Abstract

This study examines the impact of predatory pricing on TikTok Shop and its consequences for the sustainability of local businesses in Indonesia from an Islamic economic perspective. As Indonesia’s digital economy rapidly expands, the integration of e-commerce within social media platforms, such as TikTok Shop, has transformed market dynamics. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing semi-structured interviews with local business owners and a comprehensive document review of scholarly articles and official reports. The study investigates how TikTok Shop’s aggressive price undercutting disrupts fair competition and threatens the viability of small businesses. Findings indicate that predatory pricing practices significantly disadvantage smaller enterprises, reducing competition and increasing the risk of business closures. Such practices contradict Islamic economic principles, which emphasize fairness, ethical conduct, and social justice in market transactions. The study underscores the critical role of government regulation in ensuring ethical market practices and enforcing fair competition laws. By highlighting the detrimental effects of predatory pricing in social media commerce, this research advocates for stricter regulatory frameworks, aligned with Islamic economic principles, to safeguard local businesses and promote a just and sustainable economic environment. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders, contributing to the broader discourse on ethical business practices in the digital economy.

Abstract

The Tawhidi String Relation (TSR) technique is being used in this descriptive qualitative study. This approach uses a shuratic process (interaction, integration, and evolutionary process) to analyze data based on actual field observations. The author of this study examines the role that creativity and innovation programs play in helping the Gosari Gresik community achieve its Villages's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The concept of Islamic Development Economics, which derives from Tawhid philosophy, is the foundation of the analytical instrument that was created. The findings of the study indicate that the dialogue and agreement between the primary institutions for village development, such as the village administration and community and religious leaders, in addressing issues in the village is what causes the process of interaction and integration to occur. The development and execution of creativity and innovation programs in Gosari village heavily relies on these community actors. The six elements of maqashid sharia”hifdz ad-diin, hifdz al-'aql, hifdz an-nafs, hifdz an-nasl, hifdz al-maal, and hifdz al-bi'ah”are all met by the participatory development process, each of which is connected to the others. Then, as the evolutionary process progresses, people's perspectives gradually alter and village labor programs get better as time goes on.

Abstract

The New Order era (1966–1998) marks a pivotal period in Indonesia's political and economic history. This study examines the influence of Islamic political economy on the evolution of Islamic economy during this time, using a literature review to explore how political dynamics and economic policies shaped its development. The findings reveal that Islamic political economy faced significant challenges due to the New Order government's focus on capitalist and industrial-oriented policies, which often marginalized sharia-based economic systems. For instance, the Islamic banking sector struggled to expand as regulations were more favorable to conventional banks. Despite these obstacles, intellectual groups and scholars sought to integrate Islamic principles into national policies, with the establishment of Islamic financial institutions like Bank Muamalat Indonesia in 1991 serving as a milestone. By the end of the New Order era, there was a noticeable increase in public interest and awareness of Islamic economy, driven by political shifts and a growing desire for a fairer, Islamic-aligned economic system. Consequently, Islamic economics began to gain wider recognition, eventually becoming an integral part of the national economic framework.

Abstract

In the growing global economy, establishing a robust banking sector has become an essential concern for governments worldwide. Nigeria, like many other nations, has witnessed successive governments implementing economic reforms to navigate the challenges of the global market. Given the indispensable role of the financial sector, particularly banking industry, numerous reforms have been legislated over the past three decades. This paper examines these banking reforms and their profound impacts on the Nigerian economy. The primary objective of this study is to consolidate and synthesize the findings of previous empirical research regarding banking reforms and their effects on Nigeria's economy, as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This paper employed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). The analysis reveals that the banking reforms undertaken by successive Nigerian governments have significantly influenced the nation's economic growth. However, the persistent issue of high interest rates poses a deterrent to investors seeking loans and advances. Consequently, the study advocates for a strategic shift in lending practices within the real sector towards Islamic banks, where loans are structured based on profit and loss sharing rather than conventional interest-based mechanisms. Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the need for future banking reforms to address recurring inflationary pressures and foreign exchange market volatility in Nigeria.

Abstract

AbstractA country is said to be successful and successfully represented through a high rate of economic growth, it can be achieved by one of them is through export and import activities. As Islam views the economy by looking at the practices that have been carried out by the Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions who have conducted cross-country trade in the Arabian Peninsula, the border areas of Yemen, Bahrain, Syria and others. The problem arises that export activities are lower than imports, causing the trade balance to be negative, the exchange rate and people’s purchasing power to decline so that it can affect economic growth. Economic growth cannot be far from economic development, because economic development encourages economic growth, and conversely economic growth will facilitate the process of economic development. This article discusses the role of international trade for Indonesia’s economic growth from an Islamic perspective using the literature review method. It can be seen that Indonesia’s economy has improved in 2022. This can be seen from the increase in export and import activities that are being carried out by Indonesia and the increase in national income as indicated by the value of GDP obtained by Indonesia. Exports carried out by Indonesia are one of the steps to increase the country’s national income, thus the economy can grow and improve in the future.

Abstract

Pendekatan kuantitatif melibatkan penggunaan Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA).
