Abstract

Learning and teaching will be meaningful if the students take an active role in finding the concept. The involvement of various contexts that are close to and known by students in learning and teaching mathematics motivate their learning and students see the importance of learning math. The use of cultural object such as tabuik in learning mathematics with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach becomes an innovative learning at grade VIII of SMPN 4 Pariaman. Learning of polyhedrons (prism and pyramid) topic appropriate with the tabuik, which is built from several polyhedrons. This experimental study aims to see the comparison of student learning outcomes taught by RME approach using tabuik with student learning outcomes taught by conventional learning. The result of data analysis showed that the result of mathematics learning outcomes of students taught by Approach of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) using tabuik in learning of polyhedron topic higher than mathematics learning outcomes of students taught by conventional learning at grade VIII SMPN 4 Pariaman. In addition, learning with RME approach and tabuik foster positive students' activities and positive attitudes in mathematics learning also appreciate their own culture.Keywords: Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), tabuik, learning outcomes.

Abstract

The mathematical concept on cultural objects is one of the objects of study in the study of ethnomathematics. This study aims to uncover mathematical concepts in the ornaments found in the rumah gadang and the development of ornaments. This qualitative research uses participatory observation techniques and documentation to obtain data. The results showed that there were geometrical concepts in the ornaments and the development of the rumah gadang ornaments. The concepts of geometry seen in ornaments include the use of two-dimensional such as square, rectangular, rhombic, circle, ellipse and polygons. Two-dimensional shape are also arranged using certain patterns. The development of ornament forms is carried out using the principles of congruence, tessellation, symmetry patterns and geometric transformations (translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation). The results of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in mathematics learning and ethnomathematics research on cultural objects.Keywords: ethnomathematics, ornaments of rumah gadang

Abstract

This paper discuss about practicality of product that are result of developmental research of learning device based on flipped classroom to improve mathematical problem solving ability for XI grade students of Senior High School on transformation material. This developmental research using Tjeerd Plomp model development procedure consisting of 3 stages, namely preliminary analysis stage, prototype development stage, and assessment phase. Data of practicality are collected by observation sheets, interview and students quosionare. The result show that learning device (lesson plan, learning video, student work sheet) are practically on learning geometry transformation based on flipped classroom. Abstract

This article discusses the differences in students' mathematical problem solving skills based on their level of mathematical anxiety, and the effect of mathematical anxiety on their mathematical problem solving skills. The instruments used in this study were mathematics anxiety questionnaires and mathematics problem solving ability tests. The data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA. The results of this study shows that: there are differences in students' mathematical problem solving skills at the anxiety level of the low, medium and high categories; and there is a negative influence of mathematics anxiety on the ability to solve mathematical problems with an influence value of 86.3%.

