Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnomathematics comic-based e-module by applying the ICARE model to improve students' mathematical representation skills. The ICARE model consists of the Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, and Extension stages. The research approach used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, which includes the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The subjects of the study were grade VIII students at a junior high school that had adopted the Merdeka Curriculum. Before being tested on a small scale, the e-module was first validated by experts in the field of materials and media to ensure its feasibility. The research instruments included a validation questionnaire, a test to measure mathematical representation skills, and a questionnaire used to collect student and teacher responses. The results of the study showed that the e-module developed met the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective in improving students' mathematical representation skills. Students responded positively to the e-module because the material presented was more interesting, based on local culture, and helped them understand the concept more deeply. Thus, the e-module based on ethnomathematics comics with the ICARE model can be an alternative innovative teaching material in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Computational thinking is one of the thinking skills needed in the 21st century. This research aims to describestudents' computational thinking skills in solving problems on polyhedrons in terms self-confidence. Individualself-confidence can influence students' way of thinking when solving problems. This research method uses aqualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and tests for 29 class VIIIstudents and interviews with 2 students for each category of high, medium, and low self-confidence. Thisresearch data analysis includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that students' computational thinking abilities in solving flat-sided geometricproblems with students with high self-confidence are able to achieve indicators of decomposition, patternrecognition, algorithmic thinking, generalization and abstraction. Students with moderate self-confidence areable to achieve indicators of decomposition, pattern recognition and generalization and abstraction, but are lesscapable in algorithmic thinking. Students with low self-confidence are less capable in decomposition indicatorsand have not been able to achieve indicators of pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking and generalization andabstraction.

Abstract

Women, especially housewives, are agents of change within their families and communities. Therefore, women's empowerment is crucial to supporting improved family well-being. One way to empower women is through providing them with skills to process leftover rice into delicious, nutritious, and economically valuable meals. This community service activity, conducted by a team of lecturers and students from Sultan Agung Islamic University, took the form of training. Participants were housewives and young women in the Genuk sub-district of Semarang City. The training, which utilizes leftover rice to create delicious and nutritious meals, has proven effective in increasing the knowledge, skills, and awareness of Family Welfare Movement (PKK) women regarding the importance of food waste management. This activity also opens up creative business opportunities based on household food and supports sustainable women's empowerment. Keywords: women's empowerment, skills training, processing leftover rice

Abstract

GeoGebra Classroom provides solutions for mathematics learners to design online mathematics lessons during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of Community Service (PKM) is to provide mathematics learners with skills to use the GeoGebra Classroom to optimize online mathematics learning. This PKM activity uses an educational approach; that is, this activity has an element of education that can dynamize society towards educational goals. The method used is in the form of online training on the use of GeoGebra Classroom in designing virtual finishes. The training results show that there are positive benefits for this training, teacher motivation to design virtual classes, and teacher activeness in completing independent exercises after the first training session. The main obstacle experienced by participants during online training is the poor signal quality which reduces the quality of sound and video during the training. The results of this training provide skills in designing online mathematics lessons using the GeoGebra Classroom.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy plays a vital role in daily life, particularly in identifying, reasoning, communicating, problem-solving, and representing mathematical ideas in real contexts. However, for students with intellectual disabilities, developing mathematical literacy remains a significant challenge. To address this issue, innovative scaffolding through interactive and visual media is required. This study aims to develop NEIMoL media assisted by Augmented Reality (AR) that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving mathematical literacy among students with intellectual disabilities. The research employed Plomp’s (1997) development model, which includes five stages: initial investigation, design, realization, testing and revision, and implementation. Data were collected through expert validation, observations, interviews, questionnaires, and mathematical literacy tests. Instruments included expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The validation results showed the media to be “Very Valid” with an average score of 4.1 (on a scale of 5). Practicality was rated positively, with a score of 3.7, and both teachers and students expressed favorable responses. Effectiveness was demonstrated through an N-Gain score of 0.7175, categorized as high improvement. These findings indicate that AR-assisted NEIMoL media is valid, practical, and effective in supporting the mathematical literacy of students with intellectual disabilities.
