Abstract

The article research aims to find out the students' mathematical problem solving ability of MTs in West Bandung Regency with indicator of students' mathematical problem solving ability that used are identifying known data, asked data, the adequacy of the data to problem solving, identifying strategy that can be pursued, completing mathematical model is accompanied by reason, checking the truth of the solution that is obtained. This research was conducted to the 32 students in one of MTs in Kertamukti village, West Bandung Regency by using qualitative descriptive method. An instrument that is used in the form of 5 items question about problem solving ability on the material "Pola Bilangan" accompanied with interview to students. The conclusion of this research was the students' mathematical problem solving ability in the schools of MTs were still low.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of competitive approaches to students' mathematical connection skills in one of the junior high schools in the city of Cimahi. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects in this study were class VIII students in one junior high school in the city of Cimahi as many as 26 students, this study used a class action approach (PTK) with data collection techniques carried out namely tests and non-tests. Tests are questions that are in accordance with mathematical connection skills with 4 ability indicators and non-tests are interviews with students with high, medium and low abilities. The results of learning research using a scientific approach by performing pretest and posttest can affect the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students with an average percentage of 83%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze students' mathematical connection skills where this study uses the Model-Eliciting Acivities (MEAs) approach with material systems of two-variable linear equations (SPLDV). this study uses a classroom action research (PTK) approach which consists of four stages, namely 1) planning. 2) implementation / action, 3) observation / observation and 4) reflection. With subjects of class VIII as many as 21 students. The technique used is data collection in the form of test questions, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique used is by presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the research are based on the results of the students' pretest and posttest where the pretest before the students get the action and posttest after the students get the action, where from the results students get the action using the MEAs approach better than before using the action.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to analyze the percentage of mathematical connection abilities in solving questions of One Variable Linear Equations and Inequalities which are seen based on indicators. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students of SMP in one of the cities of Cimahi which consisted of 22 students. The instrument used is a description test in the form of pretest and posttest conducted before the first cycle and after the second cycle. Students 'mathematical connection ability is seen based on the indicators on the pretest and posttest there are differences so that it can be said that students' mathematical connection skills are better than their previous abilities. The highest mathematical connection ability of students in the pretest test is found in the first indicator, namely using the relationship between mathematical topics with a percentage of 74% while the high indicator of posttest tests on indicator three is using Mathematics in everyday life with a percentage of 81%. There is also the lowest connection ability at the pretest found in the fourth indicator, which is to understand the equivalent representation of the same concept with a percentage of 5% while the low posttest indicator on the second indicator is using mathematics in other subjects with a percentage of 47%. So that the mathematical connection ability can be said to be better than before in solving equation problems and one variable linear inequality.

Abstract

The onjectives of this research are to know and analise mathematics problem solving student ability on Senior High School in Kabupaten Bandung Barat toward SPLKDV materials. The methode of this research are descriptive qualitative. This reserch conducted on 22nd November 2018 in the one of Senior High School in Kabupaten Bandung Barat with the sampel 27 students. Mathematic problem solving ability on Senior High School in Kabupaten Bandung Barat tough SPLKDV materials is 50,92% or middle category.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students errors in solving the problems of students mathematical connection ability and the extent to which students make these mistakes and to determine the level of connection ability that students have. The method used in this study is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The samples in this study were as many as 22 students in one MTs in Cimahi City, the results obtained were that the lowest percentage was obtained in the indicator identifying the relationship of one procedure to another procedure in an equivalent representation of 67.04%. Then the error made by the students are not thorough in understanding the questions given and not identifying the known elements and concepts that are contained so that the completion process given is not appropriate other than that the calculation process is done incorrectly, especially those that include calculating the algebraic form.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student errors in solving the problems of mathematical understanding ability. This study uses a descriptive method with qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were 28 students of class X in one of the MA in Bandung Barat Regency. This study obtained results, namely the lowest percentage found in question number 2 with instrumental understanding as much 48.33% and in question number 4 with a relational understanding as much 47.86%. Based on the mistakes made by students, the students' abilities in instrumental understanding and relational understanding are still relatively low, as seen from the many mistakes made by students in solving the test questions of mathematical understanding ability.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe an increase in reasoning and student learning outcomes in mathematics learning with problem solving learning. This research is a class research or Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects who acted were students of Class XI of Jabir Al-Hayyan Vocational School, amounting to 30 students, while the object of the research was mathematical reasoning and student learning outcomes. Methods of collecting data through observation, testing, documentation, and field notes. Data analysis techniques in descriptive qualitative flow models. Data validity using triangulation technique is source triangulation and method. Based on these results, it was obtained: 1) Improving students' mathematical reasoning can be seen from increasing indicators which include, among others: a) The ability to think logically before the action by 30%, increase to 63.33% in cycle 1 and cycle 2 increases to 76.67%, b) The ability to think critically before the action was 26.67%, increased to 56.67% in the first cycle, and the second cycle increased to 70%, c) The ability to draw conclusions before the action by 20%, increased to 46.67% in the first cycle and the second cycle increased to 63.33%, 2) improving students' mathematics learning outcomes which can be seen from the results of written tests that met the value of ≥ 75 before the action by 43.33%, increasing to 63 , 33% in cycle 1 and cycle 2 increases to 80%. This study concludes that learning problem solving when learning mathematics can improve students' reasoning and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mathematical problem solving abilities of high school students based on the stage of understanding the problem, planning strategies, solving problems, and checking the answers obtained. The subjects of this study were students of class X MIA force 2018/2019 at the Sumur Bandung High School in 22 Bandung Barat regencies. The research used is qualitative descriptive method. The results of students are then analyzed based on the steps that are done. Based on the results of the analysis of students' mathematical problem solving abilities are still very low, especially at the stage of checking the answers obtained. Of the 22 students only 6 people were able to solve the questions properly and correctly, or 26.52% of the total students who took the test. So that it can be stated that the mathematical problem solving abilities of class X MIA students at Sumur Bandung High School are of low qualification, so the need for improvement and improvement efforts.

Abstract

Problem solving ability is an important mathematical ability for students to solve existing problems. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the story problems of three-variable linear equation systems. This research was conducted in class X in one of the Alliyah Madrasas in Cianjur. The approach used is a problem based learning approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The instrument consists of 6 pieces of problem solving story problems. The test done by students is given a score and in the analysis of errors in answering the questions. The results of the study show that of the 40 class X students only 4 students can complete the conclusion, 13 students complete the process skills, 24 students complete the transformation phase and 32 students can complete the problem understanding stage. In terms of problem solving abilities in class X in one of the Alliyah Madrasas in Cianjur is still weak.
