Abstract

This study aims to see how student life skills, especially in vocational skills, after using the integrated CEP PjBL learning model. This study uses an associative method with a quantitative approach. Taking population and samples using total random sampling with the population is also the sample used in the study. Collecting data using instruments including, the CEP integrated project-based LKPD which is used as a practical guide as well as a reference in practicum supervision, the model implementation observation sheet to see the implementation of learning carried out to teach students, the life skills observation sheet used in direct life skills assessment when Available learning, as well as the responsibility of the student questionnaire used to measure students' life skills in learning using the CEP integrated PjBL model. The results showed that learning using the CEP integrated PjBL model was proven to be able to help students develop life skills in the aspect of vocational skills so that students had entrepreneurship. This can be seen from the proportion of students' vocational proficiency, namely 74.89%, where the competitiveness of students in sales and the work ethic possessed by students can be categorized as very good, namely 80.27% and 82.45%. The generic life skills of the students were classified as good with the proportion of 77.18% and the specific life skills of the students were classified as good with the proportion of 73.94%.

Abstract

Chisocheton is a large source of limonoids with various pharmacological effects, such as antiviral, antibacterial, antimalarial, antifungal, and cytotoxic activities. This study aimed to isolate, elucidate, and evaluate the cytotoxicity of limonoids from C. pentandrus stembarks. Isolation was carried out using various separation methods including extraction and column chromatography. Spectral data were analyzed by FT-IR, UV, DEPT 135°, 1H, 13C-NMR, and HRTOF-MS and compared with those previously reported to determine the chemical structure. The obtained limonoids were lasiocarpine (1), lasiocarpine B (2), pentandricine (3), and 16β-hydroxydysobinin (4); all of which were successfully isolated from C. pentandrus for the first time. The cytotoxic activity of these limonoids were also evaluated against Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF-7) breast cancer cells using PrestoBlue method. Lasiocarpine A revealed the strongest cytotoxicity with an IC50 of 42.62 µM in moderate level.

Abstract

Sesquiterpenoids belong to a group of terpenoid compounds with interesting structures that are abundant in natural products especially in higher plants. Sesquiterpenoids have a wide variety of bioactivities with great potential cytotoxic activity. The species Dysoxylum excelsum belongs to the Meliaceae family known as higher plant, but only a few sesquiterpenoids have been reported particularly for their cytotoxic activity. Therefore, this research aims to isolate and elucidate the sesquiterpenoids structure from D. excelsum stem bark and examines their cytotoxicity against HeLa cervical cancer cells. Through various column chromatography separations, four known sesquiterpenes namely β-caryophyllene oxide (1), caryophyllenol II (2), humulene dioxide A (3), and guai-6-en-10β-ol (4) were acquired from the n-hexane extract. Compounds 1-4 were isolated for the first time from D. excelsum species. The sesquiterpenoid structures were elucidated according to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Infrared, and HR-TOF-MS analysis. The cytotoxicity compounds 1-4 was determined against HeLa cervical cancer cells by examination with the PrestoBlue method and compound 3 exhibited the most potent cytotoxicity with an IC50 value of 160.74 µM. Keywords: cytotoxic activity, Dysoxylum excelsum, HeLa, Meliaceae, sesquiterpenoid.

Abstract

Research objectives: The objectives of this study are to introduce and improve teachers' ability in designing student argumentation assessment instruments in measuring students' level of understanding in learning. Ultimately, it will help students develop good and correct argumentation skills during the learning process. Methodology: The method used in this study is a quantitative method. In using this method, the researcher uses a research design in the form of a questionnaire. By combining this method and design, the research results will be obtained in the form of numbers. The subjects in this study were teachers at Mtss Al-Hidayah. Kebon IX. The results of this study will later become a reference for how this research is conducted and what conclusions can be obtained from the implementation of this research. Main Findings: In the research related to the implementation and application of argumentation instruments, it was found that more than 50% of teachers agreed to implement this argumentation ability instrument. It is seen that teachers strongly agree with the existence of argumentation ability instruments. Teachers are interested and also want to try the argumentation skills instrument. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study is rarely conducted and this study is also quite interesting. From the discussion session, there are still many teachers who do not know about the existence of this argumentation ability instrument. Abstract

A compound with the molecular formula C15H24O has been identified as Caryophyllenol-II through analysis using HR-TOF-MS, IR, and NMR spectroscopy. The ¹³C-NMR spectrum indicates that this compound is a bicyclic sesquiterpenoid, characterized mainly by the presence of a hydroxyl group replacing an epoxide ring and the addition of an olefinic bond. The relationship between the compounds analyzed from Cassia fistula L. and their antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalis can be explained through the identification of bioactive compounds with specific mechanisms to inhibit or kill the bacteria. Compounds from Cassia fistula L. have significant potential as an antibacterial agent against Enterococcus faecalis, particularly through membrane disruption and bacterial enzyme inhibition mechanisms. Further research on their role, either individually or in combination with other compounds, could support the development of C. fistula-based antiseptic products, such as mouthwash, for the prevention and treatment of oral and dental diseases. Additionally, this research explores the antibacterial potential of Cassia fistula L. in developing an antiseptic mouthwash. Extracts from Cassia fistula L. are known to contain active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins, which demonstrate effectiveness against Enterococcus faecalis, as a primary cause of dental and oral infections. The mouthwash formulation based on this extract was tested in vitro and proposed as a natural and safer alternative compared to synthetic chemical-based products for the prevention of dental and oral infections. This study indicates the significant potential of Cassia fistula L. in supporting oral health through effective antiseptic products. These findings support the use of traditional medicinal plants like Cassia fistula L. as a source of active compounds for the development of effective natural antiseptics and have the potential to reduce dependence on synthetic antiseptics while also promoting economic empowerment through simple industries.

Abstract

The ethyl acetate fraction separated from the stembark of Sonneratia caseolaris retrieved three phenolic compounds, including quercetin-3-O-glucoside (1), quercetin (2), and 1-O-(2,4-dihydroxybenzoyl)-β-D-glucopyranose (3). For the first time, compounds 1 and 3 were discovered from Sonneratia genus. Data from various spectroscopic techniques, including mass spectroscopy and one- and two-dimensional NMR, were used to identify their chemical structures. Antibacterial activity has also been assessed for all compounds against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25175 and Streptococcus mutans ATCC 6538. Compounds 1–3 displayed varying levels of antibacterial activity against S. aureus and S. mutans. However, all compounds exhibited lower efficacy compared to the control, with their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values ranging from 71.25 to greater than 100 µg/mL. This study provides a foundation for optimizing S. caseolaris phenolic compounds as antibacterial agents and highlights the need for comparative studies within the Sonneratia genus to identify potent bioactive candidates through structural modification or synergistic approaches.
