Abstract

Chitosan is a natural material extracted from deacetylated chitin of crustacean shell used for many kinds of functions, not only for food but also non food product. The research objective is to find out the effect of chitosan used for filler within transparency soap to the characteristic of physical, chemical and bioeffect of end product, and to find out which concentrate of chitosan will be used for the best product. The research was divided by two steps, pre-research and main research. Pre-research resulted that transparency soap with 5% chitosan was the best choice based on organoleptic test which was the best in toughness, and based on chemical also microbiological analyses. The soap with 5% chitosan has TPC (Total Plate Count) amount to 2.0x101, while the one without chitosan contained TPC 6.5x101. The main research showed that transparency soap with 5% chitosan has better quality compare to commercialized one.

Abstract

Electricity is a basic necessity in everyday life. Fossil energy is typically used to generate electricity, and non-renewable energy sources will eventually be depleted without innovation in the form of renewable energy. Liquid waste from fisheries is a commodity that can generate electricity through Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) systems. However, the electricity generated is relatively small. The research aimed to increase the electrical voltage from fish curing waste in a Microbial Fuel Cell system by using an additional boost converter circuit. The research was conducted using 5 MFC systems connected in series and connected to a boost converter device. The electrical values of the MFC system with the boost converter circuit were a voltage of 12.13±0.87 V, a current of 0.86±0.20 mA, and a power of 10.50±3.11 mW. Meanwhile, without the boost converter circuit, the voltage value was 2.24±0.26 volts, the current was 0.17±0.03 mA, and the power was 0.38±0.11 mW. The increase in electricity in the MFC system indicated that the boost converter circuit functioned properly. The MFC system was able to reduce BOD, COD, and TAN values.

Abstract

Pepton merupakan salah satu produk yang bersifat higroskopis ketika terkena udara, mudah berikatan dengan air, dan mengalami penggumpalan selama penyimpanan, sehingga mudah mengalami kerusakan mutu secara fisik dan kimiawi. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuat mikroenkapsulat pepton ikan hasil tangkapan sampingan (HTS) multispesies busuk dengan rasio penyalut antara kombinasi bahan penyalut maltodekstrin dan natrium kaseinat yang terbaik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam empat tahapan yaitu pembuatan pepton cair dengan ikan HTS yang sudah dibusukkan selama 12 jam, lalu dimikroenkapsulasi dengan bahan penyalut maltodekstrin dan natrium kaseinat, dan kemudian mengujicobakan mikroenkapsulat pepton yang sudah dikarakterisasi untuk media pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus dan E. coli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasio penyalut antara kombinasi bahan penyalut maltodekstrin dan natrium kaseinat yang terbaik adalah 75:25. Mikroenkapsulat pepton ikan HTS multispesies busuk memiliki komposisi kimia yaitu kadar air 6,61%, kadar abu 1,67%, kadar protein 32,40%, dan kadar lemak 0,38%. Karakteristik kimia produk yang dihasilkan antara lain kelarutan 45,28%, total nitrogen 4,20%, α-amino nitrogen bebas 0,21 g/100 g, AN/TN 5%, kadar garam 0,40%, pH 5,66, dan gula pereduksi 16,22%. Karakteristik fisik yang diukur adalah derajat putih dengan nilai 95,37%. Nilai aktivitas air (aw) produk pada saat 4 jam pertama menunjukkan nilai lebih rendah daripada nilai aw standard yaitu ≤0,53. Hasil pengukuran Optical Density (OD) menunjukkan adanya pola pertumbuhan pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Bagiak is a biscuit made of sago flour, tapioca, arrowroot starch, sugar, and other ingredients. Bagiak is high in carbohydrates, but low in proteins. The aim of this study was to determine the best formulation resulting from the substitution of catfish protein concentrate and addition of catfish bone meal in making bagiak biscuits. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized factorial design (RALF) with two treatments, namely substitution of catfish protein concentrates (FPC) for main meal (0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%) and addition of catfish bone meal (0, 1, 2, 3 %). For the selected formulas, the hedonic test results were analyzed, including protein and calcium levels, and test parameters according to SNI Biscuits 2973:2022. The selected formula was a 10% KPI formulation and 3% fishbone meal. The selected bagiak formulation produced a protein content of 10.90±0.01% and calcium of 572.32 mg/100 g. The protein and calcium levels of the selected bagiak were greater than those of the control and commercial bagiak. Test results for selected water content parameters, total aerobic plate number, Enterobacteriaceae, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, heavy metal contamination: Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Tin (Sn), Mercury (Hg), and (As) met the SNI Biscuit quality requirements, SNI 2973:2022. The 10% FPC formulation and 3% fish bone meal have the potential to be nutritious snacks with better protein and calcium contents than commercial products.

