Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of fundamental factors on stock returns on the companies listed in the LQ’45 index in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research uses explanatory research design. The population consists of 45 companies listed in the LQ'45 index. The purposive sampling technique is used and collected a total of 23 companies as the sample. The number of samples was 23 companies because these companies consistently formed the LQ'45 index for the 2014-2018 periods. Those companies are fulfilling the criteria which are continually included in the LQ’45 index throughout the analysis period. Thus, the data panels used in this study were as much as 115 observations. Fundamental factors proxies by TATO, MBV, CR, DER, NPM, and EPS. The multiple linear regression analysis is used and the results showed that TATO has a significant positive effect on stock returns, MBV has a significant negative effect on stock returns, while CR, DER, NPM, and EPS have no significant effects on the stock return of LQ’45 index-listed companies.

Abstract

A newspaper has three main functions: informing, serving, and entertaining. From a linguistic point of view, especially discourse analysis, it is interesting to analyze how the news can relate to each other and how the news has unity from one element to another. The instrument to relate and unite from one element to another in discourse analysis is called cohesion. Cohesion is a meaningful relationship between two or more elements within the text. Meanwhile, there are two kinds of cohesion, they are grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. In this study, the researcher focuses on lexical cohesion. Lexical cohesion is a linguistic device that helps create unity in the text. It occurs when two or more elements in the text are related to their meaning. Besides, it is also viewed as one of the elements that help the reader quickly understand the writer's thoughts. This study mainly analyzes lexical cohesion's types and functions in the "National Column" of The Jakarta Post. The approach of this study is descriptive qualitative. The data sources of this study are "National Column" of The Jakarta Post which is issued from 26th to 30th March, 2012. The data were analyzed based on the theory of Halliday and Hasan's (1976), Taboada (2004), and Tanskanen (2006). This study shows that: (1) lexical cohesion is used in the "National Column" of The Jakarta Post. The types of lexical cohesion which are used are reiteration and collocation. Reiteration used in these columns consists of repetition, synonym, and superordinate. The sequence of lexical cohesion types used the most are collocation, repetition, superordinate, and synonym. (2) each type of lexical cohesion has a vital function. Reiteration is used to reiterate the previous item, either in an identical or somewhat modified form. Collocation indicates the relationship between words that often occur in the same environment. In use, each cohesive lexical device has a substantial and different function. By using lexical cohesion, the sentences relate to each other, making them enjoyable to read.

Abstract

In the capital market, each stock price must reflect all available and relevant information or commonly known as the efficient market. In an efficient market, market anomalies should not occur to affect abnormal returns. This study aims to test whether the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) exhibits January Effect and Size Effect anomalies, which could indicate inefficiencies in the capital market. The population includes all banking stocks listed on the IDX from 2018 to 2022, with a final sample of 38 banks after excluding incomplete data. The method involves examining both the January Effect with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Size Effect with the Paired Samples T-test. The results indicate no significant January Effect during the 2018-2022 period, except in 2021, and no Size Effect anomalies for banking stocks during the same period.

Abstract

Karst areas experience annual drought, making it essential to preserve potential groundwater recharge areas. This study aims to assess the level of groundwater recharge and its spatial distribution in karst regions, with a case study in the Gunungsewu karst area, Paranggupito sub-district, Wonogiri Regency. This research employed the APLIS method (Altitude, Slope, Lithology, Infiltration and Soil) and collected data by creating a Land Mapping Unit (LMU) map. The LMU was generated through an overlay of land use, soil type, slope, rock type, and rainfall, resulting in 20 LMUs. The observed parameters included elevation, slope, soil type, lithology, soil infiltration, and texture, with modification incorporating porosity as an actual soil parameter. Observations and sampling were conducted, and data analysis involved ANOVA and correlation tests to assess the influence of topography on groundwater recharge distribution and its correlation with soil characteristics. The research results indicate that groundwater recharge is classified into medium and high categories. The distribution of groundwater recharge is influenced by topography and soil infiltration, with the highest recharge occurring on slopes of 0-3% and high infiltration values.

Abstract

The urgency of the research is that many business people understand financial literacy but seem to have less impact on financial performance. It is probably because some business people have not followed up with changes in good financial behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy on financial behavior, financial satisfaction, and financial performance. In addition, it also knows the effect of financial behavior on financial satisfaction and financial performance and the effect of financial satisfaction on financial performance. The population in this study is the entire batik industry in Indonesia with large and medium scale, as many as 208 batik business actors. The sampling technique is a saturated sample or census, where all members of the population become members of the sample. The data analysis technique used SMART PLS 03 software. According to the study's findings, financial literacy has a significant effect on financial behavior and financial performance, and financial behavior significantly affects financial satisfaction. Financial satisfaction furthermore has a significant effect on financial performance. However, financial literacy has no effect on financial satisfaction, and financial behavior has also been found to have no effect on financial performance. This research implies that the financial performance of batik industry players will increase if they have financial behavior that can create added value and the importance of financial literacy.
