Abstract

Knowledge of information technology has become a requirement that must be met by someone. This is because most of a person's daily activities involve information technology assistance, both teaching and learning activities, working in agencies and entrepreneurship. In addition, knowledge of information technology is a person's main capital to be able to compete in the era of globalization and the progress of the times to come. This service is carried out in Gabusbanaran Village, Tembelang District, Jombang. The purpose of this service is to focus on optimizing the Village Information System (SID) application, adapting the Village Information System (SID) application to the needs of village administration, and providing an understanding of the use of the Village Information System (SID) application. The method of implementing the activities aims to find solutions to the problems experienced by the village government in inputting data. This is done with work procedures that support the realization of making application systems. The service method uses the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) approach, which is a method by utilizing assets owned by the local community which is seen as being able to support community empowerment activities. The results of community service in optimizing the Village Information System (SID) application are providing additional insight and knowledge and skills to the ranks of Gabusbanaran village officials regarding village information systems, assisting in disseminating information quickly and thoroughly through the website and making it easier for the community to get information from the village.

Abstract

Yard land for plant cultivation is an action in improving people's welfare. The yard of the house is generally not too wide so that if it is used as a land for plant cultivation, it will be more efficient, so there is a need for cultivation innovations that can be carried out in an easy, practical way to maintain and can streamline a narrow yard. Based on the results of the analysis, the problems that need to be resolved related to the planned community service activities are as follows: (1) lack of public knowledge about the use of yard land for food crops using verticulture technology based on plastic waste, (2) lack of public awareness to manage plastic waste, (3) the community, especially housewives, have not made optimal use of their home yards for plants that can be used as daily food needs, (4) the community's lack of interest in creating a clean environment, aesthetic value, and economic value. The method used is socialization which aims to increase public knowledge in utilizing the yard of the house with verticulture techniques. This community service activity in the form of socialization has provided benefits to participants, the perceived benefit is the increase in the level of knowledge of PKK mothers and also IPNU-IPPNU youth about vegetable cultivation techniques with verticulture techniques. This activity was considered quite successful in increasing the skills of the participants.

Abstract

Hand sanitizer is one of the antiseptic ingredients in the form of a gel that is often used by many people as a practical hand washing medium. Hand sanitizer can be used anytime and anywhere, for example after handling money, before eating, after using the toilet and after taking out the trash. Partner problems in this activity are (1) partners do not know about the importance of preventing the spread of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) and implementing health protocols. (2) partners do not yet know the benefits and use values ​​of betel leaf plants, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice and lemongrass stalks as natural hand sanitizers. (3) lack of knowledge and skills of partners regarding the manufacture of this natural hand sanitizer. The purpose of this activity is as follows (1) to educate the public about the importance of preventing the spread of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) and implementing health protocols. (2) to increase the use value of betel leaf plants, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice and lemongrass stalks as natural hand sanitizers. (3) to improve the knowledge and skills of the community as well as to improve the community's economy during the pandemic. This service uses the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The ABCD approach is an approach that leads to an independent and maximum understanding and internalization of assets, strengths, potential, and utilization. The conclusion obtained from this service activity is that there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of the Gabusbanaran Village community about how to make hand sanitizers from natural ingredients so that they can reduce additional costs for purchasing hand sanitizer products themselves in tackling the spread of Covid-19.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di MTs Al Hikmah Pucangsimo Jombang memiliki tujuan: (1) menganalisis kemampuan para siswa dan siswi di MTs Al Hikmah Pucangsimo Jombang. (2) menganilisis peminatan siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab. (3) menganalisis kurangnya segi pengajaran dan pemahaman siswa terhadap bahasa Arab. Metode pendekatan untuk pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini meliputi metode ceramah,diskusi. Metode yangdigunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah menggunakan metode sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan mediabelajar. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat, dapat disimpulkan hal-hal sebagai berikut. (1) memberikan tambahan wawasan dan pengetahuan serta keterampilan pada peserta didik MTs Al Hikmah Pancangsimo Kabupaten Jombang untuk bisa dalam berbahasa arab. (2) Menumbuhkan semangat pada peserta didik untuk mengetahui kosakata berbahasa arab di MTs Al Hikmah Pancangsimo Kabupaten Jombang dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran dimana ada peningkatan keterampilan menggunakan media belajar game.

Abstract

Scientific writing is a language skill that requires active thinking ability, and is included in the literacy competence that must be mastered by students. Scientific writing skills can be achieved through concrete and integrated learning activities that involve students actively. This community service activity aims to train students in MAN 3 Jombang to be able to produce scientific writings that are in accordance with applicable writing rules. The stages carried out in this community service activity were socialization, training, and assistance. Monitoring and evaluation are also carried out at each stage. This activity was carried out at MAN 3 Jombang from August 2020 to October 2020. The participants of this activity were 20 people who were class students X, XI, and XII. As many as 90% of participants participated in the activity enthusiastically and were able to produce scientific writing which were included in several national youth scientific writing competitions. The other 10% of participants had not been able to produce scientific papers in accordance with the rules of writing, so that they could not be included in the competition. The follow-up plan for this community service activity is to optimize the extracurricular Youth Scientific Group at the school, so that more students are able to produce good scientific papers.

