Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi pada rendahnya kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SDN Gugus I Kecamatan Payakumbuh Barat. Sementara itu, kemampuan representasi matematis memiliki peranan penting dalam membantu siswa memecahkan masalah matematis. Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan representasi yang baik maka akan baik pula dalam memecahkan masalah matematis. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menerapkan pendekatan open ended. Penelitian ini juga melihat apakah gender berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN Gugus I Kecamatan Payakumbuh Barat. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas Va dan Vb SDN 28 Payakumbuh kecamatan Payakumbuh Barat. Data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil tes. Analisis data menggunakan uji anova dua arah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan pendekatan open ended lebih baik dari yang menggunakan pendekatan konvensional. 2) Kemampuan representasi matematis siswa laki-laki tidak lebih baik dari siswa perempuan. 3) Tidak terdapat interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan gender dalam mempengaruhi kemampuan representasi matematis siswa sekolah dasar

Abstract

This research is motivated by students who have difficulty understanding learning concepts because the material discussed requires high memory, knowledge, and understanding skills, resulting in low learning motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of the CLIS learning model on student motivation and learning outcomes. The research method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of 24 students in the experimental class and 24 students in the control class. Data collection was carried out through a learning motivation questionnaire and student achievement tests. Data were analyzed by calculating the scores obtained from each aspect of the questionnaire and hypothesis testing (t-test). The results of the study showed that first, there was an effect of CLIS on student learning motivation. Second, there was an effect of the CLIS model on student learning outcomes. Third, there was a high relationship between learning motivation and student learning outcomes. This study shows that the application of the CLIS learning model has a positive impact on student motivation and learning outcomes. The implications of these findings are very significant in the context of education, especially at the elementary level.

Abstract

This class action aims at improving the skill of students in writing narrative texts by using the writing process for the 4 grade students of SDN 08 Air PuraPesisirSelatan.the subjects of the research consisted of twenty two 4 grade student of the school. The research result show that there is some improvement. The score of the teacher’s aspect increased from 75% in cycle I to 91% in cycle II. Meanwhile, the score of the student’s aspect increased from 70% to 88% in cycle II. The student’s skill also improved. First, their score in the pre-writing activity increased from 77.68 in cycle I to 88.63 in cycle II.third, the score increased in the post-writing activity from 74,64 in cycle I to 88.63 in cycle II third, the score increased in the post-writing activity from 74.64 in cycleI to 87.14 in cycle II. Thus, the writing process successfully improved the skill of the students in writing narrative texts.Keywords : Narrative writing Skill, the writing Process

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi POINT terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas IV SDN 10 Sungai Sapih tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV SDN 10 Sungai Sapih yang berjumlah 154 siswa dengan sampel kelas IVA dan IVB yang masing-masing terdiri dari 31 siswa. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan nonprobability sampling dengan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh strategi POINT terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa di kelas IV SDN 10 Sungai Sapih. Hal ini dibuktikan dari uji – t dengan taraf signifikan 5% diperoleh  (5,836) >  (2,000) sehingga Ha diterima. Kata kunci : strategi POINT, membaca, membaca pemahaman. THE EFFECTS OF APPLYING THE ‘PURPOSE, OVERVIEW, INTERPRET, NOTE, AND TEST’ STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT PRIMARY SCHOOLS AbstractThis research aims at finding out the effects of the POINT strategy toward students reading comprehension at Class IV of SDN 10 Sungai Sapih in the academic year of 2016/2017. This experimental research made all the students of Class IVA and IVB were chosen as the samples and each class consisted of 31 students. They were chosen by using the non-probability and purposive sampling techniques. The research result shows that there is an improvement of students’ reading comprehension due to the application of the POINT strategy. It is proven from the t-test with the significant level of 5%, tcount (5,836) >ttable(2.000). Thus, Ha is accepted. Keywords : the POINT Strategy, Reading, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

Reading is one of the most important language skills in the Elementary School since it is a tool to learn other subjects.  It is so because whatever you learn, you will need reading skills.  However, several researches show that Elementary school students’ reading competence were still low.  Therefore, the current research problem is addressed to answer the question: “Is there any impact of using cards to students’ reading skill at Elementary School?”  In line with the question, then, the study aims at investigating the impact of cards to first grade students’ reading skills in the Elementary School.  As a quasi experimental research, the datum was collected through reading test.  The reliability of instrument was tested through split method, while content validity was applied to the whole content.  With the t-test, the research shows that the use of Cards gave significant impact to students’ reading skill in the Elementary School.  Therefore, it is fair to suggest that teachers at Elementary school should use cards to teach students in early reading activity.Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v21i1.68
