Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop the interactive carpet media “Langkah Ceria” to improve gross motor skills of early childhood. The research was motivated by the low level of gross motor development among children aged 5–6 years at TK Negeri Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya Regency, where many children had not achieved the expected developmental standards. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research involved 75 children from five classes of Group B. Data were collected using a modified Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) instrument consisting of 15 indicators covering five domains: static balance, locomotor walking, locomotor jumping, manipulative coordination, and dynamic balance. The effectiveness of the developed media was tested using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The results show that the interactive carpet media is feasible and effective for learning activities. Expert validation from two material experts and one media expert yielded an average feasibility score of 91.3%, categorized as very feasible. The implementation results indicate an increase in the average gross motor score from 18.87 (41.9%) in the pretest to 29.29 (65.1%) in the posttest, with an average N-Gain score of 0.40 in the moderate category. These findings indicate that the “Langkah Ceria” interactive carpet can serve as an innovative and practical learning medium to support the development of gross motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Discipline learning in early childhood education institutions still faces several challenges, including overly instructive approaches, less engaging learning media, and limited child participation in establishing classroom rules. This study aimed to develop a magnetic-based classroom agreement board as an effective learning medium to foster positive discipline among young children through a participatory approach. This research employed the ADDIE development model, adapted into five stages. The research subjects were 15 children in Group B (aged 5–6 years) at TK Negeri Manonjaya, Tasikmalaya. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and expert validation, and were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The resulting product was a magnetic classroom agreement board consisting of a magnetic board as the main surface for attaching agreement cards, 15 circular agreement cards with concrete illustrations, and supporting materials including a header poster, guidebook, tutorial video, and blank templates. Theoretical validation indicated a “Very Feasible” category (92%), while empirical validation reached 93.3%. The effectiveness test showed a 61.7% improvement in children’s disciplinary behavior with an improvement score of 0.50 (effective category), accompanied by positive developmental shifts across all participants. These findings indicate that participatory-based media can serve as an effective, practical, and sustainable tool for fostering positive discipline in early childhood education.

Abstract

Child protection in formal early childhood education is rarely examined through the lens of regulatory coherence, even though safe provision depends on clear rules, procedures, and service coordination. This study analysed the coherence of the national legal and policy framework for child protection in formal ECE and interpreted its implications for service readiness. A qualitative policy analysis with directed document review was conducted on 22 sources published or adopted between 2005 and 2026. Data were extracted into an analytical matrix and coded against six service-readiness indicators. The review found a strong normative foundation and showed that the 2026 education regulations clarified prevention, reporting, complaint handling, referral, and institutional coordination, although workforce readiness and cross-service operational integration remained uneven. Child protection should therefore be positioned as a core component of quality assurance and governance in formal ECE.
