Abstract

The will (al-irādah) is a fundamental element in Islamic educational psychology that functions as a driving force for behavior, learning motivation, and self-control among students. In the Islamic perspective, will is not merely understood as a psychological impulse, but as a spiritual potential integrated with reason and the heart in shaping human choices and moral responsibility. This study aims to analyze the function of the will in Islamic educational psychology and its relevance to students’ character formation. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method through library research by examining the Qur’an, Hadith, and relevant literature on psychology and Islamic education. The findings indicate that the will plays a strategic role in directing learning behavior, strengthening self-discipline, and fostering students’ moral and spiritual commitment. The development of the will in Islamic education can be implemented through the internalization of monotheistic values, habituation of worship practices, role modeling, and continuous moral education. Therefore, strengthening the will becomes a crucial foundation in realizing holistic Islamic education oriented toward the formation of faithful, ethical, and responsible individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to explore teachers' experiences in identifying and addressing developmental disorders and deviations in elementary school students at SDN Kencong 01. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to understand the meaning of teachers' pedagogical experiences in the context of everyday learning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with fifth-grade teachers, observations of the learning process, and analysis of supporting documents. Data were then analyzed using data reduction, thematic coding, and extracting essential meanings. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that teachers play a role as early detectors of developmental disorders and deviations in students through contextual observations of their learning behavior, social interactions, and emotional regulation. The identification process is more intuitive and based on pedagogical experience than formal assessment. In handling, teachers apply a responsive pedagogical approach through adjustments to learning strategies, individual attention, and emotional approaches. However, the effectiveness of these efforts is limited by specific competencies, minimal institutional support, and the absence of supporting professionals in regular public elementary schools. This study concludes that teachers' experiences are an important source of contextual pedagogical knowledge, but require strengthening through school support systems, ongoing training, and structured collaboration with parents. These findings contribute to the development of more inclusive and equitable basic education practices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the symptoms of a mixed soul, namely the integration of the functions of reason ('aql), heart (qalb), and desire (nafs), and the formation of student character within the framework of Islamic Educational Psychology. The study was conducted using a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, examining Islamic literature, contemporary educational psychology, and character education in Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that when these elements of the soul are out of balance, for example, when reason fails to control desires, or the heart fails to act as a moral guide, symptoms of a mixed soul emerge, including unstable motivation, inner conflict, and immature character behavior. Conversely, Islamic religious education, which consciously instills spiritual, emotional, and moral values, and effectively integrates the functions of reason, heart, and desire, contributes positively to the strengthening of student character. As psychological beings, humans possess complex and interacting mental functions. In psychological studies, mental functions generally encompass cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. These three functions do not operate in isolation but often appear in a mixed form, influencing an individual's behavior, emotions, and learning process. This article aims to examine the concept of mixed mental functions, the various forms of human mental symptoms that arise from the interaction of these functions, and their application in education. The method used is a literature review of psychological and educational theories. The results of this study indicate that understanding mixed mental functions is crucial for educators in designing holistic, humanistic learning strategies that are oriented towards the overall development of students.

Abstract

Food security is a strategic issue in sustainable rural development. Cakru Village, Kencong District, Jember Regency, has abundant corn production, yet its utilization is largely limited to fresh consumption and animal feed, resulting in low value added and limited food diversification. This community service program aimed to enhance residents’ skills in processing corn into corn nuggets, a nutritious, marketable local food innovation. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the program involved stages of discovery, dream, design, and destiny. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills in processing corn into nuggets, as indicated by increased pre-test and post-test scores and the ability to independently carry out the production process in accordance with procedural and hygienic standards. Participants also applied simple marketing strategies, including product packaging, pricing, and marketing simulations. In addition, the establishment of a corn-based joint business group supported program sustainability and showed potential to strengthen food security and increase the value added of local corn. Keywords: Food Security; Corn; Corn Nuggets; Local Food Innovation Abstrak: Ketahanan pangan merupakan isu strategis dalam pembangunan berkelanjungan di wilayah pedesaan. Desa Cakru, Kecamatan Kencong, Kabupaten Jember, memiliki potensi produksi jagung yang melimpah, namun pemanfaatannya masih terbatas pada konsumsi segar dan pakan ternak, sehingga nilai tambah dan diversifikasi pangan lokal belum optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan warga dalam mengolah jagung menjadi nugget jagung sebagai inovasi pangan lokal yang bergizi dan bernilai jual. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) yang meliputi tahapan discovery, dream, design, dan destiny. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam pengolahan jagung menjadi nugget, yang ditunjukkan oleh kenaikan skor pre-test dan post-test serta kemampuan mempraktikkan proses produksi secara mandiri sesuai prosedur dan prinsip higienitas. Peserta juga mampu menerapkan strategi pemasaran sederhana melalui penentuan kemasan, harga jual, dan simulasi pemasaran. Selain itu, terbentuk kelompok usaha bersama berbasis olahan jagung sebagai upaya keberlanjutan program, yang berpotensi memperkuat ketahanan pangan dan meningkatkan nilai tambah jagung lokal.
