Abstract

Learning process that utilizes the environment as a source of learning enables the process of shaping students’ personality towards more positive atitudes, such as caring the environment, reducing pollution, and increasing students' abilities to be more creative, innovative, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. This study aims to develop learning media in the form of entrepreneurship- based booklet for shrimp waste management for high school students. This research is a development research using ADDIE model. Data obtained from questionnaires given to students and teachers. Small group trials were continued with large group trials performed on students in SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Tanjung Jabung Barat, and 1 biology teacher at each of these schools. Prior to the trial, product validation is done by material experts and media experts. In the small group trials at SMAN 1 and SMAN 2, the responses were 84% and 81% respectively, both are in the "very good" category. In the large group trial, the responses were 80% and 84% with was in the category of "good" and "very good". The perception of biology teachers in each school were 75% and 77% both were in the "good" category. The entrepreneurship-based shrimp waste management booklet is appropriate to be used as a learning medium on waste recycling materials for high schools.

Abstract

The process of scientific thinking and the level of intelligence AQ (Adversity Quotient) has an essential role in solving various biological problems. This study aims to determine the type of scientific thinking process of a climber student in problem-solving in biology. The subject of this research was a climber type student, obtained through the ARP test. The results of this study indicate that the subject can perform scientific thinking in solving biological problems. He employed four stages according to Polya problem solving including (1) understanding the problem, ranging from making inquiries about the object of empirical and limitations to identify the factors involved; (2) planning problem-solving, begins with formulating a framework to reason, then makes arguments that explain the relationship between the various factors interrelated, (3) implementing a problem-solving plan, which at this stage the subject measures as well as determines the planning phase of problem-solving, and (4) evaluating the results of problem-solving, starting to explain the reasons choosing an answer from the problem, summed up the results of problem-solving and reflect the success of problem-solving.

Abstract

The character of students, in general, is still not well developed. We need teaching material for LKPD (Student Worksheet) enriched with character values. This study aims to produce character-based LKPD adopted from quantum teaching and determine teachers' and students' feasibility and responses to the LKPD. This study uses the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages. LKPD was validated by the material validator three times with a final score of 56 and a response value of 87.5% (excellent category), while the media validator twice with a final score of 64 and a response value of 100% (excellent category). Furthermore, two teachers carried out practitioner validation with an average score of 80.5 and a response value of 87.5% (the product is feasible to be tested and applied in learning). One-on-one trials with three students as the subject got a score of 166 and a response value of 86.5% (excellent category). The small group trial with nine subjects scored 289, and the response value was 89.2% (excellent category). The study concludes that the LKPD based on quantum teaching can be used in class VII SMP learning.

Abstract

Bukit Duabelas National Park (TNBD) has become habitat for many kinds of flora and fauna as well as the area Orang Rimba’s odyssey. Orang Rimba have interacted with the environment for many years so that produce traditional knowledge about the use of animals that are consumed. The assessment of orang Rimba’s Local wisdom is very important to document their traditional knowledge which eroded by modernization and as an effort to preserve the animals consumed. This study aimed at investigating the species or animals for consumptions, describing orang rimba’s knowledge about wildlife utilization that can be consumd, hunting and how to treat animals that consumed. The study was conducted in a Orang Rimba community in TNBD Sarolangun that is used Snowball sampling to select the respondent. The data has been obtained by descriptive analysis. Techniques of data collection through in-depth interview, observation participative, documentation, and literature. These results indicate the Orang Rimba utilized 65 species of wild animals for consumptions, it consists; 13 species of mammals, 13 species of reptiles, 1 spesies of amphibian, 11 species of brids, 21 species of pisces, and 6 species of invertebrates. Orang Rimba have knowledge in utilizing animal consumption derived from ancestors and experience. This community utilizing animal protein needs through hunting activities. They combine hunting techniques with the equipment used to obtain hunted. The ravin processed in a simple way as boiled, baked, and disalay (smoked). moreover, This study suggested further necessary documentation regarding the use of animals that are consumed by the Orang Rimba in a different location and identification of animal species consumed. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal operasi aljabar berdasarkan taksonomi SOLO. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini siswa dikelompokkan berdasarkan level taksonomi SOLO, yaitu prastruktural, unistruktural, multistruktural, relasional dan extended-abstract, lalu setiap siswa dianalisis kesalahannya. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Dharma Bhakti 3 Jambi. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa soal operasi aljabar dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa pada setiap level melakukan kesalahan yang berbeda-beda diantaranya: siswa level prastruktural melakukan kesalahan yaitu: menggunakan proses pemecahan yang tidak benar, tidak mengerjakan soal yang diberikan, tidak memahami apa yang ada pada soal, tidak dapat menghubungkan konsep-konsep, siswa level unistruktural melakukan kesalahan yaitu: belum bisa menghubungkan apa yang telah diketahui, menghubungkan satu konsep namun tidak bisa menyelesaikannya, siswa pada level multistruktural melakukan kesalahan: tidak bisa melanjutkan jawaban yang telah dimulai , menghubungkan beberapa konsep namun tidak bisa menyelesaikannya, dan siswa pada level relasional melakukan kesalahan yaitu: salah dalam proses penghitungan yang dilakukan