Abstract

Industri manufaktur dan konstruksi di Indonesia menyumbang persentase kecelakaan kerja tertinggi yaitu 63,6%. Salah satu jenis kecelakaan kerja yang umum terjadi adalah terjepit dan tergores. Kedua jenis kecelakaan tersebut berisiko terjadi pada proses material handling dan pemotongan benda. Upaya untuk meminimalisir risiko kecelakaan tersebut berdasarkan hirarki pengendalian risiko adalah dengan mensubstitusi mesin atau proses yang kurang aman dengan mesin atau proses yang lebih aman. Pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan perancangan mesin semi otomatis untuk material handling dan feeding system, menggantikan proses manual yang digunakan saat ini di industri terkait. Rancangan mesin yang dihasilkan tidak hanya dapat meminimalisir risiko keamanan tetapi juga meningkatkan efisiensi produksi. Proses perancangan dilakukan menggunakan metode VDI 2222 meliputi tahap merencana, mengonsep, merancang, dan melakukan penyelesaian desain. Metode VDI 2225 digunakan untuk menentukan konsep rancangan terpilih yang paling optimal secara teknis dan ekonomi. Analisis kekuatan rangka mesin untuk memastikan rangka dapat menopang mesin sehingga mesin dapat beroperasi dengan aman, dilakukan menggunakan software Solidworks. Penelitian ini menghasilkan rancangan semi-automatic material handling and feeding machine menggunakan roller conveyor. Mesin hasil rancangan ini mampu beroperasi dengan lebih efisien yaitu sebesar 72% dibandingkan dengan proses sebelumnya. Mesin hasil rancangan juga mampu meningkatkan kapasitas produksi sebesar 29,75%.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on a request from PT Paranje Rizqi Cileuncang to Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung to design a broiler chicken manure cleaning system. The system was designed according to the chicken coop construction built by PT Paranje Rizqi Cileuncang in Kabupaten Garut, measuring 17 meters in length, 5 meters in width, and 7 meters in height, with 5 levels and 2 columns of cages. The research aimed to design and determine the cost of manufacturing the broiler chicken manure cleaning system. The design process followed the VDI 2222 methodology, which includes planning, conceptualizing, designing, and finalizing. The results of this study include a draft, 3D modeling, working drawings, and a detailed cost estimation. The designed system is a belt conveyor placed under the chicken coop, equipped with a drive motor, rollers, pulleys, and a belt cleaner. The estimated cost of the conveyor system is IDR.181,463,156

