Abstract

This study discusses the effectiveness of using Communicative Language Teaching in essay writing. The research method used experimental quantitative method. The design of research was a quasi-experimental research using a one group pretest-posttest model. Written test was an instrument that was applied in research to obtain research data. In analyzing the data, the steps taken consisted of 1) counting mean of pretest and posttest, 2) counting standard deviation of the pretest and posttest, 3) counting normality of the pretest and posttest, 4) counting the homogeneity of the pretest and posttest, and 5) testing the hypothesis. The result of the study shown that the using of Communicative Language Teaching was effective to be implemented in essay writing. This is proved by the value of tcount > ttable = 4.30> 1.70329. That means Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. In this case, all students are more enjoyable in learning essay writing in class and they are motivated to improve their skill especially in writing essay

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this study: 1) measure the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of e-learning teaching materials through Moodle, 2) measure the achievement of MBKM learning through e-learning teaching materials, 3) achieve the seventh main performance indicator in terms of creating collaborative and participatory classes. The method used in this study is the research and development method based on the 4-D model (Four D Model) which consists of four stages, namely the define stage, the design stage, the develop stage and the disseminate stage. . Data collection techniques were carried out by preparing teaching materials and validating teaching materials by five expert validators. The sampling method used was simple random sampling technique in semester 3 students of FKIP HKBP Nommensen University as many as 75 students and three lecturers as research subjects. Feasibility is reviewed from 3 aspects, namely: valid, effective and practical. With the validation results by the media validator, a score of 75.35% is included in the quite valid category. E-learning validation by the material validator obtains an average score of 87.25% which is in the very valid category. E-learning validation by the language validator obtained an average score of 78.40%, which is in the quite valid category. Moodle-assisted problem solving-based e-learning teaching materials are said to be effective in use which is obtained from the results of the percentage of students who complete reaching 78.80%. E-learning teaching materials based on Moodle-assisted problem solving are said to be practical to use which is obtained from the results of the average percentage score of the overall questionnaire 75.50% included in the practical criteria. Keywords: Teaching Materials; E-Learning; Moodles; MBKM; Problem Solving   Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini:1) mengukur kelayakan, kepraktiasan dan keefektivan bahan ajar e-learning melalui moodle, 2) mengukur ketercapaian pembelajaran MBKM melalui bahan ajar e-learning, 3) mencapai indikator kinerja utama ketujuh dalam hal menciptakan kelas yang kolaboratif dan partisipatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode research and development berbasis model 4-D (Four D Model) yang terdiri dari empat tahap, yakni tahap pendefinisian (define), tahap rancangan (design), tahap pengembangan (develop) dan tahap penyebaran (disseminate). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyiapkan bahan ajar dan memvalidasi bahan ajar oleh lima validator ahli. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah dengan tehnik simple random sampling pada mahasiswa semester 3 FKIP Universitas HKBP Nommensen sebanyak 75 siswa dan tiga orang dosen sebagai subjek penelitian. Kelayakan ditinjau dari 3 aspek yaitu: valid, efektif dan praktis. Dengan hasil validasi oleh validator media memperoleh skor 75,35 % masuk dalam kategori cukup valid. Validasi e-learning oleh validator materi memperoleh rerata skor 87,25 % masuk dalam kategori sangat valid. Validasi e-learning oleh validator bahasa diperoleh rerata skor 78,40 % masuk dalam kategori cukup valid. Bahan ajar e-learning berbasis problem solving berbantuan Moodle dikatakan efektif digunakan yang diperoleh dari hasil persentase siswa yang tuntas mencapai 78,80 %. Bahan ajar e-learning Berbasis problem solving berbantuan Moodle dikatakan praktis digunakan yang diperoleh dari hasil persentase rerata skor kuesioner keseluruhan 75,50 % masuk dalam kriteria praktis. Kata Kunci: Bahan Ajar; E-Learning; Moodle; MBKM; Problem Solving

