Abstract

The Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is one of the methods to perform cervical cancer test by applying acetic acid. The huge number of cervical cancer cases in Indonesia has worsened because more than 80% of the cases that have been brought to hospitals were already in an advanced stage. The aim of the research is to analyse the variable influence: projection, self efficacy and intention toward the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA test. The research design was cross sectional. The population were women of childbearing age in Pematangsiantar and the samples size were 245 respondents selected by multistage random sampling. The variables were projection, self efficacy intention and decision. The statistical analysis was Structural Equation Modelling. The results of the study were: 1) self efficacy affects intention (p= 0.000), 2) projection affects intention (p= 0.000), 3) intention affects decision (p= 0.000). The models of projection, self efficacy and intention take effect on the decision to perform early detection of cervical cancer with the VIA. Abstract

The increasing number of patients with schizophrenia in the community requires positive support from all parties so that they can be more productive and independent. Stigma and discrimination that are still prevalent become the biggest obstacles to the community coping strategies in responding to the presence of patients with schizophrenia. This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence the coping strategies of people living side by side with patients with schizophrenia. This study used an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was the people who live around patients with schizophrenia in the working area of Bantur Community Health Center, Malang Regency, East Java. There were 138 respondents selected based on the multi-stage random sampling technique. The predictor variables examined were problem appraisal (X1), social capital (X2), and social support (X3). Data were analyzed using logistic regression tests. The results of the study indicate that the fac-tor that influences community coping strategies is social capital (X2). The resulting regression equation is Y = 5.627 + 0.733X1 + 1.739X2 - 0.021X3. Therefore, it can be concluded that social capital is a predictor that in-fluences community coping strategies. It is therefore recommended that the community could strengthen their social capital to help the recovery of patients with schizophrenia.

Abstract

ARFID phenomena commonly found on children are strongly dependent on parental behaviors. A dependency behavior shown by parents constitutes a specific behavior that helps the parents fulfill children’s needs. This kind of behavior will define a parental management ability in dealing with eating disorder phenomena on their children. This research, therefore, was set to analyze parental dependency behavior on parental management ability in dealing with eating disorder phenomena. A cross-sectional design was occupied to accommodate the research. A total of 245 families were selected to be the respondents, especially those who were taking care of children with ARFID. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaire. For descriptive data analysis, Manne-Whitney U test, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis, correlation product moment, and multiple linear regression were employed. Parental dependency behavior was closely related to parental management ability in dealing with eating disorder phenomena, especially in taking care of children with ARFID (r = 0.354; p = 0.000 < 0.05). This dependency behavior encompassed parents calming children down (with p = 0.000 < 0.05), giving hug to children (p = 0.000 < 0.05), listening to children (p = 0.001 < 0.05), solving children’s problems (p = 0.000 < 0.05) and fulfilling needs of food and drink (p = 0.000 < 0.05). On top of that, parental management ability in dealing with eating disorder occurrence was perceived referring to the result of multiple linear regression analysis, which was said to be mainly influenced by a predictor of parental dependency behavior in solving children’s problems (with β = 0.211; p = 0.001) and fulfilling children’s needs of food and drink (with β = 0.134; p = 0.047).Parental management ability in dealing with eating disorder was necessarily influenced by parental dependency behavior in solving children’s problems and fulfilling children’s needs of food and drink. Therefore, we suggest that nursing intervention be provided in respect of this case upon the population of families taking care of children with ARFID.