Abstract

Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah produk perikanan di Desa Rancabungur mengalami kendala dalam akses biaya dan pengetahuan manajemen. Tim Mahasiswa Teknologi Hasil Perairan, Institut Pertanian Bogor, merancang program pengabdian masyarakat melalui pembentukan Asosiasi Profesi Pengolah Ikan Lele (APRIL). Program ini berfokus pada sektor pengolahan, keuangan, dan pemasaran dengan pendekatan partisipatif, sosialisasi, pencerdasan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan kepada 45 warga dari 4 RW. Program dilaksanakan pada Agustus–Oktober 2023 dengan sasaran 1 kelompok usaha utama dan 5 pelaku usaha individu. Peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat signifikan 22,14% bidang pengolahan produk, pengelolaan keuangan, dan strategi pemasaran. Program pengabdian masyarakat telah tercapai dengan indikator keberhasilan 90% dan kategori baik. Kegiatan ini berhasil menciptakan produk inovatif berbasis ikan lele “CLARINET” (Clarias with Innovation and Integrity) dan meningkatkan pendapatan pelaku usaha Rp400.000/minggu. Program pengabdian mampu mendukung peningkatan kapabilitas pelaku usaha serta memperkuat kolaborasi antara akademisi, pihak desa, mitra, dan masyarakat dalam pengembangan perekonomian desa berbasis potensi lokal.

Abstract

Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) is a technology that uses exoelectrogenic bacteria to produce electrical energy. This study aims to determine the effect of the ratio of natural chitosan and zeolite on the characteristics of the chitosan / zeolite composite membrane as a PEM separator in MFC, to determine the performance of MFC in producing electricity, and to determine the performance of reducing the organic load of fishery wastewater in MFC technology applications. The chitosan/zeolite separator membrane was made with different ratio of chitosan and natural zeolite 1: 3, 1:1, 3: 1, and without a membrane (w/w). The chitosan / zeolite separator membrane is a proton exchange membrane that can transfer 20% positive ions. Separator membrane with a ratio of 3: 1 resulted in a tensile strength value of 0,855 MPa and a water uptake value of 1,8%, and ratio of 1:1 produced the highest conductivity value of 10,57 S/cm, the highest electric voltage was 0,59 V, the highest electric current was 0,51 mA, and the highest electric power was 0,30 mW. The values of COD, BOD, and TAN decreased by 45%, 46%, and 92%, and the pH value increased to 8,4.

Abstract

Pepton bersifat higroskopis sehingga perlu dilindungi dengan teknik mikroenkapsulasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan pengaruh perbedaan kecepatan homogenisasi terhadap mikroenkapsulasi pepton ikan menggunakan tingkatan kecepatan 16.000 rpm, 22.000 rpm, dan 28.000 rpm serta aplikasinya sebagai media bakteri. Stabilitas ukuran globula terbaik diperoleh menggunakan kecepatan homogenisasi 22.000 rpm. Nilai rendemen sebesar 41,76%. Mikroenkapsulat pepton memiliki kadar air sebesar 8,21%, kadar abu 1,69%, kadar lemak 0,64%, dan kadar protein 15,5%. Nilai hasil uji kelarutan sebesar 75,5%, total nitrogen 1,656%, kadar garam 1,53%, gula pereduksi 23,78%, dan pH sebesar 6,013. Nilai derajat putih sebesar 95,91%. Asam amino mikroenkapsulat pepton ikan mengandung 15 jenis asam amino. Asam amino terbaik pada mikroenkapsulat pepton ikan yaitu alanina dan asam glutamat.

Abstract

Extraction of fish oil from the by-products of tilapia and carp can be achieved using an appropriate extraction process. The purpose of this study was to determine the proportion of acetone and fish oil solvents in relation to the oxidation parameters, iodine number, and concentration profile of omega-3 fatty acids present in tilapia and goldfish oil. This study utilized a completely randomized design, in which the treatment ratios of acetone and oil solvent were varied as 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1, and 7:1 (v/v). The following parameters were examined: the chemical composition, free amino acids, acid value, peroxide value, p-anisidine, total oxidation, iodine value, and fatty acid profile.The omega-3 levels in tilapia and carp were 1.20% and 1.53%, respectively. An Iodine Number Test was employed to identify the most effective solvent treatment, revealing a 5:1 (v/v) ratio as the optimal solution. The increase in the value of omega-3 in tilapia oil amounted to 1.76%, whereas that in carp oil increased from 0.78% to 2.96%, resulting in an average increase of 2.31%.