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini memfokuskan pada Literasi, karena masih ada beberapa dari siswa tersebut masih minim dalam membaca dan menulis. Jadi dalam peneraparan literasi ini kami menerapkan media pembelajaran yaitu canva dan Pinterest Dalam hal ini perguruan tinggi melakukan berbagai kegiatan seperti, melakukan praktik kerja lapangan dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Metode penelitain yang dilakukan yaitu metode penelitian kusioner dimana tujuan pembuatan kusioner ini, untuk mendapatkan tanggapan dari responden,pengertian responden merupakan individu atau kelompok terpilih yang mengisih jawaban kusioner Berdasarkan kuesioner yang telah dibagikan dan diisi oleh siswa tentang penggunaan aplikasi pinterest dan canva untuk meningkatkan literasi pada siswa diperoleh data 95.7 % siswa sudah tahu cara menggunakan aplikasi pinterest dan 4.3% yang tidak tahu cara menggunakan aplikasi pinterest, 91.3% siswa menyatakan bahwa aplikasi pinterest membantu proses pembelajaran, 56.5% siswa tidak ada kesulitan menggunakan aplikasi pinterest saat proses pembelajaran, 56.5 % siswa pernah menggunakan aplikasi pinterest ab canva dalam kegiatan literasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana menganalisis maksim kesantunan berbahasa dalam Novel Semua Indah Pada Waktunya dan Implikasinya dalam pengembangan materi pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Dalam prisip kesantunan mengandung enam buah maksim yaitu Maksim Kebijaksanaan, Maksim Kedermawanan, Maksim Penghargaan, Maksim Kesedehanaan, Maksim Permufakatan, dan Maksim Simpati.Serta Implikasinya dalam pengembangan materi Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian adalah penelitian itu sendiri. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata atau teks tuturan dalam novel Semua Indah Pada Waktunya dan implikasi pada pengembangan materi Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Sumber data yang diambil dari Novel Semua Indah Pada Waktunya yaitu keseluruhan data yang terkumpul dalam Novel Semua Indah Pada Waktunya karya Eko Hartono yaitu 35 tuturan. Implikasi nya pada materi pembelajaran di jenjang SMP dan SMA.

Abstract

Skripsi ini tentang Pengaruh Penggunaan Aplikasi Memrise terhadap Penguasaan Pengucapan Siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 2 Girsang Sipangan Bolon. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh Aplikasi Memrise terhadap penguasaan pengucapan siswa di SMPN 2 Girsang Sipangan Bolon. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan kuantitatif experimental yang bersifat true experimental. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Girsang Sipangan Bolon dengan enam kelas, dan jumlah siswa seluruhnya (161). Sampel penelitian ini ada dua kelas yang dipilih dengan menggunakan random sampling. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok; kelompok pertama adalah 28 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Kelompok kedua adalah 28 siswa sebagai kelompok control. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes pengucapan dengan jumlah kata 20 buah. Tes di bagi menjadi dua; pre-test dan post-test. Data dianalisis menggunakan rumus t-test untuk melihat apakah aplikasi Memrise berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan pengucapan siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung (2,93) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (2,005) dengan tingkat signifikansi (0,05) dan derajat kebebasan (df) (54). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) penelitian diterima dan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak karena t- hitung > t-tabel = 2,93 > 2,005 . Aplikasi Memrise sangat membantu siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris karena banyak materi topik dan latihan yang sangat menantang sehingga siswa tidak bosan belajar bahasa Inggris. Disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi Memrise direkomendasikan dalam penguasaan pengucapan siswa kelas delapan SMP karena berada diatas KKM (70).

