Abstract

Presidential Regulation (Perpres) number 38 of 2018 concerning the National Research Master Plan for 2017–2045, the Government of Indonesia establishes several main areas that will become national research priorities, one of which is the energy sector. In the research theme of electricity technology based on new and renewable low/zero carbon energy, there is the topic of research on commercial-scale Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) technology. On the research topic, it was determined that within the research period of 2020–2024, a prototype nuclear power plant would be produced. Research related to the geotechnical characterization of the nuclear power plant site using the seismic refraction method was carried out to complement the previous research data. The purpose of this study was to determine the subsurface rock layer profile for estimation of work related to nuclear power plant foundations. Geological mapping and geophysical data acquisition, processing, as well as soil/rock interpretation based on the compression wave velocity (Vp) parameter are carried out to achieve this goal. The results of geological mapping show that there are 2 igneous rock units, namely quartz diorite and andesite. The results of processing and interpreting seismic refraction data produced a cross-sectional model of Vp in the subsurface rock layers. There are 3 rock layers in the research location, namely soil layer (Vp = 361–715 m/s), weathered igneous rock layer (Vp = 1.386–2,396 m/s), and fresh igneous layer (Vp = 3.789–6.133 m/s). The estimated density of fresh igneous rock based on calculations is 2.43–2.74 g/cm3. The modeling results can show the depth and structure of the subsurface layer of fresh igneous rock that can be the foundation of nuclear power plants.

Abstract

The Mamuju area of West Sulawesi Province is composed of Adang volcanic rock that is a product of the process of volcanism in a volcanic complex with an eruption center and several lava domes. The geology of the study area is composed of eleven rock units, namely Adang breccia, Adang lava, lava dome, volcanic conglomerate, Ampalas breccia, Malunda breccia, Boteng lava, Tapalang breccia, limestone, reef limestone, and alluvium. The mineralization of uranium, thorium, and rare earth elements formed in Adang lava thorianite veins. Adang lava is intruded by a dioritoid found in the Mamuju river upstream. The gravity modeling technique has produced two 2-D subsurface models based on gravity data on 2-D cross-sections of the residual gravity map. It is known that the rock density range from 2.10 to 2.85 g/cm3 in the study area. Based on the interpretation of two 2-D subsurface models, a batholith, a giant-sized intrusive rock, is found in the southeastern part of the study area with a rock density of about 2.85 g/cm3 and is interpreted to be dioritoids. Furthermore, deep intrusion rocks also occur in the center part of the study area with a rock density of 2.8 g/cm3. It is estimated to be the same as the rock in the southeastern part of the study area. Dioritoid intrudes a volcanic breccia sedimentary rock with a density of about 2.1 g/cm3.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze passenger safety and security risks of pioneer ships operating at Sorong Port using a systemic perspective based on the Systemic Accident Model. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. The findings indicate that maritime safety risks are shaped by the interaction of three main factors: technical factors, including limited vessel seaworthiness and predominantly reactive maintenance practices; human factors, characterized by high workload, crew fatigue, and weak safety culture; and environmental factors, such as dynamic sea conditions and insufficient navigational aids at the port. These results demonstrate that the safety management of pioneer vessels at Sorong Port has not yet been optimally implemented. Therefore, enhancing maritime safety requires an integrated safety management system that encompasses fleet modernization, improvement of crew competence and safety awareness, and strengthening port infrastructure and safety oversight.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a gross premium model for endowment insurance products under a multiple life setting by incorporating various actual cost components and applying the Gompertz mortality distribution. The proposed model includes acquisition costs at the beginning and end of the first policy year, premium collection costs, and annual policy maintenance costs, all of which are calculated based on present values of benefits and annuities. Parameter estimation is conducted using linear regression with a bounded optimization approach, where all parameters are constrained to be strictly positive to reflect realistic conditions in insurance practice. The simulation results yield parameter estimates of  a1=0,97074,  a2=0,912217, β=Rp 19.344,46 and γ=Rp 20.105,23 which are considered actuarially reasonable. The high coefficient of determination, , R2=98,46%, indicates that the model has an excellent fit to the gross premium data. This research demonstrates that an actuarial-based cost formulation combined with statistical estimation can serve as an effective and transparent approach in determining premiums for endowment life insurance products with more than one insured.
