Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik tipologi fasad bangunan kolonial di Kota Blitar. Metode penelitian secara kualitatif-deskriptif dengan menganalisa setiap elemen arsitektural pada fasad bangunan melalu observasi langsung dan bantuan studi literatur. Kriteria pemilihan sampel sejumlah 6 bangunan mengacu pada undang-undang cagar budaya dan dipilih satu dari setiap fungsi bangunan yang terdapat pada Rencana Tata Ruang dan Wilayah Kota Blitar (stasiun, kantor, hotel, tempat peribadahan, tempat pendidikan, dan bangunan situs budaya). Hasil penelitian berupa karakteristik tipologi fasad bangunan kolonial berdasarkan elemen arsitektural, yaitu atap, dinding, pintu, jendela, ornamen, dan kolom. Keenam bangunan memiliki karakteristik bangunan kolonial sesuai dengan teori yang telah dikaji.This research aims to identify the typological characteristics of colonial building facades in Blitar City. The research method is qualitative-descriptive by analyzing each architectural element on the building facade through direct observation and literature study. The criteria for six samples refers to the cultural heritage law and selected from each building function found in the Blitar City’s Spatial and Regional Plan (railway station, office, hotel, place of worship, place of education, and cultural site building). The result of the research is the typological characteristics of colonial building facades based on the architecutal elements, such as roofs, walls, doors, windows, ornaments, and columns. All six buildings have colonial building characteristics in accordance with the theory that has been studied.

Abstract

Historic urban corridors possess diverse visual characteristics and distinctive features that cannot be captured through conventional photographic survey techniques or through 3D modeling per building. This study aims to develop a digital simulation workflow framework based on montage to reconstruct and evaluate the spatial characteristics of the historic corridor of Jalan Idjen in Malang, Indonesia, which is one of the important historical landscape heritages that is starting to undergo rapid commercial transformation. This research method integrates sequential photo mapping, panoramic photo montage, 3D modeling with low-polygon techniques, and the implementation of immersive rendering to represent the integration of visual sequences that create spatial continuity, façade rhythm, and mass proportions. The novelty of this research is to translate visual perception at the scale of urban corridors into a qualitative evaluation through immersive modeling as a research gap in the digital visual study of historic landscapes. The results of this study reveal that qualitative evaluations of visual quality, spatial legibility, and aesthetic coherence indicate that the uniformity of building height and setbacks and the presence of vegetation strengthen the identity of the historic corridor, while the presence of signage, color inconsistencies, and fragmentation of building masses create visual continuity disruptions. Furthermore, the development of this research workflow framework has proven to be efficient and easily replicable for diagnosing other corridor segments, in supporting the sensitivity of conservation policies and controlling the growth rate of the visual and spatial layout of historic urban corridors.

Abstract

Malang City is renowned for its rich local wisdom and well-preserved colonial-era heritage in East Java. Kampung Kayutangan is a settlement that exemplifies the cultural depth of the city and serves as a significant destination for heritage tourism. This study examines how spatial structures and local knowledge affect tourist experiences by incorporating space syntax analysis with axial and visibility graph analysis to forecast pedestrian movement by evaluating spatial connectivity and visibility, utilizing place-centered mapping results derived from field observations. The findings demonstrate that while syntactic indicators reveal spatial hierarchies and accessibility, visitors are often drawn to culturally meaningful locations, even if these sites possess lower visibility. The study underscores the importance of incorporating local knowledge and historical context into urban spatial planning. By linking analytical methods with grounded cultural insights, this research presents a framework for sustainable heritage management and design that honors the identity and memory of a place. Planning strategies should accommodate cultural assets by enhancing accessibility, signage, and amenities to culturally significant yet spatially disconnected areas and ensuring that local wisdom continues to inform and enrich contemporary urban development.