Abstract

Coherence is characterized by the use of supporting details arranged in such a way that the information intended to be conveyed, and the frequent use of time and sequences to convey supporting information can appear at once. This study explains how the fifth-semester students' mastery of the types of cohesion and coherence in writing recount texts and the difficulties faced by students. The data obtained came from students' writing tests in recount texts and interview tests. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. In this study, 20 fifth-semester students of English education study programs. Data analysis was found in the form of the number of each type of cohesion and coherence from the students' writing test and using the answers to the interview test. In the results of the writing test in writing recount text, the writer found 946 uses of cohesion and coherence devices, divided into 568 services of references (60.04%), 11 substitutions (1.16%), 8 ellipses (0.84%), 237 conjunction (25.05%), repetition of 47 (4.96%), then there are synonyms with 14 uses (1.47%), 1 antonym (0.10%), keywords repeated with as many as 21 uses (2.21%), 11 pronoun references (1.16%), 14 signs/transition words (1.47%), and logical ideas (1.47%). Based on student interview papers, 10 students faced problems. There are 3 votes for each type of grammatical cohesion, 2 for each type of lexical cohesion and 5 for each type of coherence, 2 for grammar, 1 for vocabulary, and 2 for constructing story ideas. Cohesion is a type of problem that students rarely complain about, while coherence is the type of problem most often complained about by students.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to find out the types of language variations as part of sociolinguistics. Here the focus of the study is language variation. This study used qualitative descriptive as approach and research design is an observation analysis. The source data were Ilu Na Maraburan movie script by Bonardo Sinaga taken from internet. This study based on Wardhaugh in all update theories. The research found that there were four types of language variations used in Ilu Na Maraburan movie by Bonardo Sinaga. From totally 41 sentences, idiolect is 9, dialecti is 13, chronolect is 8, and social dialect is 11. It shows that the movie mostly dominant used the Dialect with 13 the percentage (31,7%). (1) for the student of the English Department, this study can increase knowledge about language variations, especially for anyone who likes to watch movie. Understanding language variation is very important because there are many language variations contained in the movie. (2) For the lecturer who act as educators, this study will be useful to enrich their knowledge and added their knowledge about language variations and lecturer can teach language variation with the newest references. (3) For other researcher, this study is expected or even able to provide new refences when conducting research in different perspective.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the English skills that must be mastered by English learners. There are many ways to hone students' speaking skills in class VIII students of SMP Hosanna Medan for the 2022/2023 academic year. One way is to use Twin Cards media. This research aims to find out whether the twin card media affects the students' ability in speaking English, especially in class VIII SMP Hosanna Medan. Researcher used true experimental quantitative research, where researcher used two classes to study, namely the experimental class and the control class. The use of twin card media is only given to the experimental class, and the control class is taught without any method or treatment. From these research studies, researchers can find differences between the experimental class and the control class. It is known from the average value of the data presented that has been calculated in SPSS version 26 that the value of the experimental class increased from 50.62 in the pre-test to 75.23 in the post-test because after being given the treatment. Meanwhile, the pretest in the control class was 45.83 and the posttest score was 53.58 because the researchers did not treat it. The t value obtained from the post-test results between the experimental class and the control class is 6, 8248627972. This shows that the results of the t-score > t table (2,064) and the sig. (2 tailed) is 0.000 < 0,005. From the data presented, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using twin cards media on students' speaking abilities in class VIII students of SMP Hosanna Medan in the 2022/2023 Academic Year.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the use of reading strategy through Instagram media in improving students’ reading comprehension. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam. A Classroom Action Research was used as research design. The population of this research was students at VIII grade of the academic year 2022/2023 where the total of the entire population is 289 students. The sample of this research was students VIII2 grade which there are 31 students in total. By using critical reading and CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition) strategy. The finding showed that the use of critical reading and CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition) strategy which was assisted by Instagram media can improve the students’ reading comprehension. It based on the result of the students’ reading test in pre-test compared with the students’ reading test in cycle 1 and cycle 2. In pre-test, the students’ mean score is 59, post-test in cycle 1 the students’ mean score is 67.1, post-test in cycle 2 the students’ mean score is 73.8 where students' reading ability from pre-test to post-test improved 23.7% while the percentage students who pass KKM in post-test 2 is 74.19%. From the data gathered, it can be concluded that Critical reading and CIRC strategy assisted by Instagram media has a significant role to improve students’ reading comprehension

Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul Skripsi Film “I Can Only Imagine” Oleh Erwin Brothers. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis deiis dalam film I Can Only Imagine. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan pragmatik, yang menggunakan teori Levinson (2008) tentang deiksis. Dalam melengkapi analisisnya, peneliti menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif sebagai metode penelitian analisisnya. Data tuturan penulis yang mengandung deiksis dalam I hanya dapat membayangkan transkrip film sebagai sumber data dan kemudian diklasifikasikan ke dalam jenis deiksis. hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 3129 data dari saya hanya bisa membayangkan yang mengandung deixis, ada lima jenis deixix dalam penelitian ini, 2881 (92, 07℅) data menunjukkan deixis orang, 99 (3,04℅) data menunjukkan deiksis spasial, 69 (2,11℅) data menunjukkan deiksis temporal, 57 (1,72℅) data menunjukkan deiksis sosial, 23 (0,73℅) data menunjukkan deiksis wacana. Dalam studi ini deixis orang ditemukan sebagai tipe dominan dalam Saya hanya bisa membayangkan ucapan-ucapan film. Hal itu karena dalam film ini menceritakan tentang kisah Bart dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Peneliti berharap penelitian ini dapat bermanfaat untuk mempertajam peneliti lain dalam memahami deiksis dalam pragmatik khususnya tentang jenis-jenis deiksis dan diharapkan dapat memberikan referensi baru ketika melakukan penelitian dalam perspektif yang berbeda.
