Abstract

Indonesia, being on the equator, possesses significant solar energy potential with an average radiation intensity of 4.8 kWh/m² per day. This potential can be utilised for various sectors, including the salt production industry which requires a stable electricity supply. Solar Power Plant (PLTS) is a strategic alternative in increasing the efficiency of salt production, especially in the drying stage. This study aims to analyse the performance of the energy storage system in the solar power plant battery used in the salt production process. The research method involved measuring the voltage from the solar panel stored in the battery through three daily testing sessions. The test results showed that the highest voltage, 12.59 Volts, was reached in the morning and afternoon, while in the afternoon it decreased as the intensity of sunlight decreased. The results of this study show that solar power plants play an important role in maintaining a stable supply of electrical energy to support salt production. However, voltage fluctuations due to changes in sunlight intensity emphasise the importance of optimising the energy storage system. Therefore, the development of more efficient storage technologies is needed to increase the effectiveness of renewable energy-based salt production.

Abstract

To power low-power household appliances, this study investigates the harvesting of RF signal energy using a Villard–Dickson rectifier circuit and a 470 MHz dipole antenna. The RF signal from the handy talkie is converted into DC voltage when measured from a distance of 5 to 25 cm. The voltage drops from 7.7V to 1.5V, and the current drops from 30mA to 10mA. A relationship showing the voltage and current decreasing almost inversely with distance was found thru logarithmic regression data analysis. A high coefficient of determination indicates compatibility with free-space propagation theory. At a distance of 5 cm, the highest RF-to-DC conversion efficiency reached 18.3%. The resulting regression model allows for performance prediction at distances beyond testing and serves as a practical guide for building wireless power transmission systems and low-power IoT applications. Additionally, this model also serves as a scientific reference for research and dissertations in the field of RF energy harvesting. Highlights: RF-to-DC conversion achieved up to 18.3% efficiency at 5 cm. Voltage and current decrease inversely with distance, supported by logarithmic regression. Regression model enables prediction and application in low-power IoT systems. Keywords: regresi logaritmik, rectifier Villard-Dickson, antenna dipole

Abstract

Natural food colorant is increasingly being developed and applied to food products. Natural food coloring is safer to use because it does not cause side effects to health. Indonesia is rich in the availability of red dragon fruit. In general, people only eat dragon fruit flesh, while the skin is not used. Red dragon fruit skin is rich in betacyanin pigment which produces a red-violet color. This pigment needs to be extracted so that it is separated from other skin components. Extraction using ohmic heating technology can be a solution to extract betacyanin pigment. The aim of the study was to determine the characteristics of the betacyanin pigment from red dragon fruit skin extracted using the ohmic heating method. The study used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors, the first factor was the type of solvent (aquades, 0.25% NaCl solution, 0.25% citric acid) and the second factor was the amount of voltage (30 V, 40 V, 50 V). The results showed that the highest betacyanin content was found in the 0.25% NaCl solvent treatment, which was 5.15 mg/L. Extracts stored in the refrigerator for 5 days did not show a significant change in extract betacyanin pigment levels.

Abstract

Naturally, one of the causes of crop failure in agriculture is flooding brought on by unchecked water overflow, particularly during the rainy season. Crop failure is a common source of complaints from farmers because, in addition to making it harder for them to sell their harvests, it decreases the price at which rice is sold to customers, which reduces the amount of people who purchase rice. This project aims to develop a hybrid dam water level control system prototype for paddy field irrigation. In this instance, the innovative flood monitoring and control system integrates Blynk as a user interface that can be accessible via software, along with an ESP 32 monitoring unit and a NodeMCU 8266 controller. like smartphone devices. The ESP 32 controls servo motor 1 to open the dam door in the event of flooding. In addition, the ESP 32 monitors the dam's water level using the I2C LCD and alerts the user with a bell. The NodeMCU 8266 functions as a link to the ultrasonic sensor to relay the water level data to the ESP 32. Through the Blynk application, the user can manually control Servo motor 2 to open and close the dam door with configurable water level limitations. The results of the studies indicate that this system functions flawlessly, from setting up a warning system to connecting tools. The system may be manually operated by making use of microcontroller technology.

Abstract

The emergence of the Lapindo Sidoarjo mudflow has a long history since 29 May 2006. The point of the mudflow is in Siring Village, and until now, it has shown no signs of stopping. Sidoarjo residents are still fearful of the impact and recurrence of the mudflow, especially those still living around the embankment. The real impact is often still felt, such as embankment leaks, embankment collapses, or overflowing water mixed with mud during high rainfall, making people who still live around the embankment anxious. The unavailability of monitoring information to the public and the unclear mitigation system makes it necessary to have an information system that is easily accessible to the public. Therefore, by utilizing the advances in Internet of Things technology, this research will design a prototype system to monitor the conditions around Lapindo Sidoarjo Mud using Telegram Bot as a user interface, the ESP32-Cam microcontroller board, SW-420 vibration sensor, and MPU-6050 accelerometer sensor. The result of testing this prototype tool is that the Telegram user will receive a notification if the condition of the prototype field is experiencing vibrations or changes in position. Other than that, the Telegram user can also request real-time information, such as temperature, the axis position of the prototype as an initial benchmark, and the current photo to know the condition of the Lapindo Sidoarjo mud embankment. That way, it is hoped that this prototype system will become a monitoring and mitigation solution for the local people and the general public who reach this Telegram Bot room chat.

Abstract

In modern times like this, many wheelchairs have been developed with various controls, ranging from manual ones, namely by being pushed by other people or using their hands to turn the wheel, to automatic ones, such as electric wheelchairs that use joysticks and Electromyography control. The control of the electromyography signal utilizes muscles that can still be used to move the wheelchair, in this case, using the hand muscles. The use of a Bluetooth wireless system in sending electromyography signals aims to facilitate the use of a wheelchair without interference from the many connected cables so that users are more flexible in placing the electromyography sensor on the user's hand muscles. By placing the electromyography sensor on the user's arm, the electromyography sensor detects a contraction or relaxation, which is indicated by the LED flame. The output value of the sensor will be compared with a predetermined limit value. When the value is greater than the limit value, it will produce a logic low; when the value is less than the limit value, it will build a logic high. The Arduino microcontroller will calculate every low logic. The results of these calculations will be processed into serial data. The serial data will be sent to the HC-05 enslaved person via the HC-05 master wirelessly. The motor driver will execute the data so that it produces motion forward, backward, turn right, turn left and stop. It is hoped that this tool can help individuals with limited movement so that they do not have difficulty in mobility.
