationship between mangrove composition and nutrient profiles was directly proportional, where less nutrient content showed a decrease in mangrove growth

Abstract

Nutrient is one of the most essential elements in the growth and development of marine ecosystem. The aim for this research is to measure the fertility level of Nusawiru Water in Pangandaran West Java. The method used is survey and laboratory analysis using descriptive comparative method. The method used to estimate the level of fertility in this study is the TSI method. The result indicated that the chemical nutrient profile at Nusawiru consists of Ammonia (NH3), Nitrate (NO3-), Nitrite (NO2-), O-Phosphate (PO4). The total amount of Phosphate and chlorophyl shows that the water in the observation station of waste pond, estuary, delta, and open water are in Ultraoligotrophic status. The limiting factor in the waters of Nusawiru Pangandaran is phosphate, because the ratio of N and P at all observation stations are >12.
