Abstract

Fringe-scale sardine (Sardinella fimbriata) is one of the dominant species landed in Prigi fishing port. However, in recent years the sardine fishery management might deal with some overfishing indicators of this species . The purpose of this study was to determine the trend of catches, fluctuations in catch per unit effort (CPUE), and the pattern of the fringe-scale fishing season using catch-effort data of purse seine and gillnet landed at PPN Prigi in the period 2011-2020. The results showed that the catch fluctuated every year . CPUE has tended to increase over the last ten years but decreased in 2014 and 2020. The highest CPUE value occurred in 2019 which was 0,21kg/trip. The Peak fishing season occurs in December – March.

Abstract

Pangandaran Regency as a tourist area with a long coastline has enormous potential for marine tourism and fisheries. Unfortunately, this is followed by environmental pollution that occurs. Our program tries to offer the application of a circular economy to minimize this problem. This program uses a design thinking approach and involves fishermen from Bojong Salawe Village in counseling activities and discussions regarding the economic conditions of fishermen and the potential of natural resources that can be utilized for new sources of income. The results of the discussion provide information that fishermen in Bojong Salawe have economic problems during the lean season, so additional sources of income are needed other than fish catches. The application of the circular economy can be used to help fishermen increase their income given the fact that as many as 85% of fishermen are still in the productive age and as many as 53% of other fishermen still depend only on fish catches. In addition, information was obtained regarding the potential utilization of mangrove fruit of the type Rhizophora sp. to be reprocessed into a product to provide an opportunity for fishing families to earn new income.

Abstract

Handline fishing is a traditional fishing method widely used by small-scale fishers in Pulau Panggang, Kepulauan Seribu, due to its efficiency, selectivity, and environmentally friendly nature. This study aims to evaluate the species diversity and catch composition of handline fisheries in Pulau Panggang based on production data from 2021 to 2023. The analyzed data include catch volume, production value, and species composition. The results indicate that narrow-barred Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson) was the dominant species caught over the three-year period, comprising approximately 30–33% of the total catch, followed by frigate tuna, snapper, and emperor fish. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index revealed a moderate level of species diversity (ranging from 1.411 to 1.960), reflecting a relatively stable community structure. Catch volume and production value fluctuated over the study period, peaking in 2022 and declining in 2023. These findings highlight the importance of data-driven management and policies that account for seasonal variability and fishing pressure to ensure the sustainability of the handline fishery in the region. Abstract

Sukajaya Village, Pangandaran Regency, is still facing stunting. Various efforts have been made by the integrated health post, but many non-health factors also influence it, such as economic problems and residents who are trapped in pay-later debt. This condition continued until 2023 when 6 children were classified as stunted. This shows the need for other efforts outside of health materials to overcome this problem. The team surveyed the children of housewives in Sukajaya Village to measure their nutritional knowledge and the level of financial literacy of the local community. The results showed that knowledge of nutritional intake was quite good, but the level of financial literacy was still quite low. Based on these facts, the team designed a socialization activity for children's nutrition and basic financial literacy as well as the provision of complementary food assistance for children's nutritional intake which was carried out in Bulakgebang Hamlet. The activity was attended by around 35 mothers who were members of the integrated health post in Bulakgebang Hamlet. Participants now understand the importance of children's nutritional intake and the importance of having priorities in financial management.
