Abstract

Background: Animal-source foods (ASF) are a source of high-quality protein and bioavailable micronutrients such as iron and zinc, which are important for the growth of preschool children. However, despite high ASF intake, malnutrition in Jakarta is above the national prevalence. The types of ASF consumed may have contributed to this. Objective: This study aims to investigate the association between ASF intake and height-for-age Z-scores (HAZ) among preschool children aged 4–6 years in Jakarta.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes melitus (DM) is a metabolic diseases with medical conditions indicated by an increase in blood glucose levels exceeding normal that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Data on elderly morbidity in South Jakarta 2020 states that 12.78% of elderly population suffers from DM.Objective: To determine the risk factors for Body Mass Index (BMI) and other risk factors for the incidence of DM in the elderly at Puskesmas Pancoran in 2020-2021.Method: This study analyzed secondary data with cross sectional approach. Sample of this study was elderly patients who did checkups at the Pancoran Health Center, South Jakarta in 2020-2021, was taken using purposive sampling in total of 97 samples. Risk analysis using Mantel Haenszel test by looking at the odds ratio. Results: The results showed that age and gender were protective factors that could reduce the risk of 0.606 times (95% CI: .258 – 1.468) and 0.915 times (95% CI: 0.400 – 2.093) of the DM. Meanwhile, BMI and daily sugar consumption were significant risk factors for DM. BMI 2.6 times (95% CI: 1,089 - 6,417) more at risk of developing DM and the amount of sugar consumption per day >4 tablespoons 4.1 times (95% CI: 1,749 - 9,711) more at risk of developing DM.Conclusion: Body mass index ≥25 kg/m2 and total sugar consumption >4 tablespoons (>50 grams) a day are significant risk factors for diabetes mellitus in the elderly.

Abstract

Stunting is the result of malnutrition in the long term that causes intellectual impairment and linear growth (Waterlow, 1972). In Indonesia, around 37% or nearly 9 million children under five are stunted (Riskesdas 2013) and this is the 5th largest prevalence of stunting in the world. The Nutrition Status Monitoring (PSG) conducted by the Ministry of Health in 2016 found that 27.5% of children under five years (toddlers) and 21.7% of children under two years were stunted. This causes them to get sick easily, have a shorter body posture than toddlers their age, do not have adequate cognitive abilities, so that it is not only detrimental to individuals but also detrimental to long-term socio-economic conditions for Indonesia. Cadres have a fairly important task in the implementation of Posyandu activities. The duties of cadres carried out before Posyandu Opening Day include: 1) Preparing for the implementation of Posyandu activities, 2) Disseminating information about Posyandu opening days through local community meetings or circulars, 3) Dividing tasks between cadres, including registration, weighing, recording, counseling , providing additional food, as well as services that can be carried out by cadres. Given the importance of cadre duties, skilled cadres are needed in carrying out cadre duties, especially in carrying out early detection of stunting children. Therefore, community service activities were carried out with the topic "Toddler Restaurant as a Location for Nutrition Literacy for Mothers of Toddlers in Supporting Healthy Villages in Karanganyar Village, Neglasari District, Tangerang City". Community service activities are carried out by educating children on the following topics: 1. Literacy on weight growth of toddlers to achieve Healthy Toddlers, 2. Literacy of feeding children under five to support Healthy Toddlers, 3. Literacy of balanced nutrition to achieve healthy toddlers. 4. Toddler Family Nutrition Awareness Literacy to support Healthy families, 5. Posyandu system management to support Nutrition services for Toddlers. Assistance activities for Posyandu cadres have been carried out in Karanganyar Village, Neglasari District. The number of cadres involved in the training was 15 cadres