Abstract

The improper uses of peatlands degrade the lands, making them vulnerable to fire. Restoration and conservation of Indonesian peatlands have not succeeded, yet the forest fires tend to increase in severity and frequency. Therefore, it is urgent to have more systematic efforts to conserve the peatlands through education, mainly in schools. This study aims to assess the knowledge and perceptions of high school biology teachers about the peatland ecosystem and identify the potential for integrating peatland-associated materials in learning biology. Data and information were collected through observation, online questionnaires, literature reviews, and focus group discussions. The data were analyzed qualitatively to reveal the biology teacher's knowledge and perceptions about peatlands. Although peatland is a vital resource on the east coast of Jambi Province, most biology teachers in the region do not have good knowledge about peatland. However, the teachers aware of the importance of integrating peatland material in learning biology. They argue that the integration facilitates students to understand the surrounding environment, including the peatland.  Therefore, in the long run, they could actively involve in protecting and conserving the peatland. This research has identified several peatlands-associated materials that are relevant to be integrated into biology learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan media pembelajaran berupa video mengenai mangrove yang dapat digunakan oleh siswa SMA serta masyarakat, khususnya yang tinggal di kawasan pesisir. Pengembangan media dilakukan menggunakan model ADDIE. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar validasi untuk ahli materi dan ahli media, serta angket yang diberikan kepada siswa dan masyarakat. Ujicoba produk dilakukan pada 12 siswa di SMAN 6 Tanjung Jabung Timur Provinsi Jambi serta 9 kelompok masyarakat di Desa Sungai Itik, Kecamatan Sadu, Tanjung Jabung Timur. Hasil validasi produk oleh ahli materi diperoleh penilaian sebesar 85% (kategori sangat layak) dan hasil validasi produk oleh ahli media diperoleh nilai sebesar 80% (kategori layak). Ujicoba pada siswa SMA menunjukkan adanya tanggapan yang sangat baik (85,4%) terhadap video yang dihasilkan. Demikian pula halnya dengan ujicoba pada kelompok masyarakat yang memberikan nilai 84,8% (kategori sangat baik). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, video mengenai mangrove layak dan baik digunakan dalam membelajarkan mengenai mangrove, baik dari segi kualitas materi maupun media. Video pembelajaran mengenai mangrove dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran untuk menjangkau lapisan masyarakat yang lebih luas.The development of mangrove video instructional media for high school students and societies in the coastal areas of Jambi. This study aims to produce video learning media about mangrove. The media development used the ADDIE model. Data in this research include qualitative and quantitative data, collected by means of research instruments in the form of validation sheets for material and media expert. In addition questionnaires were filled in by students  of SMAN 6 East Tanjung Jabung as well as 9 community groups in the Sungai Itik Village, East Tanjung Jabung to assess the feasibility of the media. Video validation by material expert obtained value of 85% (very good category) , where as validation by media expert indicate value of 80% (good category). Students' responses to the videos are categorized as excellent (85,4%). Product trial with the community of Sungai Itik obtained public response of 84,8% (very good category). Based on the results obtained from the expert team, as well as responses from students and the community, the mangrove learning video is considered feasible in terms of both material and the media quality. The video can be used as a learning medium for mangrove learning either for students or for community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan soal HOTS berbasis budaya Jambi pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar kelas VIII yang baik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design research tipe development study. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan (preliminary) yang terdiri dari analisis dan desain, serta tahap pengembangan (prototyping) yang terdiri dari Expert Review, one to one, Small Group dan Field Test. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi, walkthrough, angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian berupa seperangkat soal HOTS berbasis budaya Jambi yang valid, praktis dan memiliki efek potensial sebanyak 10 butir soal. Valid dari segi konten, konstruk dan bahasa berdasarkan penilaian validator, praktis berdasarkan uji coba dan angket pada Small Group dan memiliki efek potensial berdasarkan analisis hasil jawaban siswa pada Field Test.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika kontekstual berdasarkan Newman Error Analysis ditinjau dari gender. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam menentukan subjek penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 6 orang, masing-masing terdiri atas 2 orang siswa ketegori kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes dan wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian mengenai kesalahan yang dilakukan pada subjek laki-laki dan perempuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika kontekstual, siswa laki-laki dan perempuan melakukan kesalahan yang sama. Berupa kesalahan memahami yaitu tidak menuliskan apa yang diketahui dan ditanya pada soal, kesalahan transformasi yaitu salah dalam menentukan metode yang tepat dalam menyelesaikan soal, kesalahan keterampilan proses yaitu salah dalam melakukan perhitungan dalam menyelesaikan soal dan kesalahan sebelumnya, dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban akhir yaitu tidak menuliskan kesimpulan jawaban akhir dan menuliskan jawaban akhir tetapi tidak tepat. Faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika kontekstual juga cenderung sama. Berupa tidak memahami masalah dalam soal, tidak memahami materi, kurang teliti/ceroboh, dan kesalahan tahap sebelumnya. Hanya saja yang membedakan siswa perempuan memenuhi faktor tidak terbiasa menuliskan apa yang diketahui dan ditanya pada soal sedangkan siswa laki-laki tidak tidak memenuhi faktor tersebut.

Abstract

Literasi merupakan keterampilan dalam mengolah kata, angka dan informasi yang diperoleh melalui kegiatan membaca dan menulis. Kegiatan literasi menjadi salah satu kegiatan yang menunjang peningkatan mutu pendidikan. Penguasaan literasi yang baik tidak hanya dibutuhkan oleh siswa, tetapi juga perlu dimiliki oleh guru agar mampu mengembangkan materi pembelajaran yang baik sekaligus mendukung pengembangan karir profesionalnya. Untuk itu dilakukan penelitian mengenai literasi menulis ilmiah guru-guru IPA di Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Penelitian dilakukan melalui observasi, diskusi terfokus dan angket yang dibagikan secara online. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru masih memiliki kesulitan dalam menulis ilmiah. Sebanyak 47% guru diketahui belum pernah menulis ilmiah. Rendahnya literasi guru juga sejalan dengan rendahnya aktivitas membaca yang jarang dilakukan. Hanya 6% guru yang secara rutin melakukan kegiatan membaca setiap harinya. Kesulitan guru dalam menulis ilmiah salah satunya disebabkan karena rendahnya tingkat literasi guru.