Abstract

Mathematics has a very important role in everyday life, where almost everything around us is related to mathematics, including culture in our society, especially concept of geometric shapes. However, the mathematics lessons that students learn at school are sometimes different from the mathematical problems encountered in everyday life, which makes it difficult for students to relate mathematical concepts to problems from real-world contexts. Therefore, teachers and educators could employ innovative and relevant teaching materials, which is also intended to increase the motivation of students to learn the theoretical material presented. Which is an abstract mathematical concept. One of teaching materials that can be used is the Student Worksheet (LKPD). In order for LKPD to be relevant to the real life of students, mathematical activities in LKPD are arranged using activities related to the daily lives of students, especially for junior high school students (SMP/MTs). Therefore, this research is about the development students’ worksheet in Triangles and Quadrilaterals concept within contextual problems for VII grade students. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) research, by adapting ADDIE model. The study was conducted at a class of VII at MTsN 4 Jombang. The results show that the Triangles and Quadrilaterals worksheet within contextual problems are valid and practical. Besides that, the results of the implementation of the Triangles and Quadrilaterals worksheet within contextual problems in this study showed that only focus on mathematical activities to solve procedural problems without relating them to real contexts in everyday life.

Abstract

There are many students that have difficulties in learning mathematics. One of them is dueto lack of meaningful learning in mathematics-classroom, so that students' learning motivation is low. Learning becomes meaningful if the concepts are presented as contexts or situations in which students "experience" themselves. The use of mathematics in everyday life is the main idea of ​​mathematical literacy. Context of daily life that is closest to students is personal context. One of the mathematical materials that is widely applied to solve problems in everyday life is the concept of probability. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the use of personal context as a mathematical activity in learning probability. Mathematics activities can be presented with the use of teaching materials, one of which is Student-Worksheet. Thus, in this study, Student-Worksheet on the concept probability is developed by employing personal context. This study is a research-design within ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). This study produces a product in the form of Student-Worksheet based on personal context for Probability for 8th graders. The results of this study shows that the Student-Worksheet developed is valid and practical. In addition, based on the results of the implementation phase, it shows that the Student-Worksheet is effective in facilitating students’understanding on the concept of probability.

Abstract

Students’ understanding and mastery in determining the surface area and volume of geometric shapes, especially flat-sided shapes, is an important ability due to many applications of it in real life. The concepts of surface area and volume not only expand students' understanding of spatial measurements, but also can develop students' understanding in multiplication, fraction, algebraic multiplication and dilation. However, based on results of previous studies, difficulties often faced by students in solving surface area and volume problems which are related to conceptual errors. Many students also have difficulties in understanding and applying concepts and skills involving this concept. Therefore, teachers should select and use relevant teaching materials. One of them is that teachers can arrange teaching materials consisting of several activities that can be made in the form of worksheets that can help students build knowledge independently. One form of teaching materials that can be developed in order to meet this need is the Student Worksheet (LKPD). Therefore, this research is about the development students’ worksheet in Prism and Pyramid concept within contextual problems for VIII grade students. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) research, by adapting ADDIE model. The results show that the Prism and Pyramid worksheet within contextual problems are valid and practical. Besides that, the results of the implementation of the Contextual-Based Worksheets on Prism and Pyramid in this study showed that the use of context-based worksheets effectively helps students understand the mathematics material.

Abstract

Desain grafis telah menjadi kebutuhan di berbagai bidang kehidupan, diantaranya pembuatan branding maupun desain website. Dewasa ini, desain grafis telah menjadi bagian penting dari berbagai sektor kehidupan, terutama untuk mendukung sektor ekonomi dan pemasaran. Oleh karena itu, kemampuan dan keterampilan seni visual desain grafis sangat diperlukan. Hal ini menjadi peluang untuk membekali pemuda dengan kemampuan desain grafis. Hasil survey yang dilakukan tim pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa remaja desa Kalikejambon memiliki minat yang tinggi terhadap seni desain grafis. Sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya nyata guna membekali remaja desa Kalikejambon dengan kemampuan desain grafis. Oleh karena itu dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan desain grafis memanfaatkan aplikasi Canva untuk meningkatkan kreativitas remaja desa Kalikejambon. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa ceramah pemberian materi secara langsung oleh narasumber kepada mitra. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan ini, diketahui pelatihan dan pendampingan ini efektif meningkatkan kemampuan desain grafis peserta. Pelatihan dan pendampingan ini juga menumbuhkan motivasi remaja desa Kalikejambon dalam melakukan seni visual desain grafis. Hasil positif ini sejalan dengan beberapa kegiatan penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan dan pendampingan memberikan dampak positif terhadap pengetahuan dan keterampilan desain grafis. Selain itu, kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan juga meningkatkan motivasi peserta kegiatan dalam berkaranya melalui media desain grafis.

Abstract

Scientific writing is a familiar academic activities to students of higher education. Since the beginning of their academic life in higher education, students have been faced with various tasks that involve scientific writing as reports. In addition, writing scientific papers is one of requirements for students in order to obtain academic degree in higher education. However, some evidenc and results of several previous studies show that students' writing skills are still low. Even though there have been supporting courses to support students in compiling scientific papers, many students consider writing scientific papers as a tough task. Therefore, it is needed for training activities to improve students' knowledge and abilities in writing scientific papers. This scientific writing training is part of service activity. The training was carried out in five meetings, they were 1) providing material on scientific writings and writing methods, 2) selecting ideas and titles of works, writing backgrounds, reviewing literature and writing references, 3) writing research methods, 4) writing results and discussions, and closing, 5) review and finalization of the works. The results of this training activity shows that students' interest in writing scientific papers is quite high. However, students' initial knowledge about scientific writing and writing methods is still low. Therefore, this scientific writing training activity is necessary. The posttest results shows that 90% of the participants experiences an increase in their writing knowledge and skills. These results indicate that this training activity is effective in helping students improve their knowledge and ability to write scientific papers.