Abstract

Pemerintah provinsi Sumatera Barat mencanangkan program integrasi pendidikan al-Quran dan budaya alam Minangkabau pada setiap mata pelajaran di tingkat SMA/SMK. Untuk itu diperlukan pedoman pengintegrasian yang bersifat implementatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menghasilkan bahan ajar berupa Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) matematika berwawasan al-Qur’an dan budaya Minangkabau yang memenuhi kriteria valid dan praktis untuk peserta didik kelas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model 4-D dengan tahapan Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate. LKPD hasil pengembangan diujikan terhadap satu kelompok peserta didik dan pendidik kelas X SMAN 2 Padang Panjang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa: pedoman wawancara dengan peserta didik dan pendidik (pada tahap define dan develop), lembar analisis konsep/tugas, lembar validasi, lembar observasi, dan angket respon peserta didik dan pendidik. Analisis data kualitatif dilakukan dengan langkah: reduksi/kodifikasi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Data kuantitatif berupa tingkat validitas dan praktikalitas, disajikan dalam bentuk persentase dan kategori. Penelitian ini menghasilkan LKPD materi sistem persamaan linier tiga variabel berwawasan al-Qur’an dan budaya Minangkabau. Permasalahan dan soal-soal disajikan menggunakan konteks budayaMinangkabau. Ayat-ayat al-Qur’an pada setiap LKPD terkait dengan materi yang dibahas. Hasil validasi ahli menunjukkan bahwa LKPD yang dikembangkan sangat valid dengan persentase kevalidan 84,27%. Respon peserta didik menunjukkan produk LKPD ini sangat praktis dengan persentase 89,03%. Sedangkan pendidik menilai LKPD ini praktis dengan persentase 80,2%. Jadi LKPD materi sistem persamaan linier tiga variabel berwawasan al-Qur’an dan budaya Minangkabau dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika kelas X.The West Sumatra government implements the integration of Al-Quran education and Minangkabau natural culture in every subject at the SMA / SMK level. For this reason, an implementative integration guideline is needed.This study aims to develop and to create math teaching student worksheets that make use of concepts that come from the Al-Qur’an and Minangkabau culture. The worksheets fulfill valid and practical criteria for grade X students. This study applies research and development methods. The development model used is a 4-D model which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The developed LKPD was tested on  a group of class X students and educators at SMAN 2 Padang Panjang. The research instruments used were: interview guides with students and educators (at the define and develop stage), concept/task analysis sheets, validation sheets, observation sheets, and student and educator response questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed by reducing/codifying data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Quantitative data in the form of validity and practicality made percentages and categorization. This research produces LKPD with the insight of the Al-Qur’an and Minangkabau culture for the material of the system of linear equations three variables. The problems and questions presented are using the Minangkabau cultural context. The verses of the Al-Qur’an that are presented are related to the material being discussed. The results of expert validation show that the developed LKPD is very valid with a validity percentage of 84.27%. The response of students showed that the product produced was very practical with a percentage of 89.03%, while the educators considered that this LKPD was practical with a percentage of 80.2%. So LKPD with the insight of the Al-Qur’an and Minangkabau culture is valid and practically used in class X mathematics learning in the material of the system of linear equations three variables.

Abstract

Keberadaan Rumah Gadang, sebagai rumah adat suku Minangkabau, tidak terlepas dari perantukang tuo yang tetap menjaga keunikan teknik arsitektur tradisional Rumah Gadang. Agareksistensi Rumah Gadang tetap terjaga, maka harus ada usaha pewarisan pengetahuan arsitekturtradisional. Tulisan ini bertujuan menggambarkan proses transfer pengetahuan arsitekturtradisional Rumah Gadang dari tukang tuo ke generasi penerusnya. Data mengenai proses transferpengetahuan ini penulis peroleh melalui wawancara dengan tukang tuo. Hasil wawancaramenunjukkan 3 (tiga) tahapan utama dalam proses transfer pengetahuan arsitektur tradisionalRumah Gadang. Tahapan proses transfer pengetahuan tersebut bersesuaian dengan teori belajarsosial dan teori belajar sosio-kultural. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sangat memungkinkan untukmenjaga kelestarian teknik arsitektur tradisional Rumah Gadang sebagai sebuah local genius.

Abstract

This research examined: (1) the effectiveness of learning through a goal-free problem strategy compared with learning through a goal-given problem strategy with regard to transfer ability, reasoning, or cognitive load; (2) the effectiveness of learning collaboratively compared with learning individually with regard to transfer ability, reasoning, or cognitive load; and (3) interaction between learning strategy (goal-free or goal-given) and setting (collaborative or Individual) in terms of transfer ability, reasoning, or cognitive load. The experiment was conducted using a 2 (setting: collaborative vs. Individual) x 2 (strategy: goal-free vs. goal-given) factorial design; posttest-only control-group. The results of the data analysis supported hypothesis that the students who learned by goal-free problems strategy led to be better in terms of near and far transfer scores than students who learned by the goal-given strategy. The goal-free problems strategy was also proved to be more effective in terms of students' reasoning in near and far transfer tests rather than the goal-given problems strategy. Collaborative learning more effectively minimizes cognitive load during acquisition and near transfer test phase than students learn individually, also effectively facilitating students in terms of the near transfer only than students in individual learning. There was a significant interaction effect between the learning setting factor and strategy factor in terms of near transfer ability and reasoning in the near transfer test. Simple effect test showed that learning collaboratively by goal-given strategy was significantly more effective in terms of near transfer ability and students’ reasoning in the near transfer test, and learning individually by goal-free strategy was significantly more effective in terms of near transfer ability and students’ reasoning in near transfer test.

Abstract

Kesetaraan dalam pendidikan merupakan elemen penting dari beberapa standar visi NCTM dalam pendidikan matematika. Kesetaraan yang dimaksud, tidak berarti bahwa setiap siswa harus menerima pembelajaran yang identik dari guru; sebaliknya, menuntut sebuah pembelajaran yang mengakomodasi sebuah akses dalam mencapai kemampuan setiap siswa. Selain itu, NCTM juga mengemukakan bahwa dalam pembelajaran matematika terdapat lima standar proses yang harus terpenuhi, yakni problem solving, reasoning and proof, connections, communication, dan representation. Sementara itu, kemampuan problem solving yang dimiliki oleh seseorang akan mempengaruhi pada fleksibilitas proses berpikir mereka. Proses berpikir yang dimaksud dapat berupa proses dinamik yang memuat kompleksitas ide–ide matematik yang dimiliki serta dapat mengekspansi pemahaman tentang matematika yang disebut sebagai mathematical thinking. Dengan demikian, diperlukan sebuah model pembelajaran yang dapat berfungsi sebagai alat pedagogis guru, baik sebelum, selama dan setelah pembelajaran, terutama dalam membangun mathematical thinking siswa. Kerangka Comprehensive Mathematics Instruction (CMI) merupakan sebuah kerangka prinsip – prinsip praktek pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan pengalaman matematika yang seimbang, sehingga siswa dapat memiliki pemikiran dan pemahaman matematika secara mendalam, kerangka CMI memiliki semua kriteria sebuah model pembelajaran. Adapun syntax untuk model CMI terdiri dari develop, solidify dan practice. Dalam penerapannya, setiap syntax tersebut meliputi tiga tahapan, yakni tujuan (purpose), peran guru (teacher role) dan peran siswa (student role). Berdasarkan hasil analisis eksploratif yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran CMI ini dapat menjadi sebuah alat pedagogis yang baru bagi guru yang dapat digunakan, baik sebelum, selama dan setelah pembelajaran dalam membangun kemampuan mathematical thinking siswa.  Kata Kunci: Comprehensive Mathematics Instruction, Mathematical Thinking.

Abstract

Self efficacy is a basic belief in learning, especially learning mathematics, because self efficacy can have a strong effect that can show students' self-confidence, when students have a high self-efficacy category, students can solve problems in learning mathematics well. This study aims to analyze the self efficacy of students in learning mathematics with the Search, Solve, Create, Share (SSCS) learning model. This research is a descriptive quantitative research. The subjects in the study were students of class VIII SMPN 8 Bukittinggi and a sample of 30 people. The instrument used is a self efficacy questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis using the percentage of degrees of achievement. The results of the study were obtained that the self efficacy of students with the learning model given search, solve, create share there were 8 students in the high category, 21 students in the high enough category, and 1 student in the medium category. While overall the degree of achievement of students' self efficacy is in the high enough category. Where for each dimension of students' self efficacy is also in the high enough category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT ABD. HAKIM, NIM 2220010006 Thesis "Differences between Project Based Learning and Self Directed Learning Models on PAI and BP Learning Outcomes for Class X Students of Mechanical Engineering Department of SMK Negeri 5 Padang". Postgraduate Islamic Religious Education Study Program at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes achieved by students. It can be seen that the learning process is less than optimal, so that an active, creative and meaningful learning process has not yet been realized, where during the learning process the teacher is still using learning that is not yet relevant. This research discusses the differences between the Project Based Learning learning model and the Self Directed Learning learning model on PAI and BP learning outcomes for class X students of the Mechanical Engineering Department at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. This research uses a quantitative experimental design method, randomized control group posttest only design by applying the Project Based Learning learning model in the experimental class in class X.1, totaling 36 people and the control class in class X.2, totaling 36 people. The instrument used by researchers was a test of learning outcomes on the material The Role of Ulama Figures in the Spread of Islam in Indonesia (Method of Islamic Da'wah by Wali Songo in Java). Research data on student learning outcomes was collected through a learning outcomes test with 20 objective questions, then analyzed using SPSS version 20. The findings from this research were that there were differences in PAI and BP learning outcomes on the material on the Role of Ulama Figures in the Spread of Islam in Indonesia (Da'wah Method Islam Wali Songo in Tanah Java) Class This is proven based on the results of the analysis, it is found that t count > t table, namely 3.957 > 2.028, so Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.
